wouldn't it have been easier to turn down a piece of square stock, thread it and machine down the end flat?

If a 3 inch rod broke? And a 2 inch rod is used to strengthen the repair, just how much stronger is the repaired part? Ok i am old i don’t understand this new math

and is not do it stronger. the biggest the alignment pin the weaker is the place in the bottom of the hole is. smaller pin more welding is better

looks ok but is much more weak than the original. you make a big hole you add a piece and weld a small line. will break in 2 days. easier and stronger to do a new piece
