Cats understood early on that domesticating humans is the easiest way to colonize the galaxy.
@hohenzollern60256 ай бұрын
When the Vogons arrived at earth they found the dominate species and observed. Before first contact could be made, they need to make sure a species was going to be acceptable to the galactic order. This species however, had one major flaw. Slavery. Long since outlawed across the galaxy, this would need to be rectified, or, worse case scenerio, the entire planet purged. So contact was made with a representive of the earthlings. And thru the galactic translater it was explained that they must relenquish their slaves, or possibly face extermination. They recieved a one word reply: "Meow"
@hohenzollern60256 ай бұрын
It should be noted in the history books, it only took 500 cycles for the earthling to enslave the entire Galactic Empire. Every being, whether it be the warlike Trovels, to the insectoid Bathylews, is now a personal slave to an earthling. They dominate every home, of every planet. Aside from the humour we find in cats, there is a deeper side to them. A curative or, healing quality. They are shock absorbers. Mental sponges deliberately or not, draw from us our worries, our hurt, our sadness, and even, our wishes to be dead when life seems intolerable. I have 2 cats. And I've discovered, that all I need to do, is go to them and hold them in my arms, when things get so tough, I'm ready to give up. I love them very much. And as a family, they are more caring, more loving than my human family is. I'm so glad I've been honoured by having been adopted by these two little miracles-in-waiting. For, God only knows if I'd even be alive today if They had not rescued me. I've heard it said there is a reason why a cat comes into one's life. And, I'm now certain that a merciful Deity is behind the arrangement.

@@guimarottaThat's in the context of infant cats to their mothers and vice versa. He's referring to the fact that adult cats very rarely ever meow to each other. Cats have a parent-child relationship with humans, they tend to hold onto certain neotenous traits from their infancy into adulthood they wouldn't normally, because it benefits them to do so. They feel very safe and secure with their owners. A study was done using the safe base test and cats scored equally to human infants in security with their caretakers. This was higher than dogs, if only several percentage points. So it makes sense they may adapt to their human caretakers with certain characteristics. So while cats can survive without humans, they get a tremendous boost in health and happiness when they are with them.

The argument that cats only meow to humans doesn't hold up to scrutiny. There are many videos here on YT and elsewhere that show cats interacting with other cats outside and while some are silent as far as meowing is concerned, others are quite vocal in meowing to other cats. There's a great video, from China or another East Asian country, where the owner of a male cat put a collar camera on the cat and then the cat goes outside to its favorite hangout where many other cats also hangout. In one portion of the video the cat jumps up on a wall and sees a female cat he appears to like and he jumps off the wall and trots over to her all the while meowing with a particularly high pitched meow. Later on, perhaps another day, he approaches a ditch that many of the cats seem to hang around and as he approaches he begins meowing much as he did when he saw the female cat I mentioned before. I suspect his meow was 'pinging' to see if she was around. So while cats may meow to humans more often they do meow to other cats -- at least outside the home.
@stuartdollar99126 ай бұрын
What's the one common denominator about every KZbin video ever made? Some human had a camera. We've been a multiple cat household for 30 years. Our cats meow at us. Never to each other.
@Raptorman09096 ай бұрын
@@stuartdollar9912 In my experience growing up with cats they don't have the need to talk (meow) to each other except rarely, but in other videos the cats in an outside more public venue, with many other cats they don't live with, they can be and are vocal or very vocal including meowing. What we see as a cat owner with a cat that goes outside is that they're gone for a few hours and sometimes a few days -- now with these little cameras we see that all cats are little criminals that like to hang out and sometimes kick some a@@. And in a non-spayed group theres going to be at least one pregnant cat and a few others that are being hounded, yes hounded by male cats. The private lives of cats are way more interesting that most humans!
@joostdriesens39846 ай бұрын
I agree. I can observe my cat outside from my 3rd floor window. My cat has a cat friend in the neighbourhood. This cat is very fond of my cat and will meow to call her if he suspects she is around. It's very cute to see my cat popping up suddenly from somewhere in response to the call. 😽
@GarrisIiari6 ай бұрын
@@stuartdollar9912 not true about humans with cameras. Many of these videos have cats with GoPros on their collars with them interacting with other cats, and they will occasionally meow, certainly not as often as with humans though. And certainly with so many cats you must have seen mothers and kittens meow to each other. I've always thought cats that are raised with humans from being kittens see us as their parents, as a friend who adopts adult strays says it's rare they meow to her, so they don't see her that way unless raised by humans.

However cats are only semi-domesticated. Because a completely domestic cat doesn't have the skills we needed to control the vermin population. That's why they're seen as "aloof and independent" We needed them to be independent and razor sharp, But with the ability to not cause each other serious injury while in close proximity. And then they have enough domestication to be able to pick them up and transport them to where they are needed.

They prefer a low sound level, but not too low. They (and other animals) always know what time it is. Finally about cats’ “mirroring” behavior: it’s not mirroring or being a “copycat.” It’s wanting to help you with your tasks because, essentially, they’re grateful that you help them.

I now have 4 cats all strays, who just turned up over the years and just decided to move in. I'm now looking for someone who can write Cat to make me a house sign that says, "No Vacancies"

We domesticated dogs a long time ago Cats domesticated humans more recently. End of story. Dogs and humans have a much longer association and bond
