Breeding is a surprisingly complex system in the Pokemon series. But it opens the door to all sorts of opportunities in terms of competitive play, as well as shiny hunting. So today we're gonna take a look at how egg groups work in the Pokemon series. Why are Kilowattrel and Dragonite in a water egg group, even though they're not water type? What impossible move is Murkrow programmed to have access to? Did Elias blow his apartment building down? All that and more today on MEPlaysGames

Do you want genuine advice or are you just memeing? If you are serious, press the dotted line and select either (I don’t remember the exact phrases, but they’re something like this) “not interested” or “don’t recommend this channel”. Do it to enough videos and KZbin should eventually get the hint, so long as you don’t keep looking up stuff relating to Pokémon, or talk about it too frequently with your friends. KZbin is probably recommending you these Pokemon videos because either you keep talking about it out loud or googling stuff about Pokemon, and google then hands that info to KZbin’s algorithm AI. Yes, google is actually listening in on you through your device, you can turn that off in your device’s settings.

As someone who has been breeding since gen 5, I totally acknowledge how insane the egg groups are, lmao...also, fun fact! I'm preeetty sure most if not all of the starter Pokemon fall into the Field egg group in at least one of their categories!

I'm not 100% sure on what you meant, but none of the gen 1 starters are actually in the Field egg group; they're all in Monster instead. Every starter group following them has at least one line in Field, though, and all the gen 5 and 8 starters are in that group.

Is "EGGlias" officially a thing now? LOOOOOOL Also, at 15:21, isn't that the same reason why the Anorith line can't get both Knock Off and Rapid Spin at the same time in Gen 3? P.S.: That's honestly such a shame, since both moves are extremely valuable in competitive play. Getting rid of held items + removing hazards is always nice, plus Armaldo is actually decently strong, so switching in to its attacks can be tricky if you don't have a good physical tank on your team.

Yep that’s right, you can only get Knock Off from Corphish/Crawdaunt, and you can only get Rapid Spin via chain breeding from Kabuto/Kabutops

Little note about the mirror herb is that the Pokemon don’t keep the egg moves if you choose another move over the egg move you can just relearn it unless you bred for that specific move

what ive never understood is why inkay and malamar are in the water 2 group despite being underwater invertebrates. and why is archeops, the terrestrial vertebrate, in water 3?? i know its a fossil pokemon n all but the majority of the other rock fossils are invertebrates, which is why theyre all there. just put it in the dragon egg group or something, a good chunk of the dino pokemon are dragon type so it would make sense. also put carracosta in water 2 instead of water 3. turtles are vertebrates, their shells are literally their spines.

I find it odd that Azurmarill, Crobat, and Noivern, which are based on land mammals aren't in the Field Egg group. Same with the crocodile and tortoise Pokemon like Krookodile, Fuecoco, Torkoal, etc. not being in the Monster egg group and other reptilian Pokemon like Serperior, Kecleon, and especially Cyclizar not being in the Dragon egg group.
