We can demonstrate this fact by producing huge amounts of power (effortlessly) from a short distance without winding up or using momentum or muscular alignment of the structure. Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nima King practiced under him in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

Lately I've been practicing Siu Nim Tao slowly, using the maximum relaxation I can get, and I've noticed some things that make the movements come out "more naturally" in that state, in particular when I let the spine sink while thinking (very lightly, not too much) of it stretching upwards, it becomes easier to move, or to say it correctly, the hand moves slowly when I "think" of it moving, it feels effortless and yet the movement feels "full", as opposed to when I punch with muscular strenght, in which it feels strong but "hollow". What happens is that this "power" is almost always there in the movement, while the external type of movement needs to build it up through motion. At the same time, when it connects or when some friends try to push me it becomes more difficult for them to move me. A friend of mine practices internal arts and when I "did" this it became much more difficult for him to push me, though he was going easy on me. :) I wonder if it is connected to what you explain here. I still can't do it at will, it requires certain conditions and some preparations, but in five months it has manifested and it has become easier and more natural to me. :)

That kind of kicks, you can find them in another short styles like cimande a pencak silat style, and therefore in its son serak pencak silat and grandson bukti negara pencak silat

Yeah have seen similar style in Silat. But not sure if they can also do it from short range while the leg is held up in the air? maybe they can...

Just to generalise if I may, allowing the joint to freely move is not enough to be effective, one needs to connect somehow ones mass to that movement?

Yeah man if you are getting freedom of movement in all joints (not by moving them) then it means that the joints have decompressed to a certain level meaning you'll be able to link up and put mass through them.

I been practicing Chum Kiu in slow and even pace, should I also practice the movements of the kick at speed or at a slow pace?

perhaps use the slow motion playback in youtube so its more clear. I was just connecting my mass to the knee and then softly rotating the knee joint :)
