I am a civil engineer and I can say whatever this person is saying is correct. What commonly said "impurity" is minerals in water and these can be good or bad both. Minerals mainly depends on the source of water i.e. Ground water (wells) or Surface water (river, ponds). Technically you need to know which type of minerals are in your water supply not TDS. TDS(Total Dissolved Solids) are just dissolved minerals and they can be very essential for your health then harmful. RO just filter the minerals it doesn't matter whether a mineral is good or bad.

Your water could also have heavy metals like lead, fluoride or other contaminants like pesticides, pharmaceuticals, or hexavalent chromium, TDS meter will not pick these contaminants up. However, it will not tell you that water is healthy or not. Because some healthy minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium can actually cause your TDS meter to spike. So, any water filter with a remineralizer (mineral cartilage alkalizer) will cause the opposite effect on a TDS meter than you expect

@Ganga Din I think you're under the misconception that a high TDS concentration is always a health hazard. I will explain it to you as best I understand as I have to write too much. When we talked about TDS, we include both wanted and unwanted minerals, which should be below 500mg/. This 500mg/l limit is not set for drinking use but for other use such as washing clothes, boiling water, etc, it is known as Secondary Drinking Water Standards and 350mg/l for Primary Drinking Water Standards is actually set for drinking water. In our nation India we have to see from where the water is coming, If high TDS is there in water (Surface water) is because of sodium, chloride, or potassium then we need RO system or distillation unit to make it under Primary Drinking Water Standards (under 350mg/l), which I mentioned in my original comment. If high TDS is there in water (Groundwater/ boring) because of calcium, magnesium, and iron, then we can remove these ions using a water softener to make it under Secondary Drinking Water Standards (500mg/l) for ease of use in cloth washing., etc If high TDS is there in water (water from the highly contaminated area due to any reason) is due to manganese, arsenic then we need to think about other systems which we do not need as in India water quality is not that much degraded. So, the point is that high TDS concentration like 250mg/l does not mean that the water is a health hazard, You mentioned iron and lead, with respect to these trace metals, a high TDS tells us that these toxic metals may be also present at a high level. But beware water with a very lower TDS concentration may be corrosive and corrosive waters may leak toxic metals such as copper and lead from the household plumbing. Only if that trace metal is present at high levels then it may pose a health risk. So, below 350mg/l TDS water is not a health hazard And don't forget that even the untouched glacier water and mountain water also contain lead and other heavy toxic metals/ions like nitrate, arsenic, aluminum, copper in it but below the Primary or Secondary Drinking Water Standards So, if you are getting surface water pureit like water filters are enough to remove contaminants and if you are getting groundwater then RO with alkalizer (UV and uf is optional)

My home TDS is 370 to 410, I planned for UV+UF ,, but most of the friends suggested RO system,, if I install RO then TDS goes beyond 13(as my neighbour use same water source + RO). NF is Very costly and membrane is not available locally ! Should I attach Alkaline cartage OR Mineral Cartage with RO system ? In RO system, TDS controller switch increase TDS, but mix partially unfiltered water ! My Mother is KIDNEY PATIENT, please suggest what would be best for my family ! 🙏 Thanks in advance 🙏

TDS (Total dissolved solvents) is the measure of total dissolved inorganic and organic particles in the water. Ab jis TDS range ki baat aap kr rhe hai k 400-500 tk ki safe hoti hai, vo is baat pr depend krta hai k paani hai kaha ka. Ek gnde naale ka paani bhi ho skta hai 500 tk ka TDS dikhaye, or Himalayan stream ka bhi 500 hi dikhaye. But phle vale ka paani toxic hoga..or dusre vale me minerals honge.. Ekdam sahi kaha bhai. Tds acha bhi ho sakta hai aur bura bhi ..but generally 300 ke upar wale tds ka pani acha nahi hota bcz itna zada minerals nahi hota humare pani me. So if tds is higher than 300, then its surely not good. 300 ke niche tds wala pani ko bhi check karke pina chahie. Maine iske website me dekha..RO based purifier dikha hi nahi mujhe...sirf Uv and uf. And in majority cases, high tds means its bad for health hence RO is required in high tds. Uv should be used in anycase. Only in regions where people use water from waterfall etc ...there RO might not be required even in high tds cases but majority of India, lowering of TDS is required.

We r talking abt normal portable water (municipal or ground water) if the sewage line gets mixed with water then there will b smell in the water that we wil nt b able to drink that water only. If ur municipal or boring water has sewage contamination than we dont recommend any purifier including RO also n we will suggest u to buy water from outside for drinking because all the sewage impurities/ contaminations wil get trapped on the filters n membrane that it will even spoil that normal good quality water that u r getting from the tap. Kindly watch our all videos carefully. We are not again RO. We also sell RO. It is just about to select the suitable membrane among UF, NF, Low TDS RO & RO Membrane according to TDS & pollution level in water. We also have that much common sense that river water which is contaminated with industrial wastage & drainage line will have TDS below 250 ppm. That doesn't mean we should drink it directly. It is all about to choose right membrane to avoid TDS controller with is nothing but buy pass valve which mix some portion of impure water in to pure water or to avoid chemically processed Minerals & Alkaline Cartridges.

