The completion of the massive South-to-North Water Diversion Project - transferring water from the Yangtze River in the southern part of China to northern China including to Beijing - also serves to prevent the need for over-pumping of groundwater. This has stopped land subsidence in Beijing and the other cities which were over dependent on groundwater.

Yes I hope they catch a lot of flood waters too and make good use of it. My only question is does the project use a lot of energy

I really marvel at the visionary wisdom of China's leaders in undertaking such important infrastructure projects to ensure the sustainable availability of water for consumption and recreational uses of its people, for agricultural, industrial and other uses. In the not too distant future, climate change will make water more precious than oil.

China's neighboring countries need to learn more from China to improve their lives and environment. They cannot get rich if their environment is sick. Only a healthy environment will improve their lives. Sustainable development is the core of the development foundation.

Chinese leadership is respected for their commitment to serving the country and its people. Do leaders from other nations share this same dedication?

Very little information value. It seemed like an introduction, and then it was over. It's more like a promo than a worthwhile video.

Asia used to have two rivers. One of them was the Assyrian river. The Assyrians are still fighting to preserve their own non-colonial history. When the Europeans destroyed the west river that went through Assyria, some of the Asians chose to save face and change their name instead. We got scarred, gunned down and bombed on trying to protect that river and the history of it. We didn’t sell our kids for money or for protection. What did China do to protect the water then? The Assyrians are still fighting to preserve their history even tho Asia took the second S out of the name after that river was destroyed. We did something when the top of Mt Everest was blown off with dynamite. We did something when they destroyed the Monkey King waterfall. We did something when they destroyed the Assyrian river. We even managed to preserve the real history even tho most of the Chinese don’t know what happened. What did China do?
