my floor squeeks at some spots and I only have old vinyl sheets, about to install new vinyl planks. Should I just try to put a few screws at nearest joist? How would I patch the screw hole before putting new vinyl planks afterwards?

Here's a question about these techniques, would they affect the ability to re-finish the floor in the future. I figure having a nail/screw in the wood would really mess up a floor sander. Any recommendations on how to do this in a manner that doesn't affect the ability to refinish the floors in the future?

The nail or screw is countersunk below what a sander should be removing. It wouldn’t interfere with a refinish job. Your starter row of wood floor is nailed from the top to keep it in place as you install the tongue and grove flooring.

Squeaky engineered hardwood floor butt joints on concrete slab can be solved with a VERY small amount of white grease rubbed into the joint then wipe off excess.

I was told "NEVER" to put a nail into the floor or through the carpet when you don't know where the pipes are. How do I know I won't hit one?

thats easy is there a wet wall anywhere near the floor? wet walls are walls who have any kind of water pipe. if the floor is next to the rest room its probably good idea to check.

I am SO glad I moved to a house that ONLY has a slab foundation I no longer have squeaky floors thanks to moving! None of those solutions were useful for a rental house

The floor stores installed my vinyl floors and now we are having problems with squeaking floors, I called them they don't care they got the money,never show up to help and fix the problem. Thanks a lot ,be careful when you hire those companies floor stores they bunch of things drunks
