There's a tall two-story cedar tree outside our window. It's high main trunk splits into three smaller trunks halfway up. I look at this and see ONE tree, but nature decides that it has split into three. Even though it has three separate growths, does not mean that it is 3 trees. It is still ONE tree. They all come from the One tree that feeds them from the root. The tree is one tree, but has three parts. Just because God in His infinite knowledge and being decides that He is ONE, but may have two extensions of himself which is part of him, doesn't mean we can just rationalize about who He is or isn't.

Only problem is trinitarians believe if one of the 3 is missing it’s no longer God. Like if a triangle is missing a corner it’s no longer a triangle. A tree is still a tree if a branch gets chopped. This tree analogy doesn’t work for the trinity.

I can tell you what I understood through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and through the confirmation that the prophetic writings give, the Malak of the covenant called the angel of the eternal is a theophany in which God descended in his own name, in fact in Exodus three the malak from the burning bush said that he heard the cry of slavery of his people and "came down" elsewhere it is written that in the Malak there is the name of God, so yes, if Jesus is the image of the invisible God and whoever saw Christ saw the father, even as regards this particular theophany of God it is the same thing, even if we are talking about a manifestation outside the incarnation, in a spiritual messenger, to confirm this you can go and read Malachi 3:1 where it says that the Lord, the angel of the covenant will enter his temple, immediately after John the Baptist, therefore the scripture identifies Jesus Christ in his incarnation with the same Angel of the covenant who is the one who appeared to Moses in the burning bush.

So. Let’s look at what the OT tells us about God… we have Elohim Yahweh - whom in the NT we would call him Father, but, no Jew in antiquity would dare to call Him as such… Then, we have the Davar Yahweh - the Word or action of God … and of course we have Ruach Yahweh. We need to ask ourselves - as you believe - would in stand in the Ancient Judaic Mind? Then we have the NT - where we find ‘ego emini’ - I AM… Logos (Word) and of course we have Pneumos (Wind)… which the NT writers were correlating to the Judaic teachings… Oh, and we mustn’t forget Chokhmah of the OT - and in the NT - Sophos… We see that Wisdom came down …. There is only One saving name - Jesus Christ - who is the only True God - who was sent down for our sakes and our salvation… when I say ‘Our Father’ - I am speaking to the ego emini… the Great I AM… Elohim Yahweh… The Righteousness of God - is not an abstract thing… rather the Righteousness of God is a person - the Wisdom from all ages - who was sent down and dwelt among us… Jesus Christ is the express image of God …. We see the Father, who reveals Himself to us - who calls us unto Himself - through his dear Son… and enables us by the Holy Spirit. So. This Trinitarian knows precisely in Whom I believe… and I know how I believe … I also know - that how most Oneness Pentecostals would assert their teachings - as IAW Deut 6:4… Ancient Judaism would entirely reject. The beginning of the text says that:- "GOD, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets". Who are meant by fathers here?, Are they the ancestors of the Jews?, or from Adam to the tribes. - In the first case, GOD spoke to the prophets and the prophets were transmitted to the ancestors, so HE did not speak to the ancestors since the prophets were intermediaries. - As for the second case from Adam to the tribes, they are actually called fathers and GOD spoke to them directly in divers manners, all of which are appearances, HE appeared walking to Adam, and appeared to Abraham as a human being and to Jacob and Moses as an Angel of the LORD and to the tribes in a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire by the prophets, that is, as the Holy Book mentioned. In the last days HE spoke to us by His Son, that is, GOD the Father appeared through His Son and spoke to us.
@chetanpaulr4 ай бұрын
So you conclude that "the prophets" mentioned plurally was preincarnate Jesus Christ? It's illogical to me, what i understood is that God spoke in divers manners not only by the prophets but to the prophets and the father, the subjects are the Fathers and the prophets not only fathers so what the verse actually says is that God spoke in divers manners in sundry times to the prophets, and also by the prophets we should selah after the father's, so the subjects are whoever God spoke to in times past be it to the fathers or by the prophets in divers manners

Greetings! I respectfully disagree with you. "By" has more than one meaning, for example: by /bī/ preposition 1. identifying the agent performing an action. 2. indicating the means of achieving something. Granted, a trinitarian will read "the agent performing an action" into the text, but that is just a doctrinal bias, better known as eisegesis. Until Christ is fully formed in us all, -james

The Bible also says He’s the firstborn of all creation
@davidcoleman58604 ай бұрын
Yes, it does. And your point? The term "firstborn" doesn't necessarily imply "the first person born in a series." According to Psalm 89:27, God promised to make David His firstborn, and He defines in the next clause what He means: David would be higher than the kings of the Earth. David was neither the first son born of Jesse, nor was he the first person born of humanity. "Firstborn," thus, carries the idea of preeminence. So, in God's eternal plan and foreknowledge, He intended to exalt the man Christ Jesus to a preeminent position above all creation. As the lamb was slain from the foundation of the world, so was Christ exalted. This is not speaking of a literal second person who was created prior to the Universe.

