Mark, this is one of the best videos in recent months. Really happy for Matt. We all laugh, but I'm sure he felt pressure, joking aside. Good to see him "happier". He was going through a very black phase. You're having fun, but it is one of the first videos where Matt opens up. Well proud! I'd give anything to hit the ball (at 58) like Matt. Without wanting to sound corny its "humanizing" the videos. You guys go through pain as well and its good to see you share these moments. Thanks.

These are some of my favorite videos, outside the vlogs, when you find something one of you have corrected or improved...and then describe how you did it. I know it doesn’t necessarily apply to me, but helps me learn how to find the feeling. Through lessons, yes, but understanding what works for each person.

Love that sense of confidence and happiness coach is radiating some one might say he’s going roque I really hope people understand the major amount of talent it takes to diagnose understand the diagnoses and then know how to change it for the better and this is all being done while he does vids edits vids and gives a ton of time and commitment to make others better. Good for you coach know that wether your driving it right left low high, being a putting god or not showing us chipping magic or not some of us know underneath it all just how good you really are and know we appreciate your professionalism and efforts to always move this silly game forward and work so hard to bring smiles to others when they hit the course with there drivers etc.

Thank you Mark and MATT for this video. More than anything, I appreciate the honesty from Matt on his effort to improve. You both are tremendous "students" of the game, constantly learning from us real students coming to you, yes, looking for that Holy Grail (as you've mentioned before). But it's videos like this that I learn the most from. When PGA Professionals like yourselves are communicating what it takes for you to improve your game, it drives home to me, the real effort it takes to better myself. I truly love this game and the content that you and your team provide. Keep up the great work. And yes...WATCH OUT FOR COACH LOCKEY!!!

Glad to see the Magic is back! I just went through a very similar experience while getting a lesson/club fitting by a PGA Professional in Las Vegas. Many of the things that Lockey Magic described with his swing were what I was going through. A few swing suggestions by the Pro and a couple of club adjustments to the Driver, 3 Wood & Hybrid and all of a sudden I'm hitting good repeatable golf shots again! The bottom line is to not wait too long to get a lesson, because the good shots and confidence can come back quickly with an instructor pointing out and helping you with what you can't see.

+Mark Crossfield, Mark hi? Stunning video. Just enormous. I've had the same coach for over 6-8 years. The changes he made to my swing and now I'm 51; has been positively tumultuous!!! Just like Lockie, the benefits are incredible. 3 hours hitting driver? I did a custom fit for irons last week, fully understand Trackman,GC2, and was aching after 2 hours. With age comes experience, knowledge and even more fun. Thank you for doing this video. The best golf content on KZbin. By a thousand miles!! 🙏🙏🙏👌👌

Most spot on comment I have ever heard and something so True: Finding that little secret and riding it until it wears out... Thats why I think that its so hard to get more one than one or two parts of your game strong at the same time, you focus so hard on those secretes and maintaining them when we find them that we don't focus on unveiling new ones... And when we do, the cycle repeats itself, beaty of this game😊

I recently just cut it down to two thoughts starting my swing with my lower body and core. Then keeping my arms and body moving together. If I’m working on something technical that involves the arms I rush my arms if I’m working on some lower body thought I rush my hips. My angle of attack has always been good but my face would be open or hooking it left. Trying to feel my arms and body working together has really helped. It almost feels stupid to say that but it is the simple things that get lost sometimes.

Can easily notice the difference with Coach's driving watching the vlogs. I was one of those players that kept struggling, but I'm now moving forward with the idea of getting lessons every couple of months just to keep my game up to scratch. When I'm happy with how things are looking, I'm going to treat myself to a new set, as my current one ranges between 10-13 years old. Great video bruh!

