Learn the entire CST Wing Chun method Online: www.mindfulwingchun.online
In the following video, Nima addresses one of the most common questions asked by people following the Chu Shong Tin Wing Chun system. He also discusses the importance of persistence in practice and shares his own experience during the times where his motivation was down...
*A note about this channel the lineage:
Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nim King practiced under hin in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

Thank you Nima. That was excellent. Knowing what Sigung was able to do sets the bar really high. After over a year and a half practicing every day, I’m seeing results. I do have a trading partner from another lineage who is very skilled. It’s very tough to have the right mindset under pressure and constant attack but slowly there is improvement. My Sifu from my youth always said that it takes a long time to build a mountain.

Sifu King, Mindful Wing Chun practitioners or anyone else that may know anything about other wing chun styles or practitioners other than your own; I would be eternally grateful if you could give any input on other styles or practitioners mainly mine under William Cheung! Whether or not Grand Master Cheung’s practice will yield internal stated results isn’t clear, because like many other wing chun styles or practitioners it’s never even discussed besides a book I have from William Cheung! My brother is a master instructor at a school he opened with a co worker and I’ve been exposed to wing chun for over 30yrs but I’m just now deeply into “internally” labeled or emphasized styles from studying and practicing my personal favorite which is Bagua! Once I learned of Mindful Wing Chun and others who emphasized this “internal aspect, I learned that there are differences but that internal quality or state is the same or in the least is highly similar! So specifically I’d really love to finally know if William Cheung’s sil lim tau which is in uniform with chum kiu and bil jee in the opening of the stance, whereas Mindful Wing Chun and others have that toe’s facing in then out thing instead of circle stepping into the stance like bil jee! Now if for some reason the Nim Tau state can’t be achieved because of that I’d really like to know why it’s not even in bil jee! I’m also pretty sure I’m not the only one who’d like some light shed on this subject! It’s really sad how different wing chun practitioners never get together to resolve these extremely pertinent issues.🤔🤷🏻🙄/✌️🤲☝️

sigung stated that 1 in 10k ppl could do it in fight. totaly amazing stuff. great video. i think the key to it is finding the 'emptyness' in each movement, its a long road, very long indeed, but we must enjoy the journey

Well said Nima. Very inspiring video to keep me going. BTW, something that make me pondering is on the stance some people said that spine need to align with thigh in straight line. What's your advise on the stance? I feel very tired after 5 minutes.

Hi Nima. Does taigung also involve the opening of the hip? Must I press in my knees in the goat stance?

Well, it’s simple to answer this question really: “you are doing it right when the moves are slow and even.” Do not put any brute force into moves. Just move your arms “slow and even”. As long as as it’s “slow and even (speed)”, you are doing it correctly. There is nothing else to worry about. “Slow and even”. Really, there is nothing else to correctedness, no mindfulness or anything like that, nothing! Just slow and even! If you think of what you are doing, you are not doing it correctly. If you go fast in some sections and slow in some other sections, you are doing it incorrectly. If you try to use your spine, you are doing it incorrectly. If you are trying to relax, you are doing it incorrectly. Remember: slow and even!
