Miraculous is one of those shows that clearly had very minimal backstory. This is pretty much a certainty. And once the show got more popular and earned more seasons. They needed some history, and so the writers cobbled together the extended lore. Of course this had the obvious effect of making a lot of plot holes and inconsistencies. I rant about those today. To be fair, Lila as a character is...problematic(?). The show is mildly realistic, but when Lila's involved, suddenly everyone has Dora The Explorer level intelligence. The only possible explanation (aside from lazy writing) for her to pull half the stunts she did and get away with it, is if she had the miraculous of Persuasion(?) or some other supernatural power all along.

He went to Tibet with Emilie and Nathalie, found both the Buterfly and Peacock Miraculous. And now Gabe can teleport to Tibet using the Horse Miraculous power.

I actually think there could be a fun idea of how to work around this. Maybe when a person revokes their miraculous, magic takes hold and erases them from depictions and memories. And only people who wield/have wielded the miraculous can see them. This way, we still have the ladyblog and all the stuff from the early seasons, and we see that its only miraculous holders that see these similarities. It would be a quick fix and have some issues but at this point it's better than "just ignore it"

There is actually more than one instance that Alya was catching on. Before she knew that Marinette was Ladybug, she was pointing out things to Marinette, and Marinette would attempt to derail Alya's train of thought; while still humouring her as to not be suspicious. Now that she knows that Marinette is Ladybug, she is using some of the information she has gathered, to follow leads in order to help Marinette learn stuff about her powers. As for the public not realizing things, I am guessing that either the average person is following the "ignorance is bliss" mentality and/or the government is not saying anything on the matter, because they don't want to look bad because they don't know anything. World organizations would try to keep things under wraps so that they don't look stupid too. I would also like to point out that maybe the public also think that things are similar in Paris as they are in New York. That superheroes are just born with it, or maybe it's maybeline. That they are like, "Oh, that's unfair. I wasn't born with superpowers." With Joan of Arc, maybe even though she was popular, she kept her powers hidden. Similar to Sir Kitty Knight. Also, remember that true stories get muddled over time. We still don't know what humans were like throughout history because nobody is alive who has experienced it. Any written documents are usually based on one person's perspective. So maybe, over time, people just forgot that they existed, or that they were part of legend.

It could have been a way for the cops to have weapons that didn't have bullets for censorship reasons, but it's something I was thinking about.

Well here's my own thoughts and opinion🤔🤔 I'd say, Ladybug in the modern day is like an average social media celebrity, that has superpowers, and saves the day. She's known as an icon. The heroes of the past, were more of known as legends rather than heroes. They were known as regular people who simply stood up for others, and did make history. But without their miraculouses being recorded, since there was always some sort of cover up story. Example... With the Eagle miraculous, Lafayette (If I'm talking about the right person, or maybe Washington) brought freedom to the United States and Unity with Paris. This was well known... But no one would recognise it as a unique miraculouses doing since in the olden times, there were more witchcraft and magic occurences, basically obsoleting the miraculous, allowing it to be a secret... Or at least an ignored artifact. I mean example, think of the Prodigious. There could be other artifacts even more powerful than the miraculous... And as we know, not all artifacts are in a museum... But some kept among the rich and exclusive, passed on like a hierloom.

EXACTLY thank you! Another thing that bothered me in the video is the assumption that things would be taught in history class just because they are true and interesting. It would be great if history was consolidated in an unbiased way but it very very much isn’t. The history we are taught is the history that rich old powerful ppl at some point in time decided it would be the most beneficial for the masses to learn. And WHY in the world would rich powerful people want everyone to know about the existence of magical jewels? I agree with most of the video but it kinda annoys me that he acts like just because some people (gabe, the nazis, aka rich/powerful people) know about the miraculous that means that everybody else should to. And also, wouldn’t people way back in Joan’s time just assume her powers were from god and not jewels? That’s probably why she didn’t hid her identity, she didn’t need to because people weren’t interested in the miraculous. Plus she was already seeing visions from god and stuff so it makes sense. Every old miraculous holder could very easily be written off as a legend and the vast majority of people aren’t doing obsessive research to figure out which legends could be connected. The way I see it with the whole backstory with the past Miraculous holders were more legends in their story, we see that with the way Joan of Arc is portrayed with historians and storys about her. Which is probably how The Order of Miraculous stayed hidden for so long but that probably didn't stop people from knowing the secret and trying to get their hands on them as we see with Nathalie's Indiana Jones back story. And with the destruction of the temple almost 200 years ago the legend died down until modern day Paris where there are heroes but more typical comic version from the way I see it. Not to mention a lot of history and records does get destroyed through time like we see now a days. But with Gabe using the butterfly miraculous to get the ladybug and cat's miraculous people are starting to wonder more about them and how deep in history they are, especially when you look at it with how glamorized being a superhero is people want to know everything and how heavily the media and Alya obsesses over the heroes of course now its no longer a secret.

