When it comes to the Novel, reasons why Barzini wasn't shaken by Moe's death. One, he was too highed up on himself to notice; he didn't consider Michael a threat, more like a 2- bit punk in a suit; and a space cadet or a girl scout could've whacked Moe. Moe was a well connected Gambler/Crook. Yeah he built Vegas but he wasn't well protected and had a big mouth.

The meeting with Moe Greene was more than a negotiation-it’s a strategic masterclass, a practical application of The Art of War in the world of the mafia. What if there was a way to unlock that clarity and gain the upper hand in every situation? artofwar.academy 🤫 🐉

Micheal was pretty much a younger Vito, the book talked about that a lot. Where Sonny had to be told everything and didn't bother listening anyway, Micheal already had a mind for the family business, even if he didn't want any part in it. When it came time to teaching him, Vito only had to relay experience, not the fundamentals and Micheal was ready and willing to listen. He was born to cause death and make money.

Fredo's low-key resentment at being passed over nearly got his father and baby brother killed and had he lived would have destroyed The Family.
@amirbell110 күн бұрын
Agreed. That was the problem. He never looked in the mirror and accepted responsibility for the close assasination of Don Vito. If he was any other man, they would kill him. Its a mistake that is untolerable. You can almost say it was the beginning of the demise of Fredo. He could have been a secret mole within the family all along. I know we dont think he was too bright, but with the weakness of Fredo, he could have been used just as early. I know some will say he would never because of Vito and Sonny, but think. Who else would fumble a gun when his father is being attacked and recover from it. Because of his position in the family, Fredo failed up when he was never ready at all, and did not have or use the suppporting cast to succeed. Also, there is some culpability on Don Vito for Fredo's position.
@anthonyperno134828 күн бұрын
When Mo Green mentions that the don is sick and weak and suggests by projection that the family is also weak, Al Pacino gives the slightest reaction of weakness. At that moment, for just a moment, he shifts his intense gaze off Green and looks at the table. Beautiful subtle reaction. Great actors are great listeners, e.g. Robert Mitchum knew how to listen.

Fredo is the middle child, so it is likely that had Sonny still been alive when Michael met with Moe, Fredo would not have been is such a position, and Moe would have been more respectful. However, in their eyes, Sonny, the crown prince, is dead, the spare is a fool, and Michael is a third-string tagalong. Fredo should have been using his time in Vegas to strengthen his position, but he was content to merely coast in place while slowly becoming embittered. At the very least, he should have been feeding information back to Vito and Michael about things in Vegas. In the end, I think that Sonny would have done from the beginning what Michael did not, cut Fredo from the family business. Michael tried to rule as his father had, but he should have completely disconnected Fredo from the illegitimate side of the business, making him useless to Roth.
@Shessohiphop727 күн бұрын

When Hyman Roth says "Moe Green was talking loud, saying stupid things," he is referring to the fact that Moe Green, a casino owner associated with Roth, was being overly boisterous and making unwise comments, likely revealing sensitive information or potentially jeopardizing their business dealings, which ultimately led to his assassination orchestrated by Michael Corleone. Key points about the quote: "More Green": This is a shortened way of saying "Moe Green," a character known for his flashy lifestyle and gaudy casinos. "Talking loud": Implies that Moe Green was openly discussing things he shouldn't be, potentially bragging or making careless remarks. "Saying stupid things": This means that the things Moe Green was saying were not only loud but also foolish and potentially damaging to their business interests.

Agreed. It was Fredo's first time with Power. If I recall correctly, he had no position in the family. He was not as strong as, Sonny. When he was called upon, he fumbled the ball protecting Vito. Maybe Vito should have spent more time grooming him for leadership instead of putting all his eggs in the basket with Sonny. I am not talking about grooming him as head of the fanily but more of a secondary role (I could be wrong. He may have already. Possibly, deleted scenes. I need re-read the book). Then again it goes to show, you can never plan enough with an empire. It is constant and all risks need addressing at all times.
