I recall hearing a story about a group of monks (I forget if they were Christian, Buddhist or what) who were traveling from one monastery to another. They marched in a single file line. When they came to a river they started crossing it one by one. There was a woman standing on the bank who needed to get across but could not do it on her own. Monks being monks they knew better and pretended not to see her. But the second to last monk took pity on her and let her ride on his back until they got to the other side, after which he set her down and he continued. The very last monk was increasingly angry and finally spoke up: "How dare you break your vow by carrying that woman across the river!" The second to last monk replied: "I set her down after we got across but you are still carrying her."

I always liked this one. most prostitutes didn't choose that route in life, its often more an act of desperation to survive. she was able to choose to be a monk, choose to take control and go on a brighter path; and they did not judge her for it.

It is the purifying power of true saints like Ananda. But today there are not too many Anandas around us to purify the prostitutes (prostitutes not in that restricted sense as in the story)among us. The effect is the sorry state of affairs of our present society in each and every country of the world. May be a little less here and a little more there.

There's another Buddhist story where one monk with meditative pyshic attainment of divine eye surpassing the human eye saw a female ghost suffering as a ghost & he went to the buddha to ask him what actions led that woman being born as ghost.... The Buddha replied that 2 lives ago she was a prostitute & due to her bad actions after death she was born in hell suffered there for a long time.. & then later on she escaped from hell & was born as a ghost to pay the excess karma of being a prostitute 2 lives ago... In Buddhist pov its not about judging which matters it's whether or not u change....

@@MrCmon113 Rightly said. But then I also said the same. I would like to use the word in the broader sense. Prostitutes, then or now, sell their bodies to earn their livelihood. For almost all of them it is the last resort. A few in the present day high society practise it to enable them to live a lavish lifestyle and some for sensual pleasure. But many among are prostitutes of a different kind. We sell our integrity, morality and use unscrupulous means and exploit people to earn megabucks. It is these who cause greater damage to the society ana the country We need many many Anandas to purify this segment.

Christianity is not about wisdom. It's about not being able to go anywhere near a Holy God with your sinful nature. But God being so good that He paid the price for you to get a NEW HEART by dying on a cross for you. There is wisdom in Christianity but the core is a loving God without whom no one can be saved from their sins no matter how wise, intelligent, loving, caring and daring they might be. Be blessed!

@@dantechersi6056 not everyone has only ten fingers, a few are born with more, some with less. Some people have extra length of bone in their ankles from living in areas where they and their ancestors had to run to survive, think africa as an example. Descendants of the inca and those from certain areas where pearl diving has been a way of life for hundreds or thousands of years have larger lungs and chest cavities. People who have recent native american relatives and recent relatives from africa typically have denser bones in their skeletons. The human body is an incredible adapting thing, provided it is not hobbled by sickness and genetic disorder, it can actively adapt to the environment it is in, if you take it easy it will weaken but if you challenge it, it can become so much more. Another truely interesting aspect is that how you treat yourself can cause effects that can be passed on in your dna to your children. There is no fate other than what we choose.

When it comes to who has what in features, you have what is common as the norm then you have exceptions and very often exceptions are very rare for any number of reasons, humans being stupidly petty and short sighted is a large number of those reasons. As for the spirit versus physical aspects of our existence, the two are forever linked, you can not have one without the other and in fact, one gives rise to the other and short sight humans has forever clouded the issue so as to hide that fact from people like yourself all over this planet. They have misrepresented what animates to such a degree that no one even understands what our conciousness is or if their is anything truely after we die. I can sense the problems with the ideas behind religions and due to one of the very few benefits of being an social outcast, i can see snd understand many things that the accepted ones can not or have completely wrong. I have seen the effects of ideas like religion on a person, and i do not care for it. There was one person in this eorld who was the closest to how i am, they showed me the concept of long term consequences being involved with every choice and the werevthe fiercest mind i have ever encountered, then they adopted a religion and they became domesticated in their nature. The pursuit of comfort and easy is leading all you astray, it is weakening you and all that are descended from you, i can not and will not follow that path because i can see the end that it leads to and i want better than that.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that..

