I feel like there is always going to be a balance between iconography and having every single text printed on everything (in this case, the player mat). I can understand the designer's decision where they wanted a bit free space to showcase the art, and the amount of iconography memorization in Scythe isn't really that unreasonable. Unlike Voidfall, now that game was a nightmare in iconography quantity...

@@BoardGameHackers Not sure how much "meat" is on them, but they're games i find really interesting. -Mice and Mystic -Last Night on Earth -Mysterium -Betrayal at the house on the hill -Heroquest I imagine at least some of them would have some obvious exploits I'm unaware of :)

I got the very first wave of Scythe, still have it, and we still play it regularly. Theme is fantastic. The rulebook was adequate and only needed slight tweaks. Components were/are great. Action boards are sweet. Gameplay is still better than most games released today. There are some valid criticisms for Scythe, but boy this video ain't it.

@@BoardGameHackers Root, Dune Imperium, Nemesis, Northgard, Resurgence, Champions of Midgard... I mean I love euro games and before buying it, I was completely prepared that Scythe it's euro game with area control reskin, but it's just boring. And I even got metallic coins, realistic resources, additional factions, but it was just meh and it was sold after less than 10 plays.
