There is another possibility as to why Cass could pull Sam's BODY out of the cage, but not his soul. The cage is in Hell. Heaven and Hell are places of the soul, NOT the body. Thus, the cage, meant to contain Lucifer, who does not have a physical body, would not be made to contain Sam's body, but it would be made to contain his soul. So Cass could have pulled out his body with ease for that reason, but could not pull out his soul.

In supernatural heaven and Hell are not just places of the soul. Sam and dean have entered Hell plenty of times with their physical bodies. As far as heaven goes most people can’t but angels with vessels take their vessels with them. Heaven and Hell are more like soul storage facilities in SPN Edit: also the cage is entirely different. They may say it’s in Hell but it could be in its own pocket universe and the only way to get to it is through Hell

Earth is a place of the body yet they use people's souls there on the show. It's more on how the laws of the area apply to the other aspect rather than the other aspect being/not being allowed there.

And the writers and thus characters never used that arc ever until it became a joke in the Fandom of Adam saying "I am still in hell." Without watching this video, I would have forgotten that Castiel was the only angel to ever encounter the four primordial entities. I have no objection to character ability to get in and out of cage. But what's curious is that before Lucifer was released, none of the demons knew the location of the cage. But after lucifer free, it seemed that many demons knew the location of the cage. Crowley was able to order his subordinates to study the Enochian script on the cage so that he could use it to control Lucifer's vessel. However, I hope to see videos about fairies and pagan gods in the future. They seem quite powerful but are often less talked about.

The cage was located in the deepest place of hell. Demons knew where it was all along but weren't able to come in contact with Lucifer. I bet many demons didn't even want to meet Lucifer. Azalea was the only demon who spoke with Lucifer.

From the way the Leprechaun talks when Sam say how can a leprechaun do what Angels can not. The way he goes Pfft angels sounds like the angels and leprechauns and Angels met before. Part of it could also be that the 666 seals helped obscure or hide the cage and as they broke seals the magic hiding the cage wore down. Then after season 5 the cage was much easier to get to as the seals were never put back into place.

My way of thinking was always that god put some sort of way for none angels to leave the cage, the cage was always meant to keep Lucifer and only Lucifer inside, much in the same way that purgatory was suppose to keep monsters but most specifically the leviathan inside, so just like how god implimented a way to get humens out of purgatory, i suspect he had a way to get humens back, cas probably is the one who knew about this way and used it to bring sam back, so even tho its very headcannony cause we didnt see or hear about any of it. i think its consistant with the way god built the world in the supernatural verse

I really don't like how Lucifer was treated near the end of the series. He kinda already had his purpose in the story served. It was total hype to see him in season 11 again but that's where it ends. His once menacing demeanor was ridiculous throughout season 12 all the way to the end. Honestly I hoped that Lucifer would just get tired of everything and return to the cage himself. The only place he really belonged. There was nothing for him out there in the world. Humans, demons and angels were all tired of him.

My theory was always that Cas, being an Angel of the lord, knew where Lucifer’s cage was maybe do to it being hardwired in their brains like prophet names and words of god. And the reason Cas was able to take Sam’s meat suit out but not his soul, is because Lucifer was still technically attached to Sam’s soul, and since Sam is human and not Angel his body could leave the cage without any seal having to be broken. Cas was strong, but still not strong enough to grip Sam’s soul away from Lucifer’s grasp.

As for why Michael and Lucifer didn’t fight while in the cage, they could’ve either been powerless but still immortal so fighting would lead to nothing. Or perhaps Michael was so broken by the fact that his father let him be locked away and never released him that he saw no point in fighting Lucifer, and Lucifer probably saw it has a form of torture to not kill Michael after being defeated.

So they were anything but powerless just pissed off. What would have happened if Cass did what Raphael told him to do? Free them from the cage and let the apocalypse continue. Raphael wanted to be the host of heaven. He didn't want to participate in their battle so what was there for him to gain?

@@Grayson-Winchester I don’t think Michael actually did any torturing. It was all basically Lucifer, which begs the question why wasn’t Sam turned into a demon? A demon is a human soul twisted and corrupted from the torture of Hell. Was Sam’s year in Hell equivalent to 100 years or even longer? And as for why they didn’t kill each other in the cage, I think the battle was meant to ravage earth and actually kill millions of people because that’s what they were hoping would bring God back, not necessarily them fighting. And in the cage what would be the point of even fighting. Also they had to be powerless or at the very least powered down a little, because if those two had full powers that cage wouldn’t have stood a chance. As for Raphael, I don’t think he ever had any intention of trying to release Michael and Lucifer. That was just something he said to appease the Michael Loyalists still in Heaven. After all he did end up making the deal with Crowley for half the souls of Purgatory because that would give him definitive control over heaven and he could leave Michael and Lucifer where they were with no pushback.

