It isn’t the size of the act, but the size of the love and faithfulness in which it is done!! 😊🙏💓 Whatever you do do all for the glory of God ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31

I think you really hit the nail on the head this time Jon. Many modern standards are just as you said, UNREALISTIC. Just be faithful with what God gave you whatever that may be!👍

The fashionable IG preachers telling us to change the world was oh so relatable. I love the balanced approach you gave to it. No need to bash it, but also helpful to be reminded that it might be a bit grandiose. Sometimes I worry that we start making an idol out of our own desire to “leave a legacy” or “change the world.” Like you said, these things aren’t bad in and of themselves, but they just might not be the right/most helpful goal.This reminded me of Eugene Peterson’s incredible book, A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, as well as the incredibly convicting quote of Count Nikolaus Von Zinzendorf the Moravian leader, “preach the Gospel, die, and be forgotten.”

I have been watching through SO many of your videos (started when I stumbled upon the tattoos one), and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why they don't have WAY more views than they do. Several thousand views per video is *not* shabby, but these videos are so well-edited, so funny, so engaging, so profound... I just am really confused over here as to why they don't have hundreds of thousands of views and likes. But you know what, you are reaching the exact number of people that God knows your message needs to reach, so I praise Him for that :) I know I'm definitely learning from them.

As a finished watching this I realized that God has used my obedience in small ways. Last year I met my friend (let’s call her Meghan) and we hit it off. We met in Tech class and we decided we would walk to our next class together. As we were walking one of us brought up this game Detroit Become Human and we both said how much we loved that game and we become really close friends. At that time last year I was trying to dive into the word. I was a lukewarm christian but I was trying to obey as much as a knew how to at the time. (which wasn’t a lot) Now this year when school was actually a thing she told me that during the time she was bulimic and that i helped her get through that time because i was her friend. I believe that God used me for my friend Meghan even though i didn’t know it and i pray that God will do the same to you

I am Gali, in the year 1980 I lost all my hopes, I became a thief and club dancer. At that time I heard about Christ, the Lord spoke with me though the Scripture. JOHN 14:6 “I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME.” I surrendered my life to Lord Jesus and confessed that He is the only Lord and died for my sins to deliver me from all my sins (Karma). When I totally surrendered my life to the Lord He has delivered me from evil spirits, which suffered me about 6 years. I became a new person in Christ. I love Bible so much and started memorizing the scriptures. By the grace of God I have memorized Five Thousand (5,000) Verses from the Holy Bible. Every week I also remember all the verses. Morning time I remember about 1500 verses for praise, worship and prayer. (Including 100 Psalms). This practice helps me to grow strong in the Lord and also to help others for the glory of the Lord. John 14:6 is my favorite verse; I preach this word to many unsaved people that they may find the peace in Jesus Christ because He is the Lord of all. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYi5mqWvjLyWnpY

Mhm. Thanks for going through this topic! Yeah, also that idea of wanting to do "big" things for God may portray what's in a person's heart. Yes, it can be a good thing but like you said, it's unrealistic as well. To add onto that, it could be pride that's in one's heart. Similarly to how people want to be famous, we want to be recognized by "our" great accomplishments to God. However, it is God that ultimately deserves all the praise and glory. It should point to God, not ourselves. (: Glad that you went through the scripture and mentioned that we should be faithful with the things that God gives us - even the little ones. Thanks the reminder! :D

Yes. I think that temptation is something we need to be aware of. That we can very easily masquerade a desire to be famous with a "big mission from God". Not saying everyone is doing this. I'm saying I've seen this in my own journey, and it's something I try to be careful with.

What would God use my perpetual suffering for? I'm tired of being manipulated and tossed aside constantly for the gain of the church and others. I'm sick of doing my best so often, and getting coal in my stocking constantly. What is the point of obedience when all it does is get you stepped on?
@JonJorgensonVideos

I'm sorry that has been your experience. I can definitely relate in some ways. Especially in this season. It feels like a lot of what I try to be faithful with just does not return in the way I think it will. I'm wondering if you have any specific examples you might be willing to share?

@@JonJorgensonVideos I guess the best example would be my relationship with the youth organization called Pathfinders. It's similar in a lot of ways to boy scouts, but recently has taken a more militaristic approach than it's prototype. Since my church is pretty small, there wasn't many people who were available to take charge of the club. Due to that, the few people involved used every resource available to keep it afloat. One of those resources was apparently me. For years my sister and I would sit in what was a basically empty club room every Sunday since we were relatively young. Yet since it was under the pretense of God's will, at least I was ok with. Flash forward to high school and the club's leadership has changed, bringing claims that he'll revamp the club, but he only did so by using me as a proxy to do everything. He used the excuse that I had JROTC experience to force me to lead the club, while he took most of the accolades. So on top of school and family stresses, I found myself doing the work for a club as if I was in charge, while not actually being in charge. Due to this, the club shot up to meteoric success and notoritority within the local Adventist community. Figuring that I was doing the right thing, I continued to work with the club and trusting this leader despite my anger towards the situation. On top of that, my family wouldn't let me hangout with friends or participate in any other activity that wasn't church related, so I had very little options to begin with. Soon I began to confide in this leader and let him into my heart, but he used this information to drive me deeper and deeper into Pathfinders to the point where I couldn't leave. I only finally left when I had told him about how my dad physically assaulted me one time and he didn't do anything. Even though it's possible that there wasn't much that he could've done, the ordeal made me realize how little he actually cared about my opinions, ideas, and well me at all. He even at one point claimed that he understood the psychology and motivations of the members of the club to a nearly scientific degree. It became clear how much he was using me. This is probably the strongest example I have, even though there's multiple other instances in which the church has used my needs, wants, talents, and goals against me. I've tried to trust God throughout all of this, but honestly, I don't know what He wants from me anymore. I look at my life and relationships and I mostly just see ruin. Tldr: people in power used my vulnerability against me to manipulate me into sustaining their power.

@Jason Yacinthe Your question is Very interesting, truly.... what would He use it for? I know I wasn't asked but my advice is, keep praying about it, I have asked and thought very similar things about the hardships in my life.in simplistic terms, It has set my heart and mind up to receive complete transformation and healing. God knows our own personal love language, He knows how to talk with us, I take comfort in that. I'm still learning about God, Christan music used to really sound horrible to me, idont know why, but one day . It just sounded really good.it kicked off my journey to wanting to know Him. I was very tired too. Much love to you 🙏💜

Jon, I am a little concerned when you say we don’t have to worry about personal safety, or family financial security, or national power on a daily basis. Maybe as Christians we don’t because God is protector, provider and our powerful sovereign Lord, but anyone else maybe watching this video might wonder what planet you are on.
@JonJorgensonVideos
@JonJorgensonVideos 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. This is definitely a general statement that does not apply to everyone. Obviously there are folks, even in the US who have to worry about things like food and financial security. This is not to deny that. In the context of this teaching, I am hoping to paint a picture of where we as a human race have developed to in terms of our general life security, and what that has given rise to in our ambitions. I hope that comes through.