Have you ever considered that the man Christ Jesus was always there from the beginning? How about the literal words of the Bible? We are saying in this video that God cannot transcend time and He cannot physically know his human son before his son was born. However, he knew Jeremiah before Jeremiah was born. Could it be that we are inconsistent and that’s why we can’t get our message perfectly across to the Trinitarian? Why can’t we just say God made everything by for and through the man Christ Jesus? Why do we have to go around saying he made everything by for and through himself? I think the true first century oneness teaching was God inside Jesus. Not God as Jesus or God alongside Jesus as Incarnationists teach. Trins teach God the Son. Modern oneness teaches God the son. The only difference between the two are capital letters on son. They are ruled by the Roman Catholic Church. Think about it. Also, God made Adam in the likeness of his human son that he never actually met? Again, the creator of time cannot transcend time? We are going around telling everybody that God predicted instead of foreknew the son. We don’t allow ourselves to see the prophecies of the son in present tense as they were written in Psalm 22 and Psalm 2. We clearly see God transcending time. In Psalm 2, God is observing his son being begotten that day. And Psalm 22 he is observing his son on the cross. We teach that Jesus was quoting Psalm 22 but actually Psalm 22 was quoting Jesus. I don’t think we understand God very well. One last thing. The sacrifices from Abel unto the end of the millennial was a memorial to Jesus. The man Christ Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world. God witness did himself. He broadcasted what He witnessed to us in Psalm 22. It was not just a prophecy, but it was actuality to God who transcends time. If God does not transcend time, then time rules over God. Take your pic.

If I were stuck alone on a remote island and had never read a bible, but found one lying on the sand, and read it through, I still wouldn't come to Dr. Bernard's conclusions. Call me under-educated or simple, but when reading the bible, without outside doctrinal interferences, I would still believe scripture that there is our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, who He sent. God understands that many have the incapacity to understand allthe mysteries of God. To me, if He says "His beloved Son" then I believe He has a Son, and my only carnal understanding of Father and Son is just that.......Father and Son. This obsessiive need by Oneness teachers to harangue other doctrinal believers about the Godhead gets many weary and confused. Wouldn't it be better to show Christ to the world, act like Him, and just let the Holy Spirit teach and guide every believer? All those centuries with all the arguments, and STILL..........Jesus Christ is the Head of HIS church and nothing can come against it. He has every ability to protect His Church, despite the Oneness or Trinitarian view. I still pray that the UPCI realizes they do no good to separate themselves from other true believers. The "I am right and you are wrong" attitude doesn't equip or encourage.
@davidcoleman58604 ай бұрын
You're attacking a straw man. Elder Bernard wasn't "haranguing" anybody. He was simply answering a Bible question. Trinitarians will often "refute" our doctrine by citing biblical passages like Hebrews 1. We simply let the Bible define itself. Now, you refer to being stuck on a remote island and doubting that you would come to the conclusions that we do on critical passages. Well, if you won't accept what we say, would you respect what trinitarian apologist, James White, has said about the matter? He has more than once stated that the significant majority of Evangelical believers have a modalist concept of the Godhead. Now, think about that. These Evangelicals are not Oneness converts. They were either converted from the world into their churches or raised therein. Not being subject to Oneness "propaganda," they nonetheless continue to see God through a modalist lens and not through a trinitarian one. Moreover, Latin Trinitarianism represents the significant majority of Trinitarian theology in the world. However, it has been criticized by Social Trinitarians like William Lane Craig (noted apologist and defender of theism) as being modalistic! In other words, if these trinitarian critics are correct, the majority of Christians worldwide are _de facto_ Modalists! So, even if your remote island experience wouldn't lead you to the Oneness conclusion, many, many people who were never exposed to Oneness Pentecostalism nevertheless see the Godhead in similar terms. However, your later comments seem to indicate that your main beef is with our soteriological stance. Instead of "haranguing" us about being separate from other "true believers" (as if that could persuade us to abandon clear biblical teaching), bring biblical reasons why our stance is incorrect. I would guess that your comments are based on what you think the Bible "really" teaches, but if you can insist on biblical conformity, then you lack the warrant to criticize other "true believers" for doing the same.