Would be nice if your god stopped killing dogs with thirst to begin with.

"....and I will smite ALL NATIONS, who turn My children against me!!" Which means it never mattered what your religious beliefs are, you are all children of God!! He/She is in ALL of you, regardless of your beliefs!! Remember that religious beliefs and prayer in those beliefs are a language, a religious language, spoken by you and God Almighty!! No matter what your religious LANGUAGES are, NEVER EVER STOP PRAYING IN THAT BELIEF/LANGUAGE!!! keep praying and learn to love your religious language, it's the most beautiful languages on Earth and through out the Universes!! If you claim you have no religious beliefs or language, then please remember that your thoughts are prayers. Everytime you think, it's like prayer, your sending out your thoughts, and it's the goodness in your prayers that returns an answer!! Keep your thoughts higher and clearer, study visualization and pray and just keep on praying!!! Your mind is from The God, given to you to speak always to Him/Her, it's your TELECOMMUNICATIONS link, let your religious language pick up the receiver, all religious LANGUAGES are connected to that telephone, so call, call, call and keep a journal with date and time you made the call, and received your answer. Blessings to ALL

Leonardo da Vinci said "The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions " Plato shared with us wisdom he learnt from Egypt, wisdom that was a death sentence in Greece, Rome (Christianity) ..Pythagoras, Socrates and later Hypatia of Alexandria. Plato in his dialogue " The Republic " tells the allegory of " The Cave " Plato starts by telling us of prisoners being held in a sort of underground den, let us examine this den via the geometry of Bernhard Riemann and Felix Klein..Klein bottle..3rd and 4th dimensions. Plato tells us that the prisoners are bound up unable to move their heads, let us examine this bondage via the psychology of Erich Fromm..socialisation of consciousness.. aware-unaware. Plato tells us that the prisoners mistake shadows for substance, let us examine this mistake via the philosophy of Thales and Kant..synthetic a priori..not thing in itself. Plato tells us that one of the prisoners is released, let us examine this release via the instructions given by T.Lobsang Rampa..stilling the mind and conscious astral travel..leaving the cave/body. Plato tells us that the prisoners will reject this release, let us examine this rejection via the psychological effects of Stockholm syndrome..Plato quotes Homer " Better to be a poor man, and have a poor master, and endure anything, than to think and live after their manner " Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds. Mathew 23 13 31.

Prostitution is a non-issue for the Buddha. Not that he condoned it, but that Buddhism is non judgmental like most other religions. There are no good or bad people, no "sin." Only skillful and unskillful actions. In every situation there's always a skillful or unskillful choice of action. And each yields a corresponding effect (karma). One couldn't say that prostitution is an unskillful choice -- it could be in some cases, but not always -- as the person could be forced into the situation by life circumstances (extreme poverty, human trafficking, etc).

If Buddhism were non-judgemental, monks and nuns would not be expelled for breaking rules, would they? Buddha reminds us not to associate with fools. Certainly judgement is involved.

@@SBCBears expelled from monastery not expelled from Buddhism. You are not asked nor forced to join a monastery. It's your free will. Now live up to the responsibilities. It's your choice; your decision. Just like any other job. If you can't, leave. But by no means is that expulsion from Buddhism. Why would you join a monastery and then deliberately not follow their rules? It's work, it's a job. Albeit not secular job, but job nonetheless. Stay at home if you can't do the job. By all means you're free to continue your personal Buddhist practice by yourself.

I am a Buddhist nun, I read Pali, classical Chinese and Sanskrit. This story is 100% fake with no textual source. Whoever posted it is making a truckload of bad karma for themselves by denigrating other people's religion. For the love of all that is holy please don't share this nonsense.

Most live a life in an Echo chamber, one that validates them and their beliefs - Pride. They see envy when anything opposes that - green. It leads them to sin - all of those monks were corrupted, failed the test. Christ came to serve and save. Why would he hang out with the ones that were innocent and pure? Do firefighters rush into the house next door to save the people from the house that is burning next door? Face it, you fear what is unknown, the test, because you lack the courage to act. You just bark at danger, you don't confront it or rescue anyone from it.
