It always takes everyone some time to go from "look at all the new toys" to *really* assessing them. These guys tend to get to it a little faster than most. What I can't figure out is what they forget. Theo did a video on Greg Roman's offense. Incomplete as it was, he showed how amateurish it was, with him sending receivers to the same spot. Often before turning & looking for the ball. How they could repeat such stupid mistakes even once shows something is REALLY wrong with the play-calling. Speaking of which... In some of their comments they indicate that they see how someone's rating is affected by the schemes & plays called at their schools, so of course when this is a factor in college or the NFL & they *don't* see that, it stands out. I'm a casual fan. I don't even know what most plays are called. I have never seen a more glaring example of plays designed to ruin offenses than the Bears or Kellen Moore. & despite having no experience with offenses, Eberflus both can & did fire Getsy, so certainly could have overridden him at any time, & he said more than once to the press that yes, he indeed did limit what plays Getsy could select from. Never said why. I can't figure out how tf Eberflus has gotten such a free pass on channels like this & the press. Does anyone remember the fiasco after Mac Jones was discovered seeking help outside the Pats? Everyone expected a punishment from Bellichick more severe than what Jones got, which was nothing but verbal. Then despite this, Bill said Jones was their future despite Zappe having played _WAY_ better in '22. (It wasn't even close). So everyone accepted that. Now imagine if Bellichick had said nothing. We'd all be waiting for the axe to fall, right? Zappe being given the starting job &/or Jones getting traded. Silence would have indicated Jones was gone. We would _all_ have known this right then & there. So what does it tell us that Eberflus repeatedly said nothing about Fields, made it 100% clear that he would never deign (look it up) to speak to him directly from about week 3 *of 2022(!)* deflected reporters' questions about Fields' New Tendency to not throw to open receivers & never responded to Fields' public criticisms of his coaches. He was on the way out, no? I find it a little odd that there were about 3 dozen indications that Fields was being undermined by his own HC, some were 100% certain ones like when they made it clear that they were *calling for Fields to not pass to certain receivers on certain plays & that this **_wasn't_** actually a Fields thing.* & nothing. I think that most fans & apparently analysts too don't want to admit to themselves that a team would do this. But cripes, how many brick houses does one need to fall on them? When you watch a film about how an o-linesman is a bust, you see that linesman make contact with defenders but fail to block them, or in some cases even slow them down, right? Take _ANY_ Bears game. Watch how many times their o-line _completely ignores_ the *existence of* pass-rushers on pass plays. They play worse than every bust at the position & again, get a free pass. & yet he put up better numbers than Zach Wilson who was helped in every facet of the game by his coaches. I find it very strange that everyone either doesn't see all these obvious on-film facts or pretends not to. The Broncos, Giants & if McCarthy busts, Vikings could all be immediate contenders with Fields at QB. Unfortunately, coaches & GMs are no less prone to media judgments than fan bases. I don't know what's worse though: him being benched for Russ, or getting to start with Arthur Smith & that weak receiving corps in PIT. Smith is severely lacking as a coach in imagination & guidance. Would Fields be better at working under him than Eberflus? Certainly. Will he get the chance? Maybe.
