Thank you so much. This 6 year old video is the only one i could find that actually talks about my current situation (minor injury 5 weeks out from my marathon.) Just ran my first test run today, I feel fine, and will follow this going forward and then taper. Thanks coach!

I have to say that your it band routine has made a difference on my running. thank you for that! having said that, I was having calf tightness on my right leg so this caused me some heel pain. I stopped for 3 days I felt good and continue. I didn't rolled it so after using a tennis ball today I could released it so the soreness went away. unfortunately my heel is in pain on the outside which I believe came from the peroneal tendon. no bruising and some pain while walking. I've been icing and I can move my ankle and toes normally. I've been running barefoot for 10 months now and I can't wear shoes anymore. my form is good already and I do strength routines almost every day, balance etc... the only times I'm not barefoot is when I run errands and I only tolerate my xero sandals. right now even socks are uncomfortable. your opinion will be fully appreciate it. thank you so much in advance.

I do have to criticize on thing that you said, in which you said the fitness of a person starts to erode fairly quickly after 10-14 days. Jack Daniels has done studies showing that there is actually not significant decreases in fitness levels over extended periods of time, let alone 10-14 days. Overall though great talk.

You talked about how to return to running after an injury, but what about exercises while taking a break from running to strengthen the injured area?

You include the rehab exercises post-injury as prehab exercises! We cover this in more detail in our prevention course here: strengthrunning.com/injury-prevention/

Looks Like I overdo returning from flu/bronchitis and I injured my Achilles 9 weeks before my race. Pretty much feeling like my marathon is over as I am listening to this video... sigh
