I remember in McDonalds Mexico they had a Jalapeño Station, where one could aply as many spicy chilies to the patty as one may wish. Talk about Country specialisation. It seems they´ve also done a good job in China.

No more ketchup stations in US either. Not even packets if you don't ask for them when you order and they don't ask you if you want the packets. I often forget and have to go back to counter after I get my meal.

On my first trip to China (2008), I visited a McDonald's that I remember not for the food but for the restroom. I was relieved they had an American sit-down toilet, but when I went to use it the seat was up and there were sneaker prints on the rim. I realized the woman I'd passed on the way in had used it as a step-up squat toilet. Preferable for limber her, but non-limber me was relieved to put the seat down and sit!

Haha, most people in China don't like sitting on the toilet when they go to the public toilet, because the public toilet is used by countless people, and it is easy to get infected with some unknown bacteria. But in my own home, I sit on the toilet and use it for myself. I am sure I can rest assured. Like most public toilets in China, they are basically squat toilets, and a sitting toilet is added.

Squat toilet is more natural and healthier for the users. the commode was invented by the Egyptian, they have a stolen copy at the British Loot Museum.

LOL. Because Chinese really can't stand the public sit-down toilet, because lots of people had used it. We get used to squat toilet often. Well, foot prints on the edge of toilet really made you feel bad. Please understand that situation. Maybe the MD needs to provide customers one-time toilet paper for the edge of the toilet set if possible. LOL.

@@KrisVonCN I really didn't feel bad, just enlightened. I used many squat toilets myself in my travels. Not good at it, but you do what you have to, as that lady did.

It is so true that American fast food chains are more like restaurants than a fast food chain and have so many options.

Thanks for sharing. McD's left Russia, and was replaced by Vkusna ee Tochka, and the quality of the food is now so much better! When I lived in Indonesia, it was like #1, Fried Chicken, #2 Fried Chicken with rice, #3 Spicy Fried Chicken #4 Spicy Fried Chicken and rice #5 Chicken and Noodle #6 Spicy Chicken and Noodle, and #7, bringing up the rear, was the Beef Burger.

The porridge and you tiao. If the you tiao feel oily, dip it in the porridge and eat it. Most people tear the you tiao into smaller pieces, and mixed them with porridge to eat them. Or if you drink hot coffee, you can can dip the you tiao in there. Anyway, sometime certain Chinese food, like those fried food such as peanut ball, fried shrimp with meat wrapped in tofu skin, etc, feel oily, and you have a bowl of hot porridge with you, then mix them in the porridge will make them easier to eat, since the porridge help to covered up the oilyness.

We have taro pie in Hawaii McDonalds too, but I would say ours is sweet. My favorite from China is the red bean pie from when I was a child. I’m not a sweet red bean fan, but that pie was EVERYTHING! When I was in China in 2019, I noticed that the beef patty and McFlurry tastes different. I ordered on the screen in a mall. After I sat down, the server came over with my family’s food in 3 minutes and I was like “What in the Chinese efficiency is this?!” One day I hope they serve jianbing guozi instead of wraps.
