Thank you for this.❤ I often hear singers say that they want to sing in original key and they think they have to do so. But forcing the voice to a range that's not their own isn't a good idea.

Every time I had to perform in school, they'd pitch the song up because I was a girl and then I'd struggle to sing it. I have a low voice!!!!! This song for example - I would probably sing it in the original key or one half step up. But I thought I was just bad at singing because the high notes are always WAY up in my head voice.

as a male singer (tenor) i usually take a female sung song, let’s say it’s in G Major, and transpose it to whatever it’s 4th interval is (C is the fourth note on a G Major scale so C Major) it usually works. For Male to Female, I go with the 5th note. So, let’s say the male sung song is in EbMajor, I would transpose it to BbMajor for females. Usually works with what feels like what in the opposite voice.
