It’s crazy to think that early on in his illustrious career that Malachi Martin was quite involved in studying and deciphering the Dead Sea Scrolls. He was a brilliant linguist. (I didn’t say “Father” Malachi Martin not because he wasn’t a priest-he might’ve been a bishop actually-but only because I’m not sure he was a priest yet when working on the manuscripts. Plus a lot of the time he went by simply Malachi Martin.

The dead sea scrolls were fake ... by the usual suspects. Martin was a crypto converso.

Excellent program if most Catholics would just study and understand their faith, we wouldn’t have all these problems today but and I say, but this program puts everything in his proper perspective. I love history and I love the church fathers, and it is unfortunate that we don’t have any of the original text. Thank you very much God bless.

The copyists also counted the number of letters and the number that each letter represents for each page. If the numbers for a copied page did not add up they threw out the copy. This was a religious duty for the scribes. Thank you for this detailed discussion. The Bible is a very deep document.

So glad to see an interview without headphones on the priest

Aesthetically it does look better - but headphones help with our audio quality quite a bit, since without them, the interviewer's audio gets mixed in with Father's. :) Thanks for the feedback! -A

What are the GNOSTIC SCRIPTURES than?- Didn't they come from Dead See Scrolls as well? I started reading some of them ,and I became very confused about some of the writings. Later ,I realized maybe, it would be better if I never read them.

@@SSPX Thank You father. I'm so greatfull to SAINT PATRICK for " THE CONFESIONS" which i just discovered, written in such simple honest way that everybody can understand. It seems like stories of people, amazing conversions , struggles, redemptions , saints and God's GRACE at work repeat itself trough the history of mankind.

Pretty much everything Gnostic will leave you confused and wishing you had never encountered it in your life. Any depiction of Jesus they have is bizarre and uncomfortably uncanny.

One thing that bothers me about modern translations versus the Douay Rheims is the translation in the New Testament of "do penance" versus "repent". The former always sounds more Catholic. I know the translator for the Douay wrote a defense of "do penance" against protestant translations of the time as fitting the context more, as well as aligning with the examples of the mortification of the Saints. Its always the first thing I look for in any Bible translation (unfortunely the Knox translation seems to use "repent"). I am sure Monsignor Knox was a devout Catholic, I just don't understand why only the Douay uses the translation more closely matching the Vulgate

Father, thank you for this presentation. I read the Douay-Rheims translation. Is there any other version that you consider one should read?

Would you ever consider doing a critique on the Exodus series by Jordan Peterson? I found it very insightful and rich but felt it was missing an extra dimension, that of a traditional Catholic priest’s. I would love to see this and I would pay for it.

Wonderful lesson. Thank you Father and Andrew. A tiny silver scroll was dug up some decades ago with the Aaronic Priestly blessing inscribed on it (found in Numbers chapter 6). The scroll is dated 700 - 600 BC near the time of King David (1000 BC). The Hebrew manuscripts would have been destroyed during the Babylonian captivity (500 BC) which would be why manuscripts prior to Septuagint don't exist.

We presume validity but you should speak to the priest where you attend Mass. In addition, you should try to attend an Ignatian retreat as they are a very powerful means of sanctification and a good occasion for a general confession. -Fr Reuter

And yet the entire Old and New Testaments always refer to our Earth as flat. Inspired by God, preserved for thousands of years, and somehow most Christians think it is wrong.