Honestly It'd made a lot more sense if maybe the general public thought about the Miraculous' the same way we think about cryptids, and historians theorized that they existed, but could never confirm that because they could never actually find any of the miraculous'. As for the superpowers. While still pretty unbelievable, I don't think it would be too farfetched if people at the scenes just thought that the heroes and Hawkmoth were some improv illusionist group. I mean as far as we know, the public isn't really aware of Hawkmoth's actual goal. And I mean, if you saw some shit like that irl with Ladybug and whatnot, would you honestly think that it's real? Or would you think it's just some kind of bit? Plus if you include the historians, Ladybug and Chat Noir could always say that they were inspired by the theories about the Miraculous, hence their costumes.

You are right, i really wish the history of miraculous world was more thought through. Maybe if instead of costumes with ladybug dots and etc. their hero costumes had like a little ladybug pin that ads the magical super sthrength and protection and the rest was thypical clothes or armor for theit time ... that would make more sense that people didnt notice. I think history is physical proof of historical events and people paintings, photographs, writing etc. but don’t mean it can be fully the truth of what really went down. So yes the truth about the miraculous how doesn’t the world known about their existence with all these past heroes throughout history, I think it’s how the present people those time periods see these heroes as like for example they used heroes (as a lion miraculous holder?) and use him to depict as a demigod and added a whole backstory that makes sense for his abilities based on their gods and beliefs. I think people at the time know these people as special and powerful to aid support to a nation, also the holders beliefs. Especially mythological creatures like the dragon existed. Without technological advancement in their time they’re no photograph proof of their suits, only with statues and painting (which the paint disappeared over time) this causes future generations to forget about these heroes and their abilities and to rely on realty. Now with technology advancements now are people connecting the dots that miraculous and their heroes existed for ions, this would help future heroes with knowing the foundation of ladybug and cat noir. But honestly whoever is after the miraculous probably cover up these past heroes not trying to have more completion to gain a miraculous. (Obviously the king of England somehow gotten the miraculous of the cat for a while)

The answer to your doubts is simple, canonically it has been explained, that all the important people in human history have been owners of some miraculous, but the general public did not know that their powers come from the miraculous, as you said, atrabes throughout history, normal people saw miraculous holders as gods, spirits, etc, and it wasn't until ladybug and chat noir appeared that the rest of the world found out about the existence of miraculous. remember that when the temple of the guardians was destroyed, there was no hero in the last 200 years, so any information about the existence of the miraculous was nothing more than a simple story. In addition, when the ancient holders of Miraculous ceased to be heroes, the people of the future did not remember them, they saw them only as characters from myths or legends, such as Heracles, Joan of Arc, the Pied Piper of hamelin, etc.

I would like to point out that in the real world stories about real life events degrade over time until they become unrecognizable today via either forgotten information or lack of understanding of whats happened. Like how Hitler had a Handlebar Mustache but was advised to shave it due to his Generals advising him to do so because it wouldn't fit under a gas mask! So I think that Miraculous users of the past were forgotten about when the Temple went away along with the Miraculous that they were guarding. Then people just attributed all the amazing stories of the past to Legend and were forgotten about!

Ok, one thing I dislike ladybug for boring world building and some writing *cough* zoe *cough* characters. But if I wrote a mystical order of magical artifacts it would work like this. First would literacy rate, basically saying not everyone could write so not everyone could pass on these stories other then orally. Second information decay, this manly the idea That written and copied over centuries. I mean we have multiple plays from historic figures lost because they weren’t copied down. Third Mythical coincidence, like that the flood myth appears in five different stories from all over the world. Most would treat miraculous as myths and nothing else. About the nazi’s hunting Fu is well the nazi’s basically believed all myth was based on some kind of fact, like they believed the holy grail is real, they had an entire research staff into the occult so it makes sense the nazi’s would be after fu.

Eh you're not even considering the base logic of the world of Miraculous. Not only is Paris saccarine as hell - like for the most part people are super nice but like felonious crime doesn't exist. Quite literally the only characters that are presumed dead currently in all of Miraculous is Adrien's mom. There's no murder, actual (known) death, abuse, or otherwise. Considering how the Butterfly Miraculous work if this were our world there would be so many legitimate target. And yet somehow the worst target is somehow Audrey Bourgeois. I get it its a kids show but consider what villian powers disguised as wacky one shots do to victims what would you call that other than utter oblivion. As far as the past is concerned that's pretty easy to defend. Its called Time. Going by the weirder list a La Coccinelle maybe the last notable wielder in the span of 2 to 4 centuries. After that is La Mariquita during the early 1800s. Still basically 200 years before anyone wielded the Ladybug Miraculous ever again. Thats a long time. The worst thing you can say is that superheroes aren't rare. America has a whole MHA thing going on. If anything this marks the first time in history that Miraculouses were issued like candy or stolen in mass quantities. Or not. Who knows. I guess in the end it is easier to just call everyone stupid

