Not that I want to take any credit away from VR1… but wouldn’t the engine have been steam cleaned with 280 degree coolant?

You know... I hadn't thought about it like that. But I'm not a scientist so I have no idea if it works like that.

I suspect the coolant did a lot of the cleaning
@Chase_Werner2 ай бұрын
@@Talynen Track cars don't run antifreeze. If they have any leaks on track the coolant causes the track to get really slick, so typically all cars are required to run water only in their systems. Water in a cooling system doesn't boil despite being above boiling point because it's under pressure.

Ben, please... The hottest air coming into your engine bay comes from the radiator. All that radiant heat is being absorbed by vacuum pressure of the engine. Make a ram-air closed-box intake to isolate the filter from the hot air in the engine bay, and make an intake tube that creates a ram-air effect by aiming the airflow directly onto the filter. Your IATs are probably soaring on track. I'd put the snorkel for the intake in front of the radiator near the top, similar to the current L15-series intake system or the system for the K20C1 on the CTR, to allow the intake to scavenge for the extra air that didn't pass through the radiator. Also, make sure the radiator is sealed off on the front on all sides to prevent air leaks.

It’s possible that under such high stress conditions cavitation in the water pump could cause the pulley to kick and shred a belt, especially being at WOT so often
@martindworak2 ай бұрын
@@jamescannone1425 cavitation is by definition air which is compressible, water is not so water is more likely to “kick” than air. But, the water pump has specially designed vanes not to “kick” or rotate backwards. I think the dude who suggested that the belt broke because of the pump just pulled that out his ass, and his friend knew it, but in the end was nice about it, and just called it “a heck of a theory”

I don't know if we can attribute the cleanliness of the engine to the long terms use of Valvoline. It would be more likely that the water mixing with the oil at extreme temperatures while running would be pumping steam through the entire engine basically steam cleaning everything. The oil would have been vapourized and would take all of the caked on shit with it. Valvoline makes great products, but i dont know of they perform miracles 😅

The "Secret Agent Mission Impossible" scene was priceless. LOL Need more of that on this channel. Like a Mock F&F meets The Spy World, would make this channel quite unique. You Mark, Ben, and others involved could give the channel a twist that other channels don't have. It could be a lot of fun and highly entertaining to your audience. Mark, hey at least you're not working on another 4g63, there's that little Silver Lining. Hmmm Maybe get a forged from the factory Old school VR6 and turbo that thing. LOL Yes the 15 angle 12v head needs cams and a hell of a specific type of P&P and bigger valves, but it's tough as nails and responds very well to F/I. I know for the most part you never do Euro but lets admit it, there is no other car that sounds like a 12v 2.8/2.9L VR6. Yeah this is just a wish and not realistic. I can see Ben in a bad ass VW 2.9L VR6 Corrado. Ben, The Zx2 in the background has to be your coolest car. The embodiment of taking a basic compact car and doing something cool with it. Too bad Ford didn't give it the potential that the body made it look like it had. Is the Zx2 kind of done with and a nice trophy or do you still mess with it?

I recommend buying a cover for the engine harness connector in your engine bay. It's cheap insurance to make sure you don't bend a pin or get other FOD in the connector while you're working in the engine bay with the engine pulled. Rework and repair on an already assembled harness would suck. PN for your specific connector would is MS3181-24NA.
