Thank you for this and yes, I’m practicing along with you (exercises at the end). I’m just getting over a nasty cough and freaking out because I have 3 gigs in a row a week from now. Really hoping my voice is back by then! My diet is fairly clean so I’ll be going through these exercises daily! Thank you again

I wish i watched your video before it happened. I had a bad soar throat and a gig 2 weeks from that time i was sick. I sang and lost completely my voice. Its been over a month now and met with a throat specialist and told that i have nodules and swollen vocal chords.😢 gave me steroids and something to help reduce the swelling of the vocals and the acid reflux that cause the swelling. But the nodules wont go easily. I had to cancel an upcoming show. And im not happy. I will follow your advice and hope for the best. Thank you.

Six we years ago I had a four octave range. Then I got TERRIBLE bronchitis. For months when I would try to sing in made me cough. Then when that stopped it sounded like I was going through puberty. Cracking voice. You name it. I sounded like Peter Brady. It’s been five year’s later I still can sing like I could before. I’ve been to ENT to see if there was permanent damage but they told me there’s nothing wrong. How do I get my old voice back.

Hi Kenny! Sorry for the delay - I'm just catching up on comments now! I'm sorry that you've had such a struggle with your voice! Bronchitis can definitely have such an impact on the voice, but it should come back within a few months. But if the ENT is saying that there's no permanent damage, that's really great! My only recommendation would be to get on a vocal exercise plan to help re-build your voice if you still haven't gotten it back this year.

I would love to hear your thoughts or a video you've done with suggestions for adjusting your voice when you have to sing with congestion. I recently had to sing when my throat felt fine but my normal functions of pharyngeal and mix voice was totally useless! haha It was super strange and I had to make adjustments because my resonance was not what it should have normally been.
@worshipvocalist4 жыл бұрын
Hey Liz! I haven't done a video specifically about that-but I hear ya! It's definitely very different (strange yes!) to sing with congestion... and it often means utilizing more of a head mix rather than our normal, fuller-tone mix voice.

I clicked on this video because a few days ago I had a cold, and I was singing worship songs by Phil Wickham a lot, and I lost my voice. It's been gone for 2 days now and it's just now coming back but it's not fully healed! 😞

Hey Charity! The best thing you can do is rest your voice completely for a couple days (no singing and as little talking as possible!). Eat super healthy, cut out sugar especially-and it will come back!

can you do these when you still don't have voice or it's better to still rest my voice?

Much better to rest your voice!

How long would you recommend doing a vocal rest for?? I have a gig next Thursday and still don't have my voice back but I need to talk for work ahh! It's almost impossible to do even a full day of vocal rest!
@worshipvocalist2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So sorry I'm just seeing this comment now! I hear ya-it's hard to rest vocally when we have to use our voice for work, etc. Just do your best to try to rest it whenever you possibly can!

How about honey and lemon

Yes, that works well for many people. For others it tends to dry out the throat, so just listen to your body!

@@worshipvocalistabsolutely there is so much we can do to honor our God with these temporary bodies in the way of eating and taking vitamins even going out in the sunlight instead of being indoors (where possible) thank you for all your tips