I actually have two theories that might explain why the miraculous have been overlooked or forgotten throughout the history of the show’s universe. One theory is that the monks have access to a miraculous or some other supernatural magic to help them cover up the miraculous or any thing related to the miraculous. The other theory is that the monks possibly made deals with the miraculous holders to cover up or hide the evidence of the Miraculous. Since most of the Miraculous holders shown so far were high enough in either power or status at their respective time periods, they could potentially manipulate or hide the truth of the miraculous and their powers. This would make it easier to hide the miraculous and the monks from the general public as well as make it harder for the miraculous to fall into evil hands and/or be misused by someone who the monks would normally be deemed unworthy or untrustworthy of using the powers of the Miraculous.

The thing I would have actually understood more is if there was a very limited number of past users. In a more significant way it would have been something if there were only perhaps maybe one or two people who had used the miraculous before and they were never really documented other than just caricatures. Regular people, not anyone noteworthy or as common. Yes, there might be a book or two that mentions these people but the books could be either personal journals or some sort of speculative piece where most of the information is inaccurate. It naturally would have been good to know that there were other people in the past that use these powers but at the same time were still a mystery. It kind of reminds me of the different series of Power Rangers, and how their identities were handled. In that franchise your either meant to keep your identity secret or you are part of an organized protection force of some sort. Obviously the ones who have to keep their identity secret are doing so to protect loved ones, friends and also be able to go about their daily lives. While the ones who are allowed to have their identities revealed to the public on a daily basis do so as protectors with their images being used for inspiration along with comfort for the citizens they protect. What Im wondering personally is why the ladybug and cat miraculous were free right now. We see Fu running away from nazis but as far as we know, Ladybug is the first ladybug holder in a while, with joan d'arc being the second recent one? Where was ladybug during world war 2? Where was any holder during that time, both in europe and world wide. Why did Fu give Adrien and Marinette their miraclous on that day? Paris wasnt in any danger before that and hawkmoth just so happen to send one out that day.

Normally, I'm with the video maker on his opinions, but this time, I can accept the non-interference of governments as a "necessary weasel" for a lot of reasons. One thing to keep in mind is that the Temple disappeared almost two centuries ago. While that is a blip in the record of human history, it is coveniently before the rise of the necessary conditions for computing and mass real-time media. Even with writing, art, and the printing press, information and accounts could not be maintained with the near-perfect replication that later technology allows. Every account was filtered through a human lens, and as studies have shown, human memory is highly flawed. Therefore a lot of the necessary details did not get recorded. Consequently, aside from the people who witnessed the Miraculous holders in action, they were shrouded in mystique. The only people who would be able tompiece things together are crazy conspiracy theorists or people already in the know. As for why the various governments of the world didn't intervene... China might have grilled the stuffing out of the monks, but the monks have Miraculouses of their own, as well as special secret techniques. How do you know the monks didn't just use either a Miraculous or some of their training to pull a Jedi Mind Trick on the Chinese government? As far as France goes, they probably have Marinette, Adrien, and Gabriel on their radar, but given that the heroes are taking care of it...why bother? I mean, even if you put a hit out on Gabriel, what are you going to do with the Butterfly Miraculous? You can't keep it yourself because the heroes will go after you. You can't give it to Ladybug and Cat Noir because you'll lose track of it once they relinquish custody. It's better if you know where it is and let the situation play out. As long as Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Hawk Moth are fighting in Paris, it is a local problem and the few times Hawk Moth went outisde his jurisdiction, Ladybug and Cat Noir promptly dealt with him. The government might know you stole a pencil, but as long as the stolen pencil doesn't lead to irreparable harm, it isn't going to care.

I think that how you said yes people seem dumb but when you see how much holders tikki had over time people should have had a thought and that was just tikki. Also I assume there had to be a rabbit miraculous holder that went back in time or the future and messed up and people didn't notice like in time tagger she got sent to the past and the future but nope people thought it was pretty normal to see a teenager/ adult with a bunny costume going into a white portal. Also what about the miraculous boxes that came back to live or didn't disappear like the prestigious or the egal there had to be more holders and the fact the lady dragon Detranform in front of the guy and he didn't say anything I call bs

In my mind it would have been better if Ladybug and Chat Noir weren't the first superheroes of Paris as in there were previous Ladybug and Chat Noirs that defended Paris but have sadly finished there journey. As in make Marinette Mother the previous Ladybug and make someone related to Adrien Chat Noir. That would make sense as them relinquishing there title and the newer generation being Adrian and Marinette. In fact keep the memory erasure thing and make it a thing that they lose there memories to add to the mystery. So like that you have Ladybug and Chat Boir as an established superhero for paris with new generations claiming the title which would close the plot holes of them being the first heroes of Paris.
