The worst things about coming out, or even imagining yourself being full-out gay, is that people assume things. Your interests, personality, clothes etc. You basically have to give up your desire to be seen (if that is how you are) as a feminine female or mother, you are either sexy or butch. No one believes introverted, quiet, romantic, humorous lesbians exist, we are all loud and fighting for our rights, being gay, pan, cis, trans, up, down whatever the hell is next, talking about rights, transphobic people and sexism. Having dreams of a stereotypical family and kids are outside the norm, but for some, hard to let go. People say you don't have to let go of anything, but you do, because people see you differently, thats just the reality.

Alpha Morty Every culture has masculine and feminine clothes, that's not bigoted. And then there are some cultures that do have androgynous clothing as well. Transgendered people tend to dress in gender "appropriate" clothing particular to their identity, so then people know how to address them. I hope this makes sense. 😊

gay and queer don't necessarily mean the same thing. I've always kind of defined it as "not straight"---but that doesn't mean attraction to the opposite gender is off the table. Gay just kind of ends up being an umbrella term to save from having to extensively explain your sexuality.

I am a gay woman starting secondary school (I'm like fourteen). I dress quite masculine, with the ocasional dress and tight shirt. But now I feel so uncomfortable wearing anything femme that I just don't.

That makes me sad to hear. You should be able to wear whatever you want, but I feel you. People like to put you in a box :/ I'm a cis female but I have many ways I like to express myself. +Part-Time Party Time doesn't mean that it can be applied to everyone. i'm truly glad that nothing has changed for you, keep that up! there is this little bitter thing called trend (fashion? mainstream, thats the word Iwas looking for) when people, warning, subconsciously follow them not realising they are mostly doing it because its IN now. not saying its for everyone, but many people do so without realising anything,. plus, children in the age of 14 are predominantly vulnerable, influenced by all those trend-waves

Just gotta say I LOVE these videos. I like how comfortable it is for these friends to talk about some somewhat uncomfortable topics. Of course as you become more comfortable with your sexuality you realize that your clothes aren't an exact expression of one thing, but rather an expression of who you are as a whole. I myself am bisexual, and as I was coming into my own I just felt like what I was wearing wasn't me. I was confused as to what I was dressing to show. Do I dress to show I'm bisexual? Do I dress to show I like classic rock? Do I dress to show the 90s were my favourite decade? I wasn't entirely sure. As I'm getting older and being introduced to people of a diverse background in both sexuality and ethnicity, I've noticed that things that you're born with do define you, but it's what you do with that that really counts. I don't have to be labeled as just one thing, so some days I like dressing more preppy, other days casual band tees, and other days grunge goddess lol. It's all about staying true to yourself as much as possible. Don't just wear something because someone else is wearing it.

I think it's important that little girls aren't afraid to dress masculine, but not necessarily because "dressing masculine doesn't make you gay". I dress extremely butch a lot of the time, have done for years, have had short hair since I was ten - and I'm gay, but I didn't realise until only a couple of years ago. There's this whole history to do with butchness and gayness and self expression that I guess if I'd known when I was younger, I would have realised way sooner and not had that unhappy phase of forcing myself to like men.

do they really ask about pronouns now?

Or they. People have their preferences
@gwanael348 жыл бұрын
Lily H They refers to a group of people. It's the plural form of He/She/It " *They* are waiting" "Where is the Simpson family ? *They* left earlier today"
@lilyhealy38028 жыл бұрын
gwanael34 it's also used in the singular when someone's gender is unknown. "I went to the movies with my friend." "Oh, who are they?" it's been used in the singular by Shakespeare and the Merriam Webster dictionary. Arguably it's grammatically correct to use it singularly, but of course if someone feels more comfortable being referred to by they/them pronouns their comfort should take priority over grammar.
@gwanael348 жыл бұрын
Lily H It is only used when the gender is unkown tho. He or she should be used when you know who the person is. Why would you refer to an individual that you know the gender by "they".

Sexuality does affect style but not much, but imma explain myself. I'm not trans, bi, or lesbian, (I promise that I'm not against anything) but I dress like a man... and a women at times...

nugget 123 you may be androgynous? If you feel like you identify with both genders at different times you may be gender-fluid. I suggest you look into those terms. Or not, and just keep doing you, boo 🤗😉

Wtf? I had no idea Ashly was gay!

months ago she came out as bi in 'you do you'. But how she said 'I am gay' here confuses me as well. Phrase or was bi a motive to better overcome that? In any case she loves women. xD
@otakuofmine8 жыл бұрын
Chicken Permissíon I know that and I didn't say any against it. It was about the 'I am gay' she said once. It may be as an umbrella, but maybe not in that context they are talking.

OtakuOfMe but she corrected herself with queer, which im pretty sure just means she's bi

Not necessarily, she said she identifies as queer which is more of an umbrella term for the LGBTQ+ community , so she could be pan or bi as well :)

I am an extremely masculine person; I have short hair, normally shop in the guy's section but once and I while I want to wear a skirt and maybe get my sister to do my nails or something girly like that. I remember trying to wear a dress once and everyone just told me, 'Oh wow. That doesn't suit you at all.' or 'Girly things don't look good on you.' My personal style and expression of myself fluctuates often. It's kind of disheartening that since I've become one thing, I can't change it and I have to stay that way.
