The best Little Women EVER!! The casting of all parts was perfect and Sarandon’s warmth and maternal love infused the whole story, even when she wasn’t in the scene. I don’t understand why they’re still remaking it when this one exists.
@TheAmarok87
@TheAmarok87 2 жыл бұрын
Well, the 1994 "Little Women" wasn't the first "Little Women" movie, either. There already had been movies in 1933 and 1949, two British silent movies in 1918 and 1919, a tv special in 1978 and even a Japanese anime series in 1987.

I really liked the most recent version, although the 90s one was the one I grew up with. I think they both have their strengths and there's room for all the adaptations, because they show us something about themselves and the world/time they were made in, even if they don't do anything especially different with the material.

@@TheAmarok87 I know. I’ve been a movie buff since the 1970s, and I worked in a video store in the 1990s where I had a coterie of customers who would watch everything I put on my recommendation shelf-even if they didn’t always like my choices; and I’ve seen all the others. This wasn’t an uninformed post, it’s my honest assessment of the casting, directing, performances, and chemistry, based on my love for the story, which I read so many times as a little girl. I like that she is honest about the industry. Most actors get in because of their connections, other talented people don't stand a chance, others get there sort of accidentally and others will never have the money to develop the skills required (dancing, singing, acting lessons, socializing with the right people), the way contracts can be used to pin people to the job.

I was moved to tears when she explained her process for StepMom, as she welled up with tears. This movie resonated with me, not because me or my Stepdaughter's Mom were terminally ill, but because of the early struggles we went through. I met my Stepdaughter when she was 3, she is now 30 with a child of her own. Her Mom and I get along so well now, we compliment each other (she is my Daughter's StepMom, as when my marriage dissolved. They got back together). It took years, lots of upside and downs & disconnects. But we are a true family, she is a surrogate StepMom to my Son (different Dad), and I consider her other children as my Step children. As we say our Family is "7 kids, 4 Dad's & 3 Mom's" it blows some people's minds. But this movie when I first saw it taught me so very much about how to become one family, united. Thank you for that

I cried like a baby when I watched step mum as a kid even though I have two alive parents who are still married to this day, it is such an emotional story, I think it really talks about that fear and the hardship of losing your immediate family and what happens when they are gone, it is a very universal theme that we can all relate to somehow.

Stepmom has been my all time favorite movie since it came out. Susan is a legend on screen - brilliant every time ❤ “Love you, love you” is still my favorite term of affection. Because you have to mean it enough to say it twice…

Susan Sarandon is one of the greatest actors of not only this century, but the previous one as well. I grew up watching her movies and I’ve seen every one except for Joe, I love them all.

This is a break down done right. Letting a brilliant person freely share her perspectives. Nicely done, VF.
