By far the best team of the decade, while being much less reliant on the system and more reliant on each player's individual flair than Pep's Barcelona. Kroos and Modric are so good that I think they have already surpassed the likes of Xavi, Pirlo and Iniesta....If they had played like Xavi and iniesta, busquets since their youth, this team would have been the best team ever

I've been a Real Madrid fan since 2006 and I just want to say Thank You Zidane! for giving us the best Madrid possibly ever and winning two CLs in a row, and quite frankly if you think about it, Zidane gave us 3 considering he was the assistant coach when they won la Decima. I'm so satisfied that I don't even need anymore trophies tbh. Like the Lakers, I remember as a kid watching them suck really bad, then after they won five championships I didn't even care to see them win anymore. I was tired of winning as they say lol.

Perfect tactical analysis ! You nailed it all. You just left behind only problem with Danlo and Bale, and main problem with them is that they are not Real Madrid level of players, if Bale was like Nejmar or Danilo was like 2-nd Carvahal ,they wouldn't be benched by Zidane. And yeah Benzema is complete striker, he can strike more, but this isn't his job since 2009.

So far, I'd analyzing weakness of all Big Six Premier League formation used last season.. I can find weakness of Conte Chelsea 3-4-3, Wenger Arsenal 3-4-2-1, Klopp 4-3-3 / 4-3-1-2, Guardiola 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 but honestly this Zidane Real Madrid formation is almost no weakness.. The weakness this video mention in the last few minutes doesn't guarantee any team on earth can defeat Zidane Madrid.. Maybe, just maybe if Barcelona keep their Messi and Neymar next season and playing with Neymar and Messi exploiting the space left by Marcelo and Carvajal, then only I can see this Madrid Zidane can be defeated..

Isco, Kovacic and Asensio are more versatile than James (who is a great AM with excellent left foot). Unfortunately for James, Zidane likes players that can do a lot of different stuff like carrying the ball through enemy lines, dribbling past multiple players, getting out of tight spaces, starting with the ball at deep positions, or with lots of pace outrunning the opponents etc. These aren't James' strong sides, so he plays less, especially because Madrid has a lot of quality attackers like Morata, Ronaldo, Asensio and Bale.

James is an amazing player, but the issue is, he is only really suitable for playing as an attacking midfielder behind strikers. Zidane plays primarily with a 4-3-3, with a midfield consisting of a defensive midfielder that intercepts and recovers balls (Casemiro), a deep lying playmaker that dictates the tempo of the team's play with a range of passing from deep (Kroos) and an advanced playmaker that drives the teams attacks with dribbles and through balls (Modric). These are all central midfield roles, and this system does not employ an attacking midfielder. Compared to Kroos, Modric, or even Isco and Kovacic, James is not as positionally disciplined enough to play in a deeper central midfield role, which involves defensive responsibilities. Some might argue that especially in the later stages of the season, Zidane has indeed employed an attacking midfielder in a 4-4-2 diamond, with Isco as a classic number 10. However, James is best used as a second striker than a classic playmaking number 10, as James' strength lies in his ability to score goals, especially acrobatic ones. While he is also a very decent chance creator, he is not on the same level of Modric or Isco in terms of his passing, ball control and dribbling. It's not that Zidane doesn't like James, I'm sure he recognizes his talents, it's just that based on all the options Zidane has at his disposal, he has decided to play formations that do not utilize a second striker, which is the role James excels at (probably one of the best second strikers in the world). Perhaps if Real Madrid played with a 4-4-1-1 with two Casemiro style defensive midfielders, James would be a great starter, but Real Madrid unfortunately has a different squad of players.

I think Real Madrid did it really well by copying the style of Barcelona from the Pep era. They promoted the coach of the second team to the first one so that he can build up the team with young players because he knows them well. They baught midfield players like Modric and Kroos who are very similar to Xavi and Iniesta, a dribbler and a someone who is a beast at passing. I am Real Madrid Fan myself so don't hate me for saying this. The good thing is that it worked. For the first time ever we won 4 titles in one season including the double of La Liga and Champions League. No other team was ever so successful in international football like Real Madrid in the past 4 years. And after all that we have still a bright future with amazing young players and a young coach who can still learn and make us even greater. #HalaMadrid

King 7 actually zidane knows the first team coz he was assistant of ancelotti. he also didn't sell anyone neither bought anyone. guardiola came to the first team and kicked out the most important players - ronaldinho, deco, zambrotta, thuram, oleguer, etoo. also the styles of play are completely different - Madrid can pay possession football, can play on counters, can play practically anything. Madrid's gameplay is much more dynamic and ZZ uses 21 players!! While Barca had one starting 11 and 2-3 subs. ZZ's Madrid is much more complete in that sense and doesn't depend exclusively on one player when things go wrong - like Messi in that FCB. Special mention to Ovrebo, Stark, de Blwekere, Frisk, Bussaca, Cakir, Aytekin, et al. Madrid is the first team in history of the Champions league to win it *without receiving even one penalty in its favour*, while being published with five penalties against it (2 of which were very harsh because they didn't exist - the 2 vs Bayern). All in all, I think your comparison is in essence very superficial and in my opinion the only thing in common is that the coaches got promoted from the B teams.

Rayhunter This Real Madrid team is so strong, not only because of the starting XI. But also because of the extreme depth in each position. Isco, Morata, Asensio, Nacho, James etc on the bench. Damn! The versatility is really overlooked as well. If you watch the complete La Undecima documentary of Real Madrid, you can see the tactics Zidane explained in the dressing room about having a high back line if Atletico start pressing from the get go. Also, the change in tactic in the 2nd part of 1st as well as the second half against Juve was what turned the tide in their favour. It's these simple but minute details that many overlook.

Kroos is more similar to Pirlo than to Xavi. The way Kroos distributes the ball with his vision and his technique really reminds me Pirlo at his prime back in Milan. Modric is more of a mixture of Xavi and Iniesta, Modric has much more pace and dribbling ability than Xavi, and at the same time can control the game better than Iniesta
