I think one of the problems is the term "rebuke in love"... That is a broad terminology that needs closer examination. A "rebuke in love" looks, sounds, and means different things to different people. When rebuking in love, I have found that the most common expectation is that the person doing the rebuking is allowed to do so with passion and emotion; but the person receiving the rebuke should be totally submissive and disregard their own emotions. That is not a "rebuke in love". That is person who is venting their disgust and someone they have grown frustrated with. This is often how church hurt starts. Love is patient, kind, and long-suffering. Love is able to meet people where they are bring them where they need to be. We have to be cognizant of the fact that people in the church come with a myriad of life experiences. This impacts how they receive and process correction. While biblical correction is necessary for all Christians and no one can be the victim all of the time, christian leaders and mature believers in Christ, should know how to adapt their communication style in a way that does not cause further harm or injury to the person. Yes, there are some people that are just overly sensitive. But when we see an established pattern of hurt by a certain person, group or church body, it would appear that the corrector is the one who is in need of correction.

The recovery plan for the perpetrator over the victim is shocking to me! Are churches this unintentional about healing victims? Again, shocking about the way pastors' families can get treated in the event of their death. We really must learn to be more like Jesus.
