I did three really important lung-related things for my disease prevention and overall wellness: - I stopped chronically breathing through my mouth...big no-no - I started using the BreatheEasy Lung Exerciser for inhalation and exhalation breathing therapy - and I sleep with a small piece of tape over my lips to keep my mouth closed during sleep...stops snoring, apnea, dry mouth and more My chronic fatigue and asthma both are gone now and my outlook on life is exceptional because I’m sleeping better and have more energy. I’m 54 and take no meds. Health is wealth!

This is a great video, and way to learn. However, when you talk about the breathing muscles, I couldn't help but notice that there wasn't anything said about the sternocleidomastoid which lifts the sternum to increase volume in the thoracic cavity. At least, that's what I learned.

@WsciekleMleko Жыл бұрын
Yup. Diffusion works by making entire system equal. It doesnt transport entire oxygen on opposite side and co on opposite side. What it does is that if you take any small volume at any side of mebrane, there has to be equal amount of o2 and co2. Then it becomes equeal. But since you used some of oxygen in metabolism, there will be lower concentration in blood than in the outside air.

There is a big mistake here, though one that a lot of people make: The act of breathing (inspiration and expiration), while generally "automatic," is NOT under any control of the autonomic nervous system!!! The muscles used to breathe (e.g., diaphragm, intercostals, sternocleiodomastoids) are all skeletal muscles. They are connected to the central nervous system by somatic motor neurons. You can voluntarily control your breathing, though most of the time you don't have to. One aspect of breathing that does involve the autonomic nervous system is the diameter of the bronchioles (sympathetic fibers dilate them; parasympathetic fibers constrict them).

How about smoking? What then happens?
@jmitterii29 жыл бұрын
In short, don't smoke. Nicotine is incredibly addictive to most people. Take it from me, smoking isn't worth the health hazard and the expense on your wallet. Keep you money and more importantly your health, don't even try smoking any tobacco. Goes for pot too, but I've never bothered to smoke pot, but been round people who have, and know some serious pot heads who have same lung problems as a smoker. Just not worth it. I was interested because cigars and pipes sounded tasty and after all they weren't cigarettes. Whoops. LOL! Yeah, just don't smoke. I've quit about 3 times already. 8 months without a nicotine was about the longest. Longest periods of not smoking were mostly successful because it was due to military service. Prior to that, I went through the patches (which are actually the best method to step yourself down I think, cold turkey like I did a few times for military training was very difficult and not long lasting after trainings are over). Patches get you ready for day to day living with no smoking. Good luck!
@dig_deep_9 жыл бұрын
jmitterii2 I agree. For those who want to try pot, I'd recommend consuming it in an edible form by cooking it into a fatty food. Better for your health and the effects last much longer.

Thank you a lot i was very confused with the process of how the lungs linked in with the circulatory system (as it replaced the waste product of co² and replaced it with o² wich then gets carried back into the harte were it helps pump it into the muscles so thay can carry out respiration) so thanks a lot i really appreciate it❤❤❤
