When I've stayed there, the planes have woken me up at 5.30am every morning and it continues right through till around 11pm I think. Even at that distance, double glazing doesn't make any difference. The angle of filming makes it look worse than it is......although you will hear the noise of them.....

Back in the 1960's I lived in Niceville, FL (near Eglin AFB, dad was in the military). The neighborhood we resided was right below where the military aircraft would come low overhead as they were making their final approach for landing. This went on literally 24/7. I didn't mind, enjoyed sitting out in the front yard to watch them fly over. Nearly all the types of aircraft the USAF were using at that time, you would see and hear them, loud and clear.

I used to live under the landing path for Toronto. In the late 1950s til around 1970, the jets were very loud and if you were in a conversation, you just got in the habit of pausing and waiting for the jet to pass. My cousin lived right by the airport where it was worse. Thankfully the airport shut down at night. The jets today are so much quieter , you hardly notice them.

How do people sleep there? Easy to answer: First, all videos of the landings have been taken during the day, while most of the people are supposed to be at their workplaces. Secondly Heathrow Airport is closed during later night. Thirdly, everyone who moved into these houses knew that there are the 2 runways of LHR behind these houses, as LHR was not built out of a surprise over night....

‘Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’ is the the busiest airport in the world. It may not quite see the kind of international traffic which London does, but for the sheer amount of passengers it handles, Atlanta has consistently held the number 1 position, year after year, as “The Busiest Airport in the World”.

I went to visit my aunt years ago - got there at night - and woke up in terror at 4am when I heard what I learned later was a train that went by her apartment. The tracks were 10 ft from her home. After a couple of days I'd sleep through the night and although I'd hear the train during the day I just got used to it.

TREVOR...I ONLY LIVE IN HYDE ON A DIRECT ROUTE TO MANCHESTER AIRPORT,AND BECAUSE OF CORONA-VIRUS, I MISS THE PLANES GOING OVER,BECAUSE TO ME IT'S QUITE A SOOTHING SOUND,ESPECIALLY IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING WHEN YOU KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE COMING HOME FROM A HOLIDAY,OR SEEING FAMILY..PLUS WHEN I'M IN THE BACK GARDEN,WHEN IT'S CLEAR I LIKE TO WAVE TO ANYONE THAT I KNOW COMING HOME ON THAT CERTAIN FLIGHT! I MISS RINGWAY TOO,WHEN YOU COULD GO UP ON THE OBSERVATION DECK WHEN I WAS A KID!!✈🛩🛫

Why would you sleep when you could enjoy watching planes in such spectacular location, I would pay anything to live in location like that. I got a villa in similar location but nowhere near the traffic, every time I hear approaching plane I run out to watch. Just love it.

WOW 😯 it almost looks like those humongous planes are trying to land right on the roof tops. I can just imagine the noise and probably the vibrations these planes ✈️ cause. As much as I love planes... I don’t think I could live in the flight path to Heathrow. Great 👍 video though! Thanks for posting.

The houses are soundproofed. Inside with doors and windows closed you can hardly hear the planes.

The prevailing wind direction at Heathrow is westerly/south-westerly, and the runways run east-west. In normal operations, take-offs and landings are from west to east. There is more housing on the western side of the airport; to the east there are mostly reservoirs and green space. This video shows a landing from the east - hence the houses. Anecdotally, and for what it's worth, much of the housing around Heathrow is occupied by airport workers. Night operations at Heathrow are strictly controlled.

Flights aren't permitted to take of or land from 12Pm to 5 am but after that a flight does either of does every 45 seconds on one runway so 8 every 3 mins

Is the apartments next the the longest runway? Bc some of these planes are huge double decker planes, scares me just watch these huge planes just above the building. We I was younger I lived in an apartment that shared a parking lit with a hospital, yes I lived steps away from the hospital. Their helicopter landed in the parking lot we shared, and when it took off or landed it would shack the apartment building. It took me like a month to get use to it. That was hard enough couldnt image having a 747 pretty much land on bottom of me while I was home.

This video is *mis*-titled. Heathrow hasn't been the world's busiest airport for over 20 years. ATLANTA is the world's busiest, and Chicago O'Hare is the 2nd busiest. Heathrow is the *3rd* busiest. You should correct this error.
