Growing up with Roger as an inspiration in music production. I first saw the band ( Roger Troutman & Zapp) doing covers about a year about they drop "More bounce to the ounce" . I have lived in Ohio for a bit, been at the studio(s) in Dayton Ohio, seen them countless times in concerts.....what a showman. You have the best info on the workings of the talkbox. OUTSTANDing guide dude. Will be checking out your channel. Continued success.

I boiled my tube and it got soft and was great, but when it cooled it got even harder than before. Do I need to boil it longer to get it to stay soft? Did I boil it too long? Do you just have to boil it before each use and it gets hard again after?

any line level signal that goes through a speaker can be used...drum machines, turntables even a theremin. Anything works but it helps to have a signal with a lot of harmonic content like a sawtooth waveform.

Yeah you can. When you got the sound you like, press and hold shift 8. Then turn the first knob 1 till it says off. then hit shift again. After that hit write and press any number 1-8 to store that sound.

Ok so i have a question.. When hooking up the talkbox, do you plug it in at the output part of the keyboard and into the input part of the banshee? And midi what is that?
@chubgunderson80487 жыл бұрын
Aaron Brock yes, that's the correct signal path. Output of the keyboard-input of talkbox. MIDI is basically electronic instrumentation. The sound that comes from a keyboard is MIDI.
@hangugeohaksaeng7 жыл бұрын
Midi is control information, not sound. You need a sythasiser or a digital instrument that takes that information and produce sound. Midi is composed of mainly note values and velocities, eg. "the user pressed note c3 at 105 velocity". You would expect to get sound from that information just as much as you would from a book of sheet music. You still need a singer, or a piano player for the sheet music book to "make sound".

Do you have a smaller tube attached to the end? I see a lot of talkbox users doing that, I’m guessing that also has something to do with the clarity of how it sounds.

Hey, TalkBoxerDX. I'm having some problems with the talkbox. 1. The original banshee tube is making the corner of my mouth (where upper and bottom lips meet) kinda crack and my inner lip bleed. It's pretty painful and ugly. 2. I've tried replacing the tube with one I bought at home depot ("Watts" Clear Vinyl Tubing). But it has this horrible taste of vinyl. I've tried washing it but it never lost its taste. I don't know if it would hurt my lips as well. Have you had these problems? And what do you think I can do to fix them? (I would still like to play on the banshee tubing as well as a new tubing) Thank you. :)

Ideally a synth where you can adjust "waveforms" as the best type of waveform for a talkbox is a Saw Wave. The Micro Korg (By Korg" is most common these days, but I have used all sorts from a nord rack to omnisphere with great results.

I've got a question. I noticed the sound coming out of my talkbox is louder when I have the amp connected to the HEADPHONE jack. When I switch to the MONO(L) output, The volume seems to get lower. So, question, should I keep using the HEADPHONE jack or is MONO the proper way? I have a custom EV-1823M Compression Driver, 100 watt amp, & Korg Microkorg synth
@TalkBoxerDX9 жыл бұрын
+Sal Cruz Mono is the proper way, youll just need to adjust the amp settings on your keyboard.

@MARYSSON223 жыл бұрын
10 minutes
@anewgroove14 жыл бұрын
@HotBoyRob1105 The microkorg is better then what Ross mentioned for several reasons... one of them being you its analogue and you can't go wrong with that. Secondly, you can have better control over the programming and what sound you want to create. If you wanted to, you could duplicate the sounds of a phatt minimoog synth you can't do that with a Yamaha Dx100.
@LauraDreamX11 жыл бұрын
I have a Yamaha but not DX100, will it still work with a talkbox? I think it's an older one with the same inputs as the DX100 and korg.

a talkbox wont work for pianos really as there isn't enough "buzz" or "sharpness" in the sound construction. You can use with synths (mainly saw waves) and of course, electric guitars (research peter frampron and bon jovi's living on a prayer)
