silverfish are a tell-tale sign that your house has a moisture problem, either leaking pipes or even from sprinklers hitting the siding and causing water to penetrate the walls. Fix the moisture problem first, then you can set traps.

Question from a learning housewife....how do I get rid of moisture in my home? It's old, and I live in Florida so it's constantly humid here outside 😬 what do I do?

I moved a tote on my fireplace and I saw a ton of them scatter. Then I have a pile of clothes in a different area maybe 15 ft away and they were under the clothes. They’re in my other fireplace too. I think they’re coming from the furnace room and unfinished closet across from it. Either way they’re creepy because they’re fast.

I think you may have firebrats instead of silverfish. I hear they look very similar.

can you get them because of led lights. ive have heard this multiple times before but dont know if its true
@goodintentions13023 жыл бұрын
Food grade Diatomaceous earth is an inexpensive better way to get rid of them. Of course you need to keep humidity below 50% for them & a large range of other reasons.

Thanks I didn’t know it was destructive to paper and fabrics. Taking a shower makes my bathroom humid and there is always water in the basement. Maybe that’s why it came in.

Recently I moved into a new basement apartment that has had plumping/pipe issues since day 1. Well, a drain clogged and the apartment flooded for hours while I worked... Got it taken care of with dehumidifiers and fans, however now I'm seeing silverfish. Does this mean there is a mold problem? Can they migrate to other apartments and cause a never ending infestation issue? Pest control is coming by to take a look, but I'm very grossed out by the whole situation.
@Amber23683 жыл бұрын
Same! Maintenance came in and put down these pest boxes, but they don't seem to be helping. I'm worried they're in my closet eating my clothes, or worse, like in my bed. I already want to move out. 😭
@SS-hj4ls3 жыл бұрын
@@Amber2368 maintenance actually called in a 3rd party pest control to take care of it (he sprayed) and it worked. He informed me that they won't actually eat my valuables? However, I don't quite trust what he said 🤷 Take a look at your lease, do you pay a monthly fee for "pest control" ? If so, I'd throw a fit with the leasing office honestly 🤷🤦

I just dropped a Benadryl that ended up under the edge of my recliner. I was on my hands and knees looking for it. I moved my charging cord and saw something silver and slimy looking wiggling around trying to dig itself deeper in the carpet. I thought it was maybe a piece of a silver candy wrapper or foil that just moved very weirdly when I moved the charging cable. But, I was interested on how it moved so weird. Then it moved again and FREAKED ME TF OUT!!! I was deathly afraid to touch it but I didn't wanna kill it. I've NEVER EVER seen one of these before and had absolutely no idea what it was!! Thought it was some kind of alien bug from another planet, 😂🤣😂. But, I didn't want to kill it until I figured out what it was. Thank God for Google Lens!! I couldn't describe it to Google in words so I had to take a picture and search for it with Google Lens. I'm not gunna lie, I'm a lil freaked out because I guess if there's 1, then there are a bunch more just hiding from plain site!!

These bugs gave me nightmares when I was little to the point of PTSD where Id think Id see one crawling on the walls, theyre not even harmful but they were so annoying and unsightly, like imagine having a home and some BUG just randomly crawls around, its embarrassing, at least I never had roaches. Now Im pestered by FRUIT FLIES and MOSQUITOS.

no it’s actually a good thing, it means that the centipedes are taking care of whatever infestation that’s going on. soon when the quantity of that infestation lessens, the centipedes will go back outside.