Well I always took it that the Cage we saw was what a human can perceive. The Cage's true form is more mystical like an angels true form. So I always thought Castiel managed to pull a part of Sam out but couldn't truly get into it all the way for all of Sam.

I think Leprechauns could probably jailbreak the cage, and they could probably also take on an angel- though probably not an archangel. We've seen magic put the whammy on some pretty heavy hitters. Leviathans and angels have both been seen to get hurt by witchcraft. Cas almost died because of Rowena's attack dog spell. I wager leprechauns probably know some fancy tricks. They probably taught witches some of it.

(I know that this video is a month old) I recently watched season 6 again, and in the BIG episode when castiel monologs, he has a conversation with Crowley where Crowley offers castiel a deal of, I think, 50,000 souls from hell to aid castiel in the civil war in heaven. I think it's implied that castiel was juicing with the souls because right after that, he talks about making his first impression on heaven and then followed up by saying he was able to bring sam back from the cage. Now, this doesn't explain how castiel knew where the cage was, but a couple possible explanations were that Crowley tipped castiel off, being the king of hell and all, or castiel went back to the cemetery where the gate was opened and just kinda fished him out, that also would explain why when sam woke up he was at the cemetery.

I think the exact timing might be off, but we did see Cas in one instance outright have more power than an archangel, when he took Crowleys deal for a "loan" of 50,000 souls to take on Raphael. Again, I can't imagine this happened within a few days or weeks of the "jump", but maybe a month or two? Also the specifics of the situation, even if they could grab Sam, Lucifer was still possessing him, so even if Sam got out, he'd probably drag luci with him, and it's not like luci is gonna let Sam go for any reason, especially if he thinks Sam is gonna get out of the cage, so Luci would have to get separated AND Sam would have to get out. However, we saw Raphael in a second vessel, the woman, the same vessel he ended up dying in, we only saw this vessel AFTER Cas got his 50k souls and confronted Raph, as far as we are aware blowing him away, completely destroying his vessel, to the point where Raph was forced to find another rather than simply resurrecting or rebuilding the first one. Perhaps something similar happened, we know Cas could overpower an archangel at this point, even if he couldn't outright kill them, maybe he also had the juice to hit the cage, popped in, did the same thing to Luci/Sam as he did to Raph, as he had no way to force Luci out, then, since again he had more juice than the archangels, WAS able to rebuild Sams body, but after all of that realized Sam didn't have a soul, since the same thing he used to throw out Luci, also threw out Sam. Then Cas also realized he didn't have the juice to hop back in and grab it, so he took the win he could, as he literally couldn't do anything else at this point

By righteous man i always assumed it meant someone who went to hell who shouldnt of. If John or Dean didnt sell there souls to save someone they loved they probably wouldnt of gone to hell. Since unlike others who sold their souls they did it for selfless reasons. Probably why those 2 were targetted to get to break the first seal. I dont think azazel killed john cause he could. He showed he couldve killed him at almost anytime and managed to possess him. Pretty sure he just did it 1 to get the colt and 2 to get him to sell his soul. Same thing with sam loosing. Azazel wanted sam to win and influenced many things along the way. Sam died and dean sold his sould. Always figured azazel planned both of these events that way a righteous man would fall to hell and the first seal can be broken Assuming he let sam lose because John wouldn't budge. Dean sells his soul, azazel gets sam, first seal gets broken.

I think the reason why Sam got out just in halfs is that the Cage holds metaphysical beings - Arcangels. Sam's body is pure physical and his soul was probably just trapped by Lucifer. So Castiel could probably just retrieve it just like that and Death should have also been able to retrieve the soul in a moment where Lucifer wasn't busy torturing it. So as simple as it may sound - the cage was only created to keep Archangels in. And apparently this is the only thing it's made to capture so humans, souls, regular angels. It appears that they all can just enter and leave given they get the chance.

When I saw it, I thought that Sam's soul was captured by Lucifer and kept in the cage. After all, the two were one then and since Michael also existed there together with his host body and left it with him. And whatever method our favorite balloon-jacketed angel used to open the cage wasn't perfect because it didn't have to be and maybe couldn't be. Because if it had been perfect then Lucifer would have been freed along with Sam. Thus, he could only open it so that a small thing like a weak, insignificant, mortal man could fit through it, while an ancient and powerful archangel obstructed its bars. After all, a small mouse can easily escape from cages made for strong wild animals. Only when Lucifer hit the bars did he grab Sam's soul. Maybe Sam's soul only started to hurt after it was left to itself. That was just my idea though.