It is a serious error to say Jesus did not exist until he was born on earth. John 17:5 (NLT) "Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began." • Jesus certainly existed in the person of "Son of God". • He even shared glory with his Father, actually well before this (our) world existed. • And yes, the LORD God created, and He created everything through the Son of God. There's a horrific revelation concerning believers who believe this error: • They cannot claim to know Jesus Christ, the Savior sent by God. • Without Jesus, they cannot come to know God, the Father. (Jn 14:6) • Not knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, they have no eternal life. (Jn 17:3) They are thus certainly not saved, but are living in a state of delusion.

Regardless of what side you land on with this, please take some time to consider the Christology that you are committing to. If you’re comfortable with defining “Son of God” as strictly referring to the dwelling of God in the incarnation, then you end up committing to a position that there is a beginning and an ending to the Son of God as such. Dr. Bernard even argues for this in his books. Practically, this view sees God as transforming into a man for a time and then, after uniting the redeemed world back to God, returning back into God (with the provision that God reserves the ability to transform into a man at any time as a sufficient, though not necessary revelation of who He is). Personally, this Christology explains a lot of what appears to be mysterious in the Bible (like the opening passage of Hebrews), but it creates a new mystery to contend with. I.e. what will the revelation of God be once the revelation of the Son of God has ended?

Hello, Nick. Not all Oneness Pentecostals believe that God morphed into a man. If God is immutable, that would be impossible. The burning bush manifested God, but the bush qua bush was not God. God appeared in a whirlwind, but the dust and oxygen, as such, we're not God. Similarly, God's flesh temple isn't God, and it won't be annihilated when redemption is complete. Even though the office will terminate, the body of Christ will not.

@@HeWhoHasSeenMe Hello! When considering Jesus, we consider both the human life (nature) and the purpose of the Sonship. There is the identity of the Son and the role of the Son: _1 John 3_ _8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil._ There is coming a day when redemption's work will be complete---when literally the last person will be saved. Thus, evangelism, prayer for the lost and the new birth will come to an end. That “role” or function will cease. That's what we mean by the office of Sonship. Jesus will no longer make intercession for the saints because their earthly sojourn will have ended. However, the Son will not cease to exist. God will continue to be expressed in the face of Jesus Christ everlastingly. He will always be the visible expression of the invisible God (2 Cor. 4:6; Heb. 1:3).

@ Matthew 11:27 (“All things have been handed over to me by my Father,” ESV), and John 16:15 (“All that belongs to the Father is mine,” NIV). Early Church Fathers were attracted to these verses because of the “all.” Athanasius argued that if the Father has everlastingness, eternality, and immortality, and if the Father has given “all” that He has to the Son, then the Son must possess these attributes as well, and He must possess them eternally, otherwise He would not really possess everlastingness, eternality, and immortality!
@collin5013 ай бұрын
@@mloy1915 that makes sense. But I wonder if that’s really necessitated. Like this verse. It says “granted” which doesn’t seem to have an eternal sense, but something in time. When I think of eternally begotten I think nature, not decision. I don’t see this in line with Athanasius’ thinking “For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.” John 5:26-27 Also, aren’t we supposed to be given eternal life? What’s the difference?

So. If I am understanding Dr Bernard correctly - Mary is the Mother of God - or did the JWs and the Unitarians get it right… and Jesus was just a creature infused with Spirit of God… but wasn’t actually God?
@davidcoleman58604 ай бұрын
You clearly don't understand anything about the Oneness doctrine if you think we deny the deity of Jesus. And the phrase "mother of God" is commonly misunderstood by detractors. Those who are comfortable with the phrase _do not_ believe that Mary created God or that God has an efficient cause. The phrase was designed to deny, in part, Nestorianism and to affirm that the one who was born was God in flesh. It's no different than saying that God died on the cross in the person of Christ.
@realmccoy1244 ай бұрын
@@davidcoleman5860 - thanks for your response. Mary is the Theotokos - the God bearer - and this term of endearment was expressed long before the rise of the Nestorian heresy who began referring her as the Christotokos - because Nestorianism did reject the teachings of Church - who lessened Christ God to a man infused with the spirit of God. Salvation is created with the Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin. An example of modern day Nestorianism is the Australian Bishop Mar Mari whose fame spread during Covid on TikTok.
@davidcoleman58604 ай бұрын
@@realmccoy124 Yes, most certainly, _theotokos_ originated prior to Chalcedon. It appeared that Nestorius challenged that, so the position of "God bearer" was reaffirmed. Nonetheless, whether one is a Latin, Eastern or Social Trinitarian, relegating the consciousness and will of Jesus to the human nature unavoidably extends to two persons, whether or not it is expressly denied in creedal statements. A person is a substance with a rational nature. Clearly, the human nature of Jesus, as defined by Trinitarians, could be ignorant of facts and could learn. These are not attributes of God.

