Even before i knew that i was gay, coming out scare the crap out of me. i wanted to fit in and i wanted to pretend to like girls, but i was always crushing on the other guys that i knew. I didn't really have a moment of realization like, "Oh, I'm Gay". but for me i have these moments in my life where looking back at it now, they seem like hints and my coming out later in life. it wasn't until i was a junior in high school where i started to ask myself, "Okay, who do i like" and "Who is my perfect other?". i remember, it was the monday after the homecoming dance (The first dance of the year at my high school), i walked into my band directors office, i had worked up the courage and i said "I think i'm Bisexual." and after i said those words, i burst into tears. I was relieved that i was able to get myself to start coming out and discovering myself, but i was terrified about some people might take it. after a while i started letting people know that i wasn't straight, and i remember i talked about it to my parents and they said that they accept me and love me for me and i am so grateful for it. i finally got myself to come out on Facebook and Instagram, and even b4 i did, people already knew, but even so, finally getting myself to do it was the most liberating feeling ever. i have received nothing but love from friends and family and i am so thankful for it. For those of you who are discovering yourself, or if you have not come out completely yet, just know, I love you. I accept you, you matter. you are amazing. Our college age daughter came home from school to visit us in Florida for her Dads retirement from the Navy. The day after her Dad retired we were all sitting around and she told us "I have something to tell you...I'm gay." She was in tears, petrified that we would be angry, upset, disown her...but instead shocked her by saying "That's it? We were afraid you were going to say you were pregnant or dropping out the if school." Bottom line, you LOVE you child regardless. Their sexuality is irrelevent. I was the only one in the family he told because our family is very religious, and has their beliefs about a man and a woman always have to be together. My brother feels like he is imprisoned and is scared to tell our parents. I am scared for him too. I don't think our parents would be accepting of his sexuality. Her advice for my brother is when he is 18, he should move away to another state and start over, while our parents come to terms with who he truly is. I told my sister over text on a bus to this summer program this past summer, and I almost cried on that bus because her response was so sweet and supportive. I haven't told my parents yet, my mom will either love me or hate me, and my dad will definitely not be pleased. I'm only out to three people. The worst reaction I had was my friend asking me how my struggle with my orientation was going, so I told her I am asexual and polyromantic. She went on some speech about there only being "two genders" and how "the only orientations are gay, straight, and bi", then proceeded to call my sexuality a " tumblr sexuality" and declared that I am actually a lesbian. She wouldn't listen when I told her I'd happily date a non binary person, so now I'm sort of avoiding her. *Why you gotta do dis*

I started flitting around the subject with my mom and sister and bringing up the asexual and aromantic spectrum. When I told my mom she looked incredulous and told me not to label myself, and since I mentioned I wanted an ace ring, she was like "why wave it in people's faces". My parents aren't against gays, they're totally fine and happy with me being happy. They know I'm confused about my sexuality, but I feel like I don't have to come out IF I am gay or not. I could probably show up home with a girlfriend, they'd ask who she is and I'd say: this is my girlfriend. They'd shake hands and be totally cool. This wasn't meant to be shoved in the face or shown off to the people who have homophobic parents, I'm sorry if it came out that way, you guys with homophobic families should take your time, no need to rush into anything and come out whenever you're ready. Someday, your family'll accept you for you, just hope for the best outcome. Not the best advice giver and I think I over thought that, ahhh.

If you are still in the closet (witch is totally cool come out when you know you're ready) here's my tip. If you have the kind of relationship with your mom that you can talk about your feelings then go to her and tell her that you have fallen in love. When she asks you something like "with who?" say that it is with a girl. This is how I came out to my mom as bi and it worked really well. She said "Well I'm happy that you have found someone who you care about so deeply.❤" Of course I don't know how your mom would react but most moms would be glad that their child has found love and is happy. I hope that this works out for you!💖

Just give them time and space to accept you as you always have been. It is a lot for them to take in. Never be ashamed of who you are because then you will never be happy dear. I'm Pansexual and Demigirl. Here are my plans to come out as Pan. My plan to come out to my parents is wear my rainbow cape/flag, that I got from pride the other day, outside when they get home from work one day and let them figure it out. My plan to come out to my school is wear my flag, wear a shirt that says 'mermaid for each other' and has two female mermaids on it (that I also got at pride) and walk into school on the first day holding my gf's hand. joseph furler "pansexual" is being attracted to every possible gender, "gay" is when you are attracted to the same gender as you, and "bisexual" is being attracted to both men and women

I came out gay to my friend's during school and they were cool with it then when it was homecoming two girls who sat next to me kept bothering me about some girl who liked me and then I said "I'm gay" they were surprised and didn't believe me then I told them with a "straight face" (hehe) that I'm gay then they believed me
