QB pointing, changing play and shifting to shotgun always looks so cool and badass for some reason

7:12 … I laughed way too hard. As a former QB I know exactly what you mean by how shooting a gun or sawing your arm off is definitely some kind of blitz. Love the channel JT!!

I was able to let my 8th grade team QB check 2 calls Power if the box was light and Halfback Bubble if they seen a blitz coming. With nobody in the booth some things get missed from the sideline.

With what you’ve said in mind, have you ever experienced an instance where a QB just basically defies what the coach is trying to do? An example I could think of where this could’ve come in handy is SB 49

Never

Bernie Kosar did it while playing for the original Browns in the 90s. He'd been butting heads with the new head coach and one game they were losing, he ignored the call and drew up a play in the huddle that went for a TD. That was the last straw and the HC had him traded. Oh and the name of his coach? Bill Belichick

Can you do a video on some of your favourite cover 3 beaters? If the corners bail deep I’m a big fan of throwing 10 yard outs to the wideouts. If you have a QB with a big arm and good timing it’s like taking candy from a baby

Love the insight J. T. I appreciate you going through the process of how systems bake in those check calls. Probably not worthy of a video question, but a general one: how does a coach at a lower level of competition manage the balance between coaching the players for lessons to prepare them for higher levels of play (such as playcalling more in line with what will be seen at higher levels and allowing them to make audibles and switch to checks), versus being a bit more controlled and heavy handed with a playbook that can exploit lower level athletes, and less quarterback audibles?

Tough balance. No easy answer. Prob an every week tension.

Hey have you or can you break down the center role in offense and his relationship with QB??

Thanks for discussing, JT. Question: Is it common or uncommon at the college or pro levels for a coordinator to, say, send two plays into the huddle and then the quarterback picks which one to run, based on what he sees at the line of scrimmage? If not, why not? Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music (and longtime football fan)

More common in NFL to have a two play system. CFB is more on the signals from sideline changing it.

Hey JT, what are the top 3-5 routes that a RB should know/practice?
@duncanmartin26262 жыл бұрын
There have to be times where you look at a call and you know it's going to fail (like they are showing blitz through the gap you are trying to run through). If you aren't allowed to audible, do you just hand it to the back and apologise? More seriously, with the proliferation of RPO plays in the league now, does that reduce the need for audibles?
@sabishiihito2 жыл бұрын
I'd think you'd best call a time out in that situation. Elway was in that scenario in the Super Bowl versus the Packers and he just had to ad lib after the snap, which resulted in his famous Helicopter Spin run.

Obviously winging it and often not very clear. Interesting, but more planning would help.

3:19 please repeat that for the idiot Falcons "Fans" (really Vick Stans/Ryan haters) that refuse to accept that Shanahan's offense didn't allow that freedom to change plays at the line due to the very thing you mentioned about it being very shift/motion heavy (along with his seeming need to micromanage his offenses).