I definitely think that rings theory make most of sence and leprechaun theory is funniest, when I was watching your video, I thought, that Castiel is different from all rules of hell in fact, he is angel. He's has wings and it was before fall, but after God upgraded him. So maybe, he could physically fly to cage, where no demon could go and try get Sam through bars (with theirs healing and resurrecting abilities, there's no much concern about damaging body during process), but because cage was to hold Archangel(s), Lucifer couldn't go through it same way. Maybe because soul is similarly spiritual cage didn't let it through or, and I think this is more likely, because Lucifer was holding it and didn't let Sam leave(because Cass didn't know about Sam missing soul, if I remember right), soul stayed there.

While the Leprechaun idea is really funny and I think is honestly the most likely out of these, I have a theory myself. What if Cas resurrected Sam by rebuilding his body, without ever going into the actual Cage? We know the Cage is crazy difficult to open and has some really dangerous beings inside who have beef with Cas and might want to murder him if given an opportunity. We also know angels are able to resurrect people whose bodies have been completely destroyed. Sam and Dean burn Adam's body at the end of the episode where he's introduced, but a year later the angels are able to put him back on Earth when they need him. The main difference between the two scenarios is of course that the angels had access to Adam's soul and Cas didn't have Sam's soul. My idea is that Cas "braved hell", as he puts it, in an attempt to recover Sam's body, hoping that perhaps the Cage is only capable of holding spirits not flesh and Sam's body was discarded somewhere along the way as he fell in. We know this didn't happen as Adam and Michael were able to continue sharing Adam's body in there, but Cas also had other ways of obtaining at least a part of Sam. Namely time travel. Perhaps he quickly snuck into the past, grabbed a few strands of hair from Sam, and used that to help him reconstruct Sam's full physical body. And maybe he remained ignorant of Sam's lack of a soul because he was overjoyed in his success and didn't want to look deeper. Perhaps deep inside he suspected Sam's soul might still be in the Cage but didn't actually check prior to season 6 episode 7 because he didn't want to be disappointed. But I really like the Leprechaun explanation too. What would be even funnier is if God created the fairies specifically to be a backup plan or contingency tool he could turn to if he needed to mess with angels but didn't want to implicate himself or for some other reason didn't want to do it personally.

For all the work Castiel did for heaven and humanity I always thought Jack, the new God should have promoted Castiel to archangel. After all with the death of Michael, Raphael and Lucifer there were certainly openings for archangels.

This raises another question for me. If you can do that with someone in hell. Then why not heaven? What if you rescued someone's mind from heaven but not their soul? They would come back soulless and probably do alot of bad/evil things. Since they're already granted permission to heaven, how would that effect their judgement? Or would they not be judged because of no soul? When they get their soul back to their living body and feel remorse would it count against them then?

Can you do a vid on the pagan gods? Ive always been confused when it comes to virtually anything about them, where they come from or why they exist. So the killing of Lilith thing I don’t think it needs anything special only that it happens after the other 65 are broken so it could have been an angel or Dean with a knife or any of the dozens of ways you can kill demons in the show as long as she dosnt go early. The reason the demons and angels want Sam to do it is symmetry and Sam been Lucy’s perfect vessel (even though the Angels aren’t meant to know that) if he is there when Lucy gets out it makes it easier.

I would say prior to the seals getting there without being on gods lvl or close like death but before that ritual is done getting there at all for anyone is nearly impossible however once that is done anyone can get to lucifers cage it’s cracking it open that is the problem as it’s protected by the seals god himself put on it hence why death was able to get there and quite easily too, and why castiel was able to get there and he was powerful enough to crack it if even slightly and get sams body out , its implied that its very much possible when the archangel raphael says they will get lucifer and michael out and get their apocalypse going again, and raphael at that point is definitely stronger than cas so he should be able to do more than cas, and with the right ritual why rowena was able to affect it after it was cracked by amara getting out if her own seal

I am fairly positive it was stated that Death took Sam out of the cage, and later Dean convinced Death to pull Sam's soul out too. and that Death had put up a wall in Sam's mind to block out the memories of the torture Lucifer did to Sam while in the cage.

I have another question about Castile. You know when all angels fell because of him and Metatron. We see their wings are in a very poor state (all broken or ripped off completely) but why castiel’s wings are broken? He did not fall. His grace was in Metatron’s possession. Now, hear me out, Castiel was working with Crowley at this point. So, he would have access to the crossroad demon secrets and spells to get desired objects. If we go by this train of logic, Cas and Crowely WOULD be able to get Sam's body out, but his soul would end up being the default price for the spell, and thus it would stay in the cage. We could chalk up him claiming to "brave Hell" as him being poetic. P.S. Fairies in real world lore can't speak an outright falsehood, at the point the fairy episode came out the show was sticking pretty close the the actual lore. So I do believe the leprechaun could've gotten Sam's soul out, he could've also omitted a crucial fact about the process (a lie of omission is not an outright falsehood) and thus it would've screwed them over.

Honestly knowing about the cage and how to free someone is because of bad written. Remember the guy of this KZbin channel also stated that the writer probably forgot about some thing's later on down the line, and yeah i also agree.
