Depending on how they're joined, the loving one can more or less act like a life support machine. The dead on is 100% brain dead but the living one may be able to keep having the organs work. But that may not always be the case. Sometimes if they say, have one heart and share, the one heart may only be present in the one twin and their brain may control it. If that twin dies then the heart would stop functioning. In that case, the other may die. But if they're more independent when tlaking about organs, they may be able to be separated or act as the others life support. Though I imagine they probably wouldn't live much longer. I couldn't imagine the mental toll it would take to litterally be dragging around your dead twins body 24/7. Imagine having to sleep every night knowing that your sibling is laying there next to you dead, and you can't get away. I don't think I'd be able to handle that and im sure the same may be for many others. Especially since not only twins, but conjoined twins, tend to be extremely close (and not just physically.)

Remember, sometimes these twins are joined at something like the finger; foot; or hip. Many times these conjoined twins are only conjoined by a small bit of skin or a little bit of bone. These surgeries sometimes only take from around a few minutes to a few hours and healup very fast.

My sister had monoamniotic twins (MoMo twins). It’s a rare type of twins and are always identical. The doctors told her the chance of both surviving was extremely low and the chance of one surviving was higher, but still low. They were born 3 months premature and one died the following day, the other was kept in the NICU under isolation. The surviving one is still going strong 👏🏼

I remember years ago when i was in middle school watching a story on the news about a pair of conjoined twins that shared a heart. The worst part was that neither could survive if left together and surgery could only save 1 as they only had a single heart to work with. The poor parents were stuck with the choice of which one to try and save, and which one to have the funeral for. I cant imagine their pain, the surviving baby did pull through and they were able to convert the heart to a proper one for a single person. I cant imagine how that child will have felt when she finally learned how she was born, and what happened to her sister.

Eng and Chang had a bed built for 4 though, and even though Chang was the more dominant twin, his brother Eng still had more children with the total of 21 kids coming from the twins and their wives Apparently Chang had fallen in love with a woman, and Eng decided to marry her sister, and even though they weren’t in love, they made it work. They're healthy, there were no complications or anything, but the weird thing was that there was no history of twins in my family, both mother and father were "normal", no taller than average, no overweight, none of them was over 30 and they didn't use fertility treatments. Or maybe their body has two whole spines, but nervous connections throughout the body are made that connect to both spines, allowing for both to control all of the body. abby and Britney originally were meant to be separated when they were under three years old, however as they grew it was pretty clear separation would be fatal, little fun fact they were actually born with a "third" arm, i say third in quotations because it was actually two arms fused together think of putting your hands together so the arm had no palm and was non functional so when they were a few months old it was removed

Fraternal twins can become conjoined by fusing together. It's also possible for identical twins to fully seperate and then then fuse. Many twins are joined at the heart because that's the last place skin grows on the body.
