Nezarec is immortal. One of the new lore tabs in Season of the Deep describes his death by Savuthun's hands. He recalls how he has died before and this death will be the same as the others, he will eventually come back. Then he realizes Savathun is cursing his body and he gets pissed.

Something I find interesting is that the Witness did not begin its assault until Savathun died. It seems it does consider having Disciples on its side necessary to eliminate and distract potential threats such as her, us, the Veil, or the Long Boy In The Soup (we know it to be an enemy of the Witness). Nezarec was supposed to lead the assault of Earth to divert our attention, Calus was supposed to create the link via the Veil and destroy it, and Rhulk was supposed to kill Savathun if she ever turned on the Witness. All three of these guys fuckin' blew it lol especially Rhulk is a massive embarrassment because he didn't even catch Savathun murdering Nezarec during the Collapse

I think the reason why they never took his head was because of three reasons. 1. Touching the head meant you would go insane 2. You outright died because of the power Nez had 3. It couldn’t be touched at all

I think in the kiraxis’ distress (the raid grenade launcher) lore tab, no one takes the head because if someone looked at the head or more specifically the eyes they would go insane due a combination of nightmares, hallucinations, and general madness caused by nezzerac

The coolest thing about this, is that Nezerac seemed to be immune to the effects of being revived by the light since guardians loses their memories when revived

Likely because unlike every guardian, the traveler themselves resurrected Nezerac directly. It wasn't done by a ghost. It probably chose not to take his memories so he could give us the information he did.

I think it was because his head was still kinda intact. A massively powerful being is a bit different then reviving an already long rotten human corpse who has almost no trace of consciousness left

@@RealityRogue Doubtful, we have scenarios like Shinobu who died and rezzed same day with her head intact and she still lost her memories. Crow had his head mostly intact outside perhaps a bullet and he also lost his memories Seems to dictate the outlier here is that the traveler did it themselves and purposefully let him keep the memories. Either that or the darkness crystal he was in allowed him to keep them because darkness has a memory motif.

After learning more, it’s less of the fact it was intact and more of the fact his consciousness/will was still out there even after dying, so he just came back whenever his body was restored. He’s been tormenting civilizations while dead and his corpse talks to us so I think his physical body doesn’t matter as much for his memories. The light just restored the vessel basically

Can’t forget to add. Nezarec is a chimera, he is a combination of multiple forms of sentient life across the universe. And because he’s been dead but has been revived multiple times, he can come back as different forms. So that means the cryptic like portrayals of him originally would have been somewhat cannon. This is also the reason why he has a dad bod lmao.

So, your pov is one that doesn't seem to take under consideration the lore of it all. Take Savathun for example: Why was she a light-bearer? Why didn't the traveller allow us to destroy her ghost? In my opinion, The Traveler knew we didn't stand a chance against the Witness, and so it got it's attention by doing what it did. pulling him towards it. We would've been humiliated.

I'm not sure he was regrowing his body by taking the dark and light. His body is way too similar to a tormentor and most concept images before lightfall saw him somewhat thin and not the unit that he is. I'm pretty certain the only thing that is nez is his head but his body could've been used as his temporary vessel...also didn't nez dialogue in the raid say 'Did you find the pieces?' if i remember correctly?

I have the feeling Nezarec is like a dark reflection of the guardian. Both were resurrected by the traveller and both do a lot of killing, and are some of the strongest beings, and now, both wield light and dark as weapons.
