what about no shim?

Yea. Thanks for watching. I thought about that after… 🤪

Haha. Glide tick BUT you gotta move the mast about 10cm forward 😆

🤣 yeah funny experiment but seriously... half degree more or less really did not make a difference to me.

@@StandUpMagazin you really notice it improves glide when using terrible foils. Such as the MA line. ….its less noticeable with the HA and HAv2 because those foils have amazing glide built in. and yes you lose significant lift with each red shim added. easily brought back into balance by moving the mast forward 1in per 1 red shim.

@@wingfoil.lessons thanks totally agree, but then the question is... why put shims when you can move the mast.... I really think for me who is not a racer this shim thing does not matter much. I mean unless I pack 5 of them under my stabilizer 😝

@@StandUpMagazin too many shims does not work. It sinks you like a sub going” dive dive” 2 red shims is pretty amazing. It gives enormous glide improvements (so long as you counter the dive effect, by moving mast forward) You lose a little stability, but once you’ve experienced that amazing extra glide, you will never go back to stock mode

I heard Arny explain that with no shims the tail is set at +2deg so any shim you add takes away from that so by adding 4deg you went write past zero to a -2deg angle which is why it handled the way it did.

Thanks for watching. I did not think of a that. Now I know. Sure was interesting to ride with this many shims. 🤙🏽

@@StandUpMagazin Actually I think I got that the wrong way around. -2 without shim vs +2 fully shimmed. i have the onld v1 fuslage which only came with a zero deg setup so Ive been finding it quite pitchy. More negative pitch introduces lift on the front foil and which also adds stability but also adds drag. Somewhere between zero and neg 2deg is the sweet spot form most riders

@@andrewjamez no worries... I am in the sweet spot with my 0.5 degrees shim. It feels stable, fast and I have fun. I dont think I will ever change it. 🤙🏼