Mark, I don't know if you recall, but I got a lesson from you about 3 years ago on driving the ball in Las Vegas as part of a thing with Game Golf. It remains the last lesson I've gotten not because it was perfect, but because it taught me a ton about the golf swing. One thing I never figured out was the Lockey Flick(tm). Recently I had a great round driving the ball and really came back to the principles we talked about, swinging to the right so I can feel like I can release the club really aggressively in order to bring the ball back on line. It's awesome to hear Coach still come back to some of those principles of adjusting his grip to where he feels like he can "flick" at the ball to get the club square without a hook, because that's exactly where I'm at these days. This is a great video to remind me that sometimes it comes back to understanding the mechanics rather than just shooting in the dark, but also that there's a bit of convincing yourself you can swing the way you want to to get the result you want.

It's funny how I've always thought coaches issues have been similar to mine. Low and behold, a couple of months ago I started working on the 'feeling' of pushing the club away and releasing earlier, as he has discussed on his Facebook and now this video. I could always relate to how coach felt as if I was having an off day with the driver, I was much the same as him. And I actually played in much the same way. My wedges are my strength and if I can keep it in play from the tee I would play well. My driving was my weakness and I've been turning it into one of my weapons, and I've been doing it in the same way as coach. Proud army member here, well done coach 👍👍

Swing to the Right and let the club release is amazing while it works - it is a freeing feeling it brings back the feelings of being young & not caring and just playing; and then you start one right and it starts to slice and then you freak the F out. I went through this exact thing on the range last year without a machine - I just aimed right and made it happen - it took a few days and then long bombs started and my smiles were ear to ear - 280 carry. The real challenge of golf is that this type of swing is possible and yet the low cut & give up some distance is so much easier to hit running out of the parking lot to make your tee time. I decided after much effort, that both swings are necessary to have in the bag - we can't always have that teenager swing in our mind and we need the 'easier' swing when playing golf - but making the effort to embrace that swing right and let it come back left is one of the most important aspects to playing good golf - you have to find a way to mentally 'believe' Everyone should go to the range and aim right and make the ball draw until they are able to do it - it is the most insightful and rewarding thing you can do in golf - after that, pick a swing that gives you the lowest score.

Was having a good start to the season last spring, winter golf had allowed me to iron out some small problems and just by playing got me in a decent place. Was doing most things right, fairways and greens but was having trouble converting it into scoring. Had a 9 hole playing lesson. Again 2 holes 2 fairways and 2 greens, I’m thinking there’s not much to tidy up. We then worked on proximity to the hole from the fairway to potentially improve chances of making better scores. I used to bring the club back inside the line causing it to “draw” ( hook! 😂) worked on getting it straight back and through and a lot on face to path and strike. Struggled through a few weeks while I worked it out but now much happier with a neutral ball flight and being able to ‘potentially’ hit it closer. Thanks bruh, keep grinding coach.

Thanks Mark and Coach. Great to get these insights. Returning recently to the game after 20 years, my revelation has been SL irons. Although my short game still languishes, I can honestly say after two months I am hitting my irons more consistently and sweeter than when I held an 11 handicap 20 years ago. Has helped me enormously in understanding and limiting practice variables.

I had a course of lessons that worked ok for my irons and when it came to my Driver he said just best to leave it in the bag. Didn’t want to hear that so didn’t go back. Mark, you then did my swing online and since then I’ve been playing so much better. I understood exactly what you were saying, different to what I had been told before and it just clicked and been practising what you said and I have confidence in what you told me. For me it was why bother booking more lessons when you don’t have confidence in who is teaching you. Being told just leave your driver in the bag by a pro doesn’t help anyone. You need to have absolute trust in your coach.

Excellent video Mark. SO pleased to see Lockey enjoying it again. Yes, I have / am having lessons. Worth their weight in Gold. New equipment is helpful and inspiring, but it's really all down to ME. Too many people i play with either get a new club to solve their woes, or are happy their handicap goes UP, to give them a bigger margin !? That's crazy. How about a compare your Launch monitor figures to Lockeys old figures, and now new ones ? That'd be cool.

Great to see Coach back on the vids and swinging so well and in happy mode. I find making a note of when those swing feelings work gives a great reference for the future when things then slip - like the slight grip change or increased shoulder turn that improves path and strike - but totally agree there is no one solution or magic move it constantly changes and evolves and as you've said many times Mark , golf always wins!!!