I agree some points here but partially. Why didn't you discussed about PH value?? As far as I know water with tds around 25 will have Ph value 7 or greater than 7. 1. With respect to mineral addition stage, we get 16 minerals frm the water bt mineral cartridge it only adds 2-3 minerals n that is also chemically processed. 2. By any alkaline chemical (like caustic soda) TDS value can be manipulated i.e it can bring down TDS to blw 25 n water can be made alkaline or neutral. 3. Only TDS or PH is not benchmark there are various other parameters also like microbiological, physical n different types of chemical contaminations like oil, greese, heavy metals, etc. 4. Common man was getting cheated by telling them wrong abt the term "TDS" that's why in this video we explained to common man frm TDS point of view.

My Water purifier manufacturer told that they source this mineral cartridge from Himalaya and use it here. He was very clear that that is not chemical based cartridge. As per your suggestion I am not going to reduce tds, as well as to reduce essential minerals from water. so preferring only UV based filter not RO+UV based. Am I right? Hi Amitji, as per my knowledge Kolkata Municipal Corporation supply you Ganga river water. Before reaching to West Bangal it is contaminated with industrial wastage. UV / UF or both together will not able to remove chemical impurities. As per me you should buy NF (30% TDS reduction) + UV system.

Not entirely correct. TDS can be good for health as well as bad. It depends what is dissolved in water. If TDS is due to healthy minerals then good, if due to bad stuff then not good. Actually water analysis should be done to find purity. TDS can be due to arsenic also. This person is not telling entire truth. He wants to sell his buffer solution or ph meter. There is no need to calibrate TDS meter after two months. Only after prolonged usage it should be calibrated, till then tds meter is already expired.

oh now I got it. Your company also selling RO. Every company says that their product is better than others. But I think best water is not of RO but it is distilled water. As per minerals water hardly contains significant amount of minerals. Most minerals our body needs is got from diet and not water. Water contains only tiny amount. If still anyone wants minerals he can add one spoon of Himalayan salt. Best form of water is distilled. Nowadays a lot of RO company’s are offering mineral enhancing chamber.

As you rightly said lot of companies offering mineral enhancing cartridge but no one use Himalayan Salt or any natural stone. They use chemically processed media. Secondly you are right that main source of getting minerals in food but water is additional source. Now a days we loss most of the mineral in food due to over cooked, over processed, over junkness, heavy usage of pesticides & chemical fertilizers. In such a situation if we will remove minerals from water than form which source our body will get minerals. After 10 years after selling RO worldwide side effects are coming on human health. I am not saying that companies use Himalayan salt. I am saying that after distilling water you can add one spoon of Himalayan salt by yourself. That’s the safest and purest form of water on earth these days and not of RO. Because plastic membranes used in RO is an additional source of water pollution due to chemicals leached from plastic used in RO chambers and membrane. Right! Thanks

Not like that. 62 ppm mean part per million that means 62 mg/liters in proportion. You check TDS in 50 ml or 500 ml TDS meter will show same reading irrespective to quantity or volume of water.

You have misinterpreted entire issue. Cause of TDS increase should be an issue. If it is natural than it's OK. But if it is a sewage or any othet industrial contamination. Then it will cause serious health related hazard. If your Municipal Corporation supplied water with 60 to 300TDS from the station. And you are recieving water with higher than that tds. Then water is contaminated with sewage and other impurities. It need to be purify with RO plus UV with mineral treatment. By the way check the rain water tds. It is under 20 ppm. most of the times And most important thing is pH of water and it should be alkaline that means pH should be higher than 7.0 . Preferably more than 8.0.

It's depends on ur source of water, first check ur water or local guid lines or by municipality standards if you take direct water from well or tube well, some times it's contains large iron contain, or heavy material ( arsenic) which is very harmful. Then decide. Generally TDS shows only total dissolve solids, does not show the percentages of mineral and which type of. For every mineral though it is necessary but have some limits. Check it and take preventive measurements. Take decision smartly. Not by some videos or marketing demos.

We also know that river water which is contaminated with industrial wastage & drainage line will have TDS below 250 ppm. That no mean we should drink it directly. It is all about to choose right membrane to avoid TDS controller with is nothing but buy pass valve which mix some portion of impure water in to pure water or to avoid chemically processed Minerals & Alkaline Cartridges. If we are not getting mineral from water then why most of the companies are giving TDS Controller & mixing raw water into RO water to increase the TDS level.

Par sir, South Western Karnataka -> Tumkur, Nelamangala, Hassan, Chikmagalur etc jagahon ke paani mein fluoride bohot hai and fluorosis is causing major health problems for people in this region. Bangalore City mein toh govt cauvery Ko process kar distribute karti hai, par rural and neighbouring districts mein jahan fluorosis ka keher hai, wahan govt be RO stalls khole hain. Where people can't afford RO machines then go to these govt stalls and buy this 20ltr RO water for 5rs. I've been using Aquaguard RO for 8yrs now. Your observation is baffling par jab RO ka filter kharab ho jata hai paani peene mein hi pata chal jaata hai. Most importantly soar throat ho jata hai imdtly. humko difference easily pata chalta hai. I don't think it's safe to drink borewell water in this region, fluoride content bohot hai yahan
