I really appreciate this lesson and your explanation and demonstration on dynamics, Dorothea! That really seems to make the beat come alive. I am inspired to uplevel. Thank you for your channel! 🙂🙂🙂

Change title of video to "How TO play a shuffle" if you want. Not trying to be grammer police, just trying to help out. Love the video. Keep up the great job.

It wouldn’t let me fix the typo. BUT I CORRECTED IT IN A COMMENT AFTER POSTING. 😊

Perfect timing with this video, I am learning shuffles right now in my drum class. I have a question though what model of hi hat are you using it sounds beautiful.

@@jeffhulett4194 Thank you! They are Paiste 602 Modern Essentials 15” hihats. Glad you like them.

Can you please talk about how to speed these shuffles up? I can do them slowly, but somewhere around 115 BPM, my hands want to straighten out that hi hat instead of keeping it swinging. I think it's because my accents are too heavy to keep things in time, but I'm not sure if it's hand technique or what. I also have a hard time keeping the ghost notes in the right part of the groove as it speeds up. I know this is all part of the process, but I've been working on shuffles for a year and a half, and I practice them daily but I feel stuck on speeding them up and keeping them grooving. Thanks!

It may be technique as you mention. I’d have to see a video of you playing to be able to answer. I’d be glad to do a Skype or even FB camera to see what you’re doing. Let me know