Well done lads. Very interesting how you are careful to point that your fix is not my fix. Of course Matt's ability to self diagnose is miles beyond most. I am an 8 index and my biggest issue seems to be my ability to repeat my swing when I am in a lesson. I am 66 years old, and my body often under performs without warning. I often wish I could schedule a lesson after my round as I've had the chance to repeat my swing and get into a groove, plus I am loose. Here in Boston this is tough to do unless one belongs to a high end private course...not in my $ I'm afraid.

Regarding the grip, my major fault was a pull but I could also block the ball to the right with a slice or a pull hook. So took a lesson and the pro strengthened my left hand (contrary to my expectation) but told me to take my right thumb off the shaft and lay it 90 degrees to the shaft. He moved all my right hand fingers together without any space between. Most importantly he told me to lighten the pressure as much as possible. All of that was done to basically remove the right hand from the equation. I had been forcing the club face into position with my right hand. And my dominant right hand was creating swing path issues. The result was major inconsistency. Lessening the influence of my right hand has “forced” me to use my left arm more and that “forced” me to use my body more to get the same feeling of athletic power that I felt using my stronger right arm. It was like a domino effect because those changes “forced” me into better rhythm and an easier swing while achieving more swing speed and much improved accuracy. One more key to the changed swing was keeping my right elbow tucked from the takeaway all the way through impact. That allowed this 60+ body to move fluidly and keep the swing on plane with very little effort. I apologize for being a bit wordy but sometimes the devil is in the details!

My driving is definitely better but I feel I’m now in a place where I can I go for lessons and then go and work on it more. Previously I’ve expected to have a lesson and it’s fixed easily. Love the point you make about its never perfect, that doesn’t happen. Get to place where you are confident and play. It may need changing again but that’s all part of golf!

Loved the video, made a lot of sense. I would love to know your opinion or have a chat about those swing robots that some people are using that you can program to force the club to only move one way in the golf swing. I was thinking of having a lesson to have it programmed to ingrain in me a draw swing with the driver. I would love to hear the boys discuss! Cheers!

Great vid guys. It’s amazing how you can lose a swing without regular practice , and what Matt did was the only answer practice until he grooved a set of feels that gave him the result he wanted, luckily he understands how to use and read the monitor properly to see what he needed to do 👍🏻 good stuff , great vid guys

I often leave my driver in the bag even if I think I’m hitting it well, because in the back of my mind I think here goes big high slice into the trees out of bounds etc. nice to see coach smiling🤪

I’ve tried to stand more upright and have a shorter pre-swing/standing over the ball like you and just hit it smooth and it’s now a more reliable shot but ive only tested on driving range

Mark, great video. In recent golf advertising it all seems be about SPEED. Face Speed, Shaft Speed, Club Head speed, ball speed and so it goes. As a golfer in my late 50’s, my speed has reduced significantly over the past few years and while I still make good contact and feel it when I flush it, my distance is down. I recently started using a swing resistor and focused on swinging faster, and boy oh boy it’s working. I also saw a video where a guy who had tried all sorts of mechanical things to improve , got there by swinging faster on his back swing. I am almost back to 250 yards drives up from 220. What advice do you have about swing speed and all its elements and how to improve.

Thanks Mark! It would have been great to see the numbers from Matts bomb. I’m trying to educate myself and better understand what are the components for a good shot number wise.

So I take it Matt was suffering from a pull hook. ie starting left and then drawing even further left. So now he's trying to hit it with a feeling of starting more centre right (swing path) and a straight or slight draw ball flight (right hand further on top to stop the club rotating closed to path at impact). Hopefully I've managed to understand that properly as I kind of suffer from the same issue

Awesome vlog, Coach is an amazing person! Frozen ropes all the time!! I tend to use video's to see what I'm up to in the swing. Launchmonitors are way to expensive for amateurs, there should be cheaper ones with club data as well.
