@Trudie Bason hey girl ok so even though I have been a dealer for years subscribing to Laura was a great thing because you learn from this newer generation who kind of make you see through they're eyes on different styles! With Catherineholm which isn't a name but instead a factory in Norway back in the day .. So feel it first then look at the pattern! (This is the lotus pattern) came in several colors! It should feel substantial no signatures! This was definitely my most interesting find because as they were in my cart a lady screamed in Goodwill CATHERINEHOLMMmm! The workers came out from the back trying to give me all orange bowls Rubbermaid Tupperware etc .... Lol Anyway be diligent and make it a everyday or every other day thing! You'll find it! My other score was a 14k Tanzanite and diamond bracelet at salvation army! For 3.99 I sold it last month for 800.00!!! Keep thrifting it's out there!!! I'm on Instagram you can see the 8 pieces!

The actual quilting on the piece you saw is likely what made the price what it was. Much more intricate and that is part of the artistry of quilting. Gorgeous!

Those lamps and vases look like Émile Gallé, Nancy School, Art Nouveau. There is a workshop in Romania - where I am from - that mastered Gallé's unique technique and they were allowed to use his signature on their pieces. They still make them. Obviously not as valuable as the authentic Gallé pieces that came out of his workshop, but still beautiful. I have a small lamp of theirs that I love. On the subject of monogrammed objects, I'm obsessed with sterling monogrammed bookmarks - so decadent 😊

Hi Laura...I was so surprised when i saw the signature on that pottery pitcher. I believe Steph (Stephen) was a local potter in my home town circa early 1990's. During that time we had a great ceramics class at our local community college. He also worked as a table games dealer at one of our local casinos, The Pioneer in Laughlin Nevada. Eventually he opened a shop in the nearby ghost town of Oatman AZ. He loved working with crystal glazes and gave me a crystal vase for my birthday once. I remember that day because he said (and I quote) I hope someday to find everything I need in the air that surrounds me, and maybe he did in Sacramento and looks like someone left a little piece for you too😊

I live in the East Bay San Francisco area and our Goodwill's are basically horrible. Empty shelves mostly, smelly clothing, no good glass/pottery because anything of value goes to the auction site. Oh, the least you'll pay for shoes is $14.99. Some actual charity thrifts are nice but overpriced on almost everything. I seldom find much at thrifts anymore, do better at estate sales on the last day. Got a box of over 100 Hagen Reneker mini animals for $10. Should sell for over $1K.

I would love your opinion on shopping at Evergreen Goodwills in the smaller towns in Snohomish Skagit Whatcom Counties in Washington State. Its so sad these days. Legitimately: all studio pottery STARTS at $9.99, most comes out at $24.99. Anything remotely vintage or Collectible is now Orange tagged starting at $14.99 and those tags NEVER go on Sale. Recently they changed the all jewelry to Black tags, raised all prices $5.00 per item and they NEVER go on sale. There has been such an increase in the popularity of vintage and I guess these new customers are willing to pay outrageous prices.

Have never thrifted in Sacramento either, so definitely will make that a stop when I take my annual trip to the Bay Area. The beautiful ceramic pitcher you got at the Goodwill Boutique to me seemed very low priced--our Goodwill in little Grants Pass, OR has been charging 10.99 and up for any pottery. And that small organic shaped piece you thought reminiscent of Victoria Littlejohn --I am in love! It does remind me of a sea urchin. Hope you have that in your First Friday listings, I may have to try to snag that one. Thanks for another great video, Laura! ❤

The Galle glass is called cameo glass and is cut away in layers. I once found a d'Argenthal Cameo vase for 3.50 at a yard sale and sold it for 750. My theory on the Scandinavian wooden magazine rack is that one would slide the magazines between the dowels. Similar to an album rack...?
