Somehow this video passed me by but seeing as I was once in the same position (kind of.) I thought it might be helpful to weigh in. I'm actually on my third year in Canada now and despite having got PR. (Which, by the way. If you ARE interested in permanent residency at all, it might be worth looking at potential options for staying while you have a lot of time left. I know a lot of people who end up really liking Canada for the two years they get to stay under IEC but then when that clock finally runs down aren't left with many options to stay long term.) Anyway, despite having PR. I'm actually heading back to England in about two weeks. My experience of Canada overall has been a positive one and I'm definitely glad that I took the leap to begin with in coming over. I'm actually in Calgary, so far away and in a different situation. But as you touched upon in your video, sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle to find work and I hope this doesn't happen for you. But at the times where work does slow down it definitely feels like life stops. It will be interesting how you find Canada after a couple of years, though I'm sure you'll have a good time living in Vancouver (I highly recommend Breka Bakery by the way. Go there at least once. I know the queue will look like a ball-ache but it's definitely worth it.) Unfortunately, the cost of living having risen here in the past few years has kind of left me at a point where having looked at everything financially I would now be better off ultimately back home in England. This isn't to say that I haven't enjoyed my time in Canada either. It's a great country, but as you said there's a heck of a lot of ups and downs. And sometimes time can catch up with you (Just a pinch older than you by about ten years so I'm probably thinking about old age a lot more than you.) I guess my advice would be to just enjoy the time that you have there, but also remember that if you do end up having to go back to England it really isn't the end of the world. OH, and one more piece of advice. Wealthsimple will be your friend come tax season if you want an easy life (I swear this isn't some weird cross promotion thing. It just really helped me out as a service.) Sorry for going on a bit. I remember seeing in previous videos that you had gone to Canada and I was curious to see what you made of it so this video was pretty great for that. Not to mention that all of those horror movie reactions did help me out a fair bit during the times where I was missing England.

Thank you so much for your comment. I am enjoying my time here. Things have worked out a lot easier now than they were in the beginning and I'm having a great time. Appreciate the kind words and I am glad to hear you also had a positive time. I understand how you feel about the cost of living so I really am enjoying it one day at a time. P.S Breka is great btw

@@_willandjack Well worth the long lines right? I'm glad you're having a great time there though. I still have a lot of fondness for Canada and still haven't ruled out going back in the future. It just reached a point where I felt like I needed a few of the home comforts of London. But definitely make the most of your time there. It's a beautiful place.

Hey moved over to my neck of the woods eh! Hope you have a good time/meet some good people, I used to roll with a bunch of "Holiday Visa" people they were great but sadly most of them have headed back home. I like seeing/hearing about people visiting it helps remind me that I should get out more and see parts of Van that I haven't been yet either. I need to be less lazy and train downtown more often. Make sure you hit up a hockey game one of these days! Not sure if you have many back home. Just eat at the costco nearby before as food is crazy inside.

Being in northern canada is rough. Mind im from here but in southern places with high population its an entire different world. Butter here might be 10$+ a brick and gas is often anywhere from $1.50-1.80/L. Rent is cheaper up here compared to insane places like the GTA or BC but you NEED a car and NEED to pay for gas and any winter damage that car will get. You needto drive here often for extensive periods. I drive over 2h for school and work every day. House hunting for rent here is insane, prices are either too high or have shit terms. Mind my current place is decent but the hunt for it sucked.

14:41 - Very true. I genuinely am not sure what is going on in Canada right now. Here in upstate NY, you can get a lb of butter for around $1.50 USD in Canada it’s about $7.50 USD that is an insane price spike just across the border. Truly makes no sense to me.
