"Not gay enough for the heterosexual community and not straight enough for the straight community." So true. I still haven't come out to my ultra conservative family and I've been dating girls since I was 15. I just don't tell them about my girlfriends and pretend to be single and then I tell them about my boyfriends and pretend to be straight. It sucks because I'm 100% sure I lied girls more than guys but I'm worried about literally being completely shunned by my family.

"being attracted to both your gender and other genders" bisexuality is being attracted to both male and female pansexuality is being attracted to all genders when Jordyn said "both your gender and other genders" that sounds more like pansexual than bisexual in my opinion.
@elilw82588 жыл бұрын
I've written this before but I've never heard a bisexual saying that they are only attracted to women and men, and not non-binary people. I've only heard those identifying as pansexual saying that, which I think says something. If most bisexuals think this way, and "bisexual" is the more common and older term, why use another and newer word for the same thing?
@sarahadler87608 жыл бұрын
actually, bisexuality means you like two genders. that DOES NOT LIMIT IT. it does not mean "male and female" it just means two genders. also if she's comfortable with saying bisexual then let her be. it's just a label. she doesn't have to say pan if she is used to what she's called now

I love Jen, she's so funny and awesome. And this video is really great, I identify as bisexual which was difficult for me to kinda realize or, well not coming out, maybe more like convince myself to be honest. I dated a lot of guys and drowned myself emotionally so I didn't have to 'deal' with my feelings for girls as well. Which was obviously very easy for me because I liked guys as well. Recently I have overcome that in my life and after coming out I feel much more relieved. All of my friends were totally cool with it, I even gained some new friends thru the lgbt community. My dad didn't like it, he ignores that part of me and I've never brought a girl home so how I ignored that part of me for so long before he does that now. But everyone is different and I think that coming out should b something praised and maybe even later down the line it won't b something that people have to 'come out'. It'll just b a question to get to know someone like "what's ur favorite color"

One of the hardest things about being bisexual is when those in your own community, the LGBT community, doesn't take your sexuality seriously. It's even harder being a male bisexual. People are so convinced that I'm still confused. Getting that at the age of 21 is quite annoying to say the least.

@MAO130926 жыл бұрын
Im almost 27 years old. Growing up ive always felt like a lesbian. Everyone knew at school and i told my parents i thought i was too. Ive always felt different from other girls since i was 5. The best way i can explain the feeling is as if I wasnt on the same "level" as other girls. When play time came i would go play with boys, and the girls would all play with other girls. I didnt like girly things and was a total tomboy until high school. I felt a pull towards other girls since i was little but didnt know what it meant. I did not choose it, it's just a part of my being and something ive felt within myself for a long time. No child chooses to be/feel different in kindergarten. I never felt attracted to boys like other girls did growing up. So, I identify as a lesbian up until 10th grade i have my first relationship with a boy. We were friends first but i felt more than a friendship connection at the time and he did too. I thought i was in love with him, and was heartbroken when he broke up with me. So after everyone says im Bi and i deny it. 10 years go by and there have been other men i have been interested in, even though i am not attracted to men. I am capable of dating men eventhough im not attracted to them. Most lesbians will tell you there's no way they could be with a man, and have no interest in them at all. I feel as if my sexuality is on a scale. Im definitely not straight, but not quite gay either..im in between with a leaning towards women, therefore i am Bi.

i like this, but as a bi person who is technically half white and half black.... i dont exactly get to call myself a white woman ukno? i agree with the idea of this like i use the terms gay and straight like that too if im understanding what ur saying....but if i went out anywhere and called myself a white woman people would think that im out of my mind.
@inchw0rm8 жыл бұрын
+Chyna Bryan That's a good point. I guess that's kinda the way bi people tend to talk about themselves too, like how calling themselves gay isn't usually that weird, but calling themselves straight would seem wrong.
@blackk_rose_8 жыл бұрын
+Morgan Phillips That's exactly how I do it tbh. I would sometimes refer to myself or the things I do as "gay", but I'd never call myself "straight". Maybe because gay is used as an umbrella term sometimes or it's just my inner desire to be a full part of the community even though some people think I only belong there if I date a woman. I also do it because saying "I'm so gay" sounds better than "I'm so bi".

being bi isn't gay enough for the LGBT community? the lesbian gay BISEXUAL transgender community. what??
@theprocatstinator40278 жыл бұрын
go to a pride and see how (usually) white cis gay men treat bisexuals. i will never go to any sort of pride event because i'm legitimately afraid of what my own community would do to me. i know plenty of bi men and women who have been spit on, told that pride wasn't for them, and one of them almost got beat up.
@popcorn13048 жыл бұрын
Even tho we're in the acronym we often get overlooked or not taken seriously. LGBT is an umbrella term for not-straight/not-cisgender but sometimes does not focus on the B or the T as much. Like Jordan said we're seen as not gay enough or not straight enough. Also alot of lesbians or gay men come out as bisexual before fully coming out so some don't think it exists. They think you're just too scared to come out. which is not the case. Bisexuality is real and valid on its own.
@ashligeran50398 жыл бұрын

If you don't think your safe yet, don't endanger yourself by coming out. It can be a pain, but it's better for you if you're at risk. That being said, if you approach your parents sincerely, they should take it sincerely. As for your age, it doesn't really matter even if they don't believe you, because when your older you may still identify as a lesbian, and that should be more than enough proof for them, I think.

honestly you don't need to tell them if you dont want to, like, your sexuality does not define you :) like if they're asking you if a guy is hot etc, just explain that you don't really like guys etc. Young people can be very very cruel and may be shocked by your orientation but true friends won't care at all.
@swimmerzo8 жыл бұрын
honestly I'd think about it for a while. take a step back and observe your feelings. let yourself have time to think and grow. things change or they don't, but either way it's healthier to give yourself time to be certain and comfortable with yourself before you come out
@peterturkeyburger47088 жыл бұрын
well im late but if you dont want to make it a big deal you can just caually "come out" (you can think of ways) or just bring your girlfriend and be like "Hey this is my girlfriend". anyways, no one is automatically straight, you "come out" when you're ready

what are your parents opinion on the lgbtq+ community? I mean it is pride month so you can easily just slip that into a convo if you don't know what your parents think. like you could say "hey the pride parade looks so cool, what do you guys think" make sure your parents are like relaxed at the time and chilled, don't I repeat DONT approach when they are stressed/busy. if they seem supportive give it a few months and ask yourself "do I accept myself for being (in your case) bi?" ask that over and over you want to be 110% positive that you're ready. if your parents seem not supportive of the lgbtq+ community give it time. i'd say a year or two and during that time build a relationship with them, get to know them and be comfortable around them. worst case possible you'll have to wait till your in collage/uni where you're already a legal adult and have a place to stay if your parents decide to (heaven forbid) kick you out/temporarily remove you from their life. best of luck xx
