So wouldn't a concrete vibrator work better than the water? The water compacts the sand but vibration would be make it flow. Maybe a combination of water and the vibrator would work best? but if you use less water the weight of the material going into the trucks is less and you can move more for less cost. -MG

I had the exact same of idea of using a vibrating motor with a wooden faceplate and a light cushioning material to prevent damage to the metal funnel or the tool. It would also help makes things a bit safer since you wouldn't have those mini avalanches for the most part.

@@iljacole61 I think I agree with you, it's not as much about getting the sand to the belt as it is cleaning the boat each time, considering they have an endless supply of water I'm sure they aren't worried about exactly where it goes as long as the boat is clean in the end.

If you want to move sand as a slurry move all the sand as a slurry or let the board pullers reach the end and slury from back to front putting the boards back as you go.

The planks are placed at the bottom of the V shaped Hull before the boat is loaded. They keep the load weight off the belt because it wouldn't move with thousands of tons of sand on it. They are pulled out as the load reduces & re used on the next load.