@@davidcoleman5860 - you are correct. The fullness of the godhead is displayed in Christ God. I clearly DO know the teachings of the UPCI … and how it closely aligns with the Montantist movement … along with the Bishop Sabellius - who, like Nestorius, Arius, did also present teachings that were not in agreement with the teachings and traditions of the Church. Christ is our true God… but, I don’t think you will find a scripture that says ‘God died on the Cross’…. But you will find Scripture that says Christ died for us. The Creed - which is generally ignored by OP folks… defends the deity of Christ against Arianism and Nestorianism - it also defends the Faith from Rome’s innovation.

@@realmccoy124 1 John 3:16 states, "Hereby perceive we the love _of God,_ because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down _our_ lives for the brethren." Though the words "of God" are not in the Greek text, it is clearly implied given the general context of said chapter (cf. vss. 1-2). I will give you, however, that most Apostolic ministers abjure statements like "mother of God" or "God died for us" due to the perceived nod to Catholic or Eastern theology. I have argued with my fellow Oneness ministers that such a concern is ill-founded. If we believe that Jesus is God, then most certainly Mary is the mother of God, and God died for us in the person of Christ. Now, since we're not Trinitarian, we do not recognize the authority of any Catholic/Orthodox creed. We may happen to agree with a statement here and there, and will state so when the occasion arises, but that doesn't imply that we recognize the authority of the entire creed or of the body which produced it.

You are good at gymnastics. Jesus is God. Yes. Jesus is the Son, not the Father. God is one. Yes. He however is three in one. Example. Genesis 2, he refers to himself in the plural. Baptism of Jesus, all three present in that moment. And to be manifest, is not to be fully something. Jesus is God in the flesh. The Father is a spirit. The father never leaves heaven. Jesus in Revelation 5 opens the book that the Father is holding. You are so entirely wrong. The use of ownership and personal language to describe and actual son and Father. Also, they can't just be "titles." If God is one and only one in your theology. How can he be his own son and his own father, if not for having a distinction of persons in his Godhead? You are beyond lost on this entire subject.

Jehovah God said, "Let us make man in our image". Who is us? The Trinity. Not the angels. Not one person, because the text says "us", plural. The Hebrew we translate for God is Elohim, which is plural, not singular. The more he explains Heb. 1, the digger hole he digs. His explanation makes no sense

Show the scripture that have the words Trinity, triune, three in one. The trinity doctrine is outside of scripture. One God The Greek word Kai is translated as and, it is John 17:11 in the Greek text. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. Jesus = YHVH Even or that is. The word And does not mean another person. Matt 28:19 says NAME singular which is Jesus. All you have to do is read through acts and notice when they mentioned baptism. Jesus is considered the Lamb of God, the King of Kings, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the High Priest. And you believe that, but you don’t believe that One God can be all of that and more. Isaiah 44:6-8 KJVS [6] Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. [8] Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it ? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. Revelation 1:7-8 KJVS [7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. [8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. There can’t be two first and last. Isaiah 9:6 KJVS [6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Why is Jesus called / Identified as the Mighty God, and the everlasting Father? 1 Timothy 3:16 KJVS [16] And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. God put on flesh, and became as a man. Colossians 2:8-9 KJVS [8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. [9] For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Jude 1:25 KJVS [25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. All that God is resides in the Body of Jesus. Acts 20:28 (NKJV) 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. God is Spirit. How does a Spirit have blood? There is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. So God produced a human body to be sacrificed for the payment of sin for all. Well over 300 times the singular pronoun is used when speaking of God. The Greek Τριάδα is translated trinity. Not once is it used by the Apostles, nor of the OT writers. The OT is clear that ONE God was taught, then after the Apostles died He changed His mind? Mark 12:29 KJVS And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: Zechariah 12:10 (KJV) 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon ME whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Who was pierced? Zechariah 14:9 (NKJV) 9 And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be- “The LORD is one,” And His name one. John 20:26-28 (KJV) 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. John 14:21 KJVS He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. The ONE GOD comes by revelation as you seek to Know Him instead of your own understanding. Mark 12:32 KJVS And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: Notice the pronoun He not them. Jewish religion only taught strict monotheism. Trinity is not monotheism.
