Tim Curry's singing career outside of Rocky Horror really doesn't get enough credit. Also if ever there was a missed opportunity, it was that Tim Curry never got a shot at portraying The Joker in a Batman film during his prime.

I had the pleasure of knowing Tim while he was doing the Rocky Horror show at the Roxy Theatre. I worked on the front door of the Roxy. He was a wonderful person to work with. When I left I had a Rocky Horror show poster to which everyone in the cast signed, except Meatloaf who wasn't there when I left. I saw Tim again years later in Neiman Marcus with my mother. He was is charming self. I live in England now and he is still in L.A. What a switch! God bless Tim!

Tim Curry is still my favorite Actor. I still love watching all of his movies because he's so good at what he did. But the one movie that still blows me away is him playing "Darkness" in the movie "Legend". I was just a kid then, but his acting in it and seeing him in all those heavy prosthetics was amazing because it showed his hard work, dedication, and talent. Tim wasn't just another Actor playing a part in that film...he WAS "Darkness" and he was believable. I think that is his eternal gift; making you believe that he was the people he was portraying. And that's one heck of a gift.

@TheLeslieMichelle
@TheLeslieMichelle 2 жыл бұрын
@@rosearow I really don't know. But Tim Curry really put a ton of energy into playing "Darkness". He said the prosthetics was tedious to do, his head piece which included the horns weighed a ton, and his costume made it hard to move in. And after "Legend" was finished, he said he took a very long break to just recover. But despite all of that, Tim Curry said he never regretted playing "Darkness". And he's happy that he was known for playing a different part other than the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and other parts that he had done in the past. He said it really opened him up as an actor. But the fact that the UK did not really acknowledge this film was a shock to me too. Because some of the locations were, I think, shot in London or parts of England. So for them not to acknowledge the film is just weird to me. And I do think that he should have gotten more recognition for playing the part that he played too in this bio because the stills are amazing!

I've seen Rocky Horror Picture Show at least a dozen times between 1978 and 1985 -- including one showing where I dressed as Brad (in a bathrobe). That was before theaters started to ban hot dogs as props, but we stuck with rice, squirt guns, lighters, and newspapers. During that period, I could sing every song in the movie (except Rocky's solo) from memory, as well as dancing a creditable time warp. I loved Tim as Darkness, as well, but my favorite roll for him (tragically cut short by plot) was as the political officer of the Red October. Not many people who won't be upstaged by Sean Connery, but it took "spilled tea" and a dining nook table to do it to Tim.

I think people really underestimate his role in Home Alone 2. He was a "light" villain, but he really dug into the slapstick comedy for that film. I realize it wasn't a large role, or even his most notable role, but I feel like even with that performance he was able to show just how much depth he has as an actor. He really does so well expressing himself on camera and showing what he can truly do in any role he plays. It's the subtle details in his skill that shine through that make him iconic.

Curry played Mozart in the *stage* version of Amadeus, opposite Sir Ian McKellen's Tony-winning performance as Salieri. He doesn't appear in the film. Fun fact! His former homes' gardens are legendary. Notably, Colin Farrell's former Los Feliz pad had exquisite landscaping -- all done by its previous owner, Dr. Frank N. Furter.

I had the pleasure of seeing Tim Curry live in concert in San Francisco in I guess it must have been 1980 or 81 something like that he sang the songs from his album and was absolutely delightful! It was at a venue called the old Waldorf with dinner before the concert . The song" charge it "was very popular and on the radio quite a lot at that time.

First time seeing The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I was literally shook when Frankenfurter descended in the cage elevator, high heel shoes keeping the beat of the music, turning around opening his cape, singing out of the perfectly painted mouth on that perfectly painted face topped with the perfectly tousled hair. I was shooked and hooked. Love at first sight. Over the following years I must’ve seen the movie close to 25 times and learned all the words and audience replies. Those were the days. Rest In Peace Mr. Curry❤️.

I'll always remember Tim Curry's brilliant performance in The Ploughman's Lunch (1983), particularly the scene with Jonathan Pryce (remember Brazil two years later?) after their squash match and their hilarious disregard for convention. A fantastic acting partnership when they were onscreen together in this movie.

Thank you for putting together this video. I am a huge Tim Curry fan. So much so that I can't even tell you in what I first saw him. Except it wasn't on the stage. I've never seen a play. However I have seen him in a number of different genres. I think that Clue could be my favorite. But only could as I also love Legend, Oscar, It, and of course The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Then there are so many more that keep jostling for the top position. I loved learning more about Tim and his career. Again, thank you for bringing this highly talented and very charismatic man to your videos.

That was an excellent video - I have always liked Tim Curry , being introduced to him through Rocky Horror. I worked at a movie theatre in the early 80's and we ran Midnight Movies on the weekends it was always Rocky Horror every week in one theatre and some other cult film in the other theatre usually changing. So over time I got to know the cast who would do doing the Rocky Horror show in the theatre as the movie was running. This was Very Fun. So with such a good introduction to Tim Curry I have always enjoyed his acting and the great variety of characters he can play from the deeply serious as in "Three Musketeers" to the comedic as in "Clue". Thank You so much for the overview and insight into his career --- Cheers

In the mid eighties in Los Angeles my friends took me to see the movie not warning me of what would be happening. As the movie started, people where walking on the stage and enacting the actors, songs and dances. At first I was upset asking my friends what are these people doing & they finally told me it's The Rocky Picture Show! And for many, many years every Fridays at midnight that old theater on Santa Monica Blvd played it! It may still be playing now! I totally so loved it and still do!

One small correction (and sorry if someone has already pointed it out) Tim Curry wasn't in the film of Amadeus. He played Mozart in the original Broadways production opposite Ian McKellen as Salieri (who beat him to the Best Actor Tony in 1981) and Jane Seymour.

Thanks for the informative article about Tim Curry. I found it informative because I learned lots of new information about this great character actor. I’m curious to know how he was chosen to play Pennywise the Dancing Clown from the television movie IT. Tim Curry played the role to perfection. Tell Mr. Curry that my family forgives him for the nightmare he gave my son, lol.
