Clemenza wouldn’t be wearing a silk suit to cook in a diner. A heart attack is a fully sufficient cause of death given his age and weight. The Hagen thing is fanciful. My guess is Tom finally split from Michael and accepted a counsel position with a legit gaming company. He dies of natural causes, perhaps too many 3 martini lunches.

I don’t feel Tom would be caught off guard so easy he learned his lesson after getting taken by Salotso years before.

Thank you for a very interesting analysis. For me, Godfather 3 doesn't belong in the Godfather canon at all, the first two films stand together and that's it. The novels, whether the original or others, are separate things, the two films stand alone for continuing analysis and debate ( which I love btw). Therefore it's I submit, wrong to look to any books for 'answers' to the many ambiguities the two films present, it's for us as viewers to draw our own conclusions based on our own reasoning.

The expanded universe of the godfather is terrible. The Nick Herasi character is supposed to be some kind of Superman. The Geraci character, and the books as a whole read like bad comic books.

It was the worst tripe I’ve ever read. They wanted to crowbar in a load of alphabet community filth and ultimately disrespect the franchise.

Agreed, also the author described the characters physical appearance to be similar to his own. It was like reading some guys fantasy of living in that world.

@ I like when he was described as “more cunning than Michael, more kind than Fredo, tougher than Sonny” like who is this marvel character- that’s not a human. No dimension at all. And don’t get me started on the beginning where he was stranded in a forest, and he happens to stumble upon a completely stocked bunker with tons of food and books! And the magic bunker he finds also turns out to be a perfect place for him to be safe and recuperate. It was absolutely laughable and lazy writing. Straight out of a comic book. I’m glad the Puzos came out and distanced themselves from that fanfiction. It’s very thin and weak stuff, I’m surprised it even got published.

Richard Castellano was 38-39 when the Godfather was filmed.
@jondstewartАй бұрын
And many morbidly obese people die in their 40’s from heart attacks and the like. John Candy died at 43. Richard Castellano died at 55. It’s reasonable to assume Clemenza died of a heart attack around 50-something. He was a buddy of Vito and not much younger than him, if not the same age. Vito was in his early 60’s when he died.
@jondstewartАй бұрын
The Godfather 3 shouldn’t have been without Tom Hagen. There’s no reason he wouldn’t still be alive at 60-ish unless someone was a really horrible person in the family or if Tom had bad genetics and happened to die from some disease, even though he didn’t smoke and a moderate drinker. Tom was always the most level-headed and low-key person in the family that played his cards well and stayed respectable. But he was a poor consigliere. He couldn’t even see Don Barzini was pulling strings and calling the shots at the truce meeting.
@PaulBrown-fp6ugАй бұрын
Agree partially but remember, many long time Capo's could not see Barzini's involvement Barzini was a typical, shrewd and dangerous Godfather. They never let anyone know exactly what they are doing You cannot defend an unseen attack

Clemenza also had gout, maybe they instigated his heart attack by poisoning him with that would raise his bp 🤔

Where did Frankie come from, anyway? He wasn’t even a button man in the family. He was written into the script! Perhaps he was the man playing the piano when the men have gone to the mattresses before Don Corleone returns home.

He was written into GFII when Castellano bowed out. The piano player was Coppola's father.

1) I don't get the need to have AI do the narration. Just do it yourself and run with it. Have fun with it. 2) While Tom may have been a "great lawyer" he was a lousy consiglieri. 3) The scene where Sonny shoves Fat Clemenza up against the wall always seemed forced to me to illustrate Sonny's temper. Southern Europeans don't disrespect people who are loyal to their father. That is really the only problem that I ever had with the first movie. 4) I will always wonder how Ron Jeremy, of all people, got a role as an extra in Part III. But it makes sense because that movie was so bad.

It's crazy to get a comment like that from someone who's been subscribed to this channel for two years. I'm not an AI, and I never have been. It's really insulting, especially when you put in hours of work to receive comments like this. If I were AI, I'd be uploading videos every day. KZbin is slowly turning into Facebook, if they see a faceless channel, they automatically assume it's run by AI.

Clemenza undoubtedly died of a cardiac arrest. It was coming, you could see and expect it. Tom Hagen remained Michael's brother to the end. I suspect he was probably eliminated by a rival gang in a hit message to Michael. Another brother down, "watch your back, we can get closer if necessary". I doubt Michael ordered Tom's death. Furthermore, you are bringing other writers into the story laid out by Mario Puzo. This is a mistake in my opinion. The book and first two - possibly three films, are masterpieces. Fans have studied them in detail. I'm willing to listen to speculation based on those texts, even Copolla's, but not from others.

Clemenza died cause he wanted Pacino money and wanted his girlfriend to rewrite his own lines. Duvall on the other hand , liked his lines but wanted even more than Pacinos salary. So it was the Greed that killed them lol
