We are prepping our home of 24 years for sale. I have been doing a lot of deep cleaning, trying to hit those areas you don’t normally think about - but that stand out to a potential buyer. My family keeps telling me, “No one is going to notice that” (example: like taking down all the ceiling light fixtures for a good cleaning) - but I would notice. When we were shopping for our new house, it was odd, but the thing that stood out to me the most was dirty light switches! Your videos have been helpful and encouraging!

I notice whether the carpet has been properly vacuumed. My grandmother taught me to "Lay it" one direction then perpendicular. It looks good when it is vacuumed with the nap. But that is just me.

I've been a housekeeper for many years and am going through all your videos for tips. One thing that has happened on occasion is that someone has not been able to clean for months or years. Sometimes because of the depth of the job and my time or energy limitations, I'm not able to do it all in one shot. My little 'trick' for this is to let the customer know, and make SURE to leave all the white stuff white, glass clean and the shiny stuff shiny. Clean doors are a subtle improvement, you may not notice it, but it makes a huge impression.

I recently started cleaning homes and in the one home their back door had never been cleaned. It was white but covered in scuff marks and so dirty you wouldn't even know it. I iused my go- to spray, Dollar Tree's L.A.'s Awesome Grease cleaner and magic eraser. The door looked brand new after I finished. The Home owner couldn't believe it was the same door. It was so satisfting. I also keep a wet Magic Eraser in my basket while I'm cleaning homes to clean any dirt or grime I find. Love that thing!

Hi C, yes, a soft brush like this amzn.to/3nVptLo to brush the slats. And use the brush dry. Don't spray any chemicals on the door. This brush will also work if the doors are painted or if they are raw or unfinished wood.

Hi Angela! I would love to see a video on how to clean walls. I have used a magic eraser and it creates a shiny type texture difference on the wall when you look at it on an angle. I also used rubbing alcohol which was better and totally fine in a basement but still some texture issues when sunlight hits it.

What are your walls painted with? Is it a flat paint or a semi gloss? And are they colored or white?

How do we clean the doors of the restroom the regular doors to get in and out not shower ones when they are getting mold in them.? We have one restroom that is giving us issues and I hate seeing those nasty black marks outside of the door even while it's closed you can see it. Will bleach work or how can I take care if this?

Ideas…..I have silver metallic painted door frames. There are ingrained stains . Simply wiping with soap doesn’t help. Can’t have anything abrasive cause the paint will come off. Housekeeper used something rough to scrub and it ruined the entire paint. The alternative is to scrape it all off to original metal, but that’s huge. Any ideas

I only wish cleaning videos would show how to and what products to use for painted wood surfaces versus stained wood surfaces. I doubt I should be using a magic eraser on my stained wood. I’m finding it hard to find videos on how to clean doors and baseboards for my stained wood. 😕

Great question! Cleaning painted wood surfaces usually involves mild soap and water or a gentle all-purpose cleaner. For stained wood, it's important to use products specifically designed for wood, like a wood cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar. Avoid abrasive cleaners like magic erasers on stained wood, as they can damage the finish. I’ll consider making a video addressing these differences. Thanks for the suggestion!

I’ve noticed the magic erasers leave a mark or residue when using it, I usually wipe down the area after using it, but still😏 some walls I can see where I used it to wipe a suitcase mark off. How else do I avoid this? The walls are slightly textured so I’m guessing that may be some of it. Ive been kinda skeptical using it....

The magic eraser sponges are extremely fine, fine grit sanders pretty much and often can remove the sheen on satin, semi•gloss and sometimes gloss shine if used or used too aggressively.

I like using a gentle all purpose cleaner and for tougher spots a baking soda and water paste. I don't like the magic erasers for the very reason you mentioned, they seem to leave a mark or residue behind.

Hi. I like the methods and products explained in the video. They are effective and don't leave any sticky residue that could attract more dirt. You might be able to use the soap but be sure to rinse well to get it all off. Hope this helps! Thank you for being here. 🤗🙂

Interesting. What are your doors painted with? Most of the homes we clean (I probably should have put a disclaimer) are painted in a white semi-gloss paint that is sealed. A strong product on either end of the pH scale could mess with the paint.

Sometimes when editing a show we do speed up the cleaning just so the video doesn't turn out to be 20 minutes when it could be cut down to 8. If it is a repetitive task like vacuuming the floor or cleaning a door, you don't need to see everything in real time to understand how it is done. Time warp is a technique used to keep the flow of the show moving along.

@@timvandermey4792 I'm not an expert, but I've been shopping for something to clean my stained wood cabinets. I'm probably going to buy Murphy's Oil Soap for wood, but I was also recommended Magic Cabinet & Wood Cleaner & Polish. Either of those should work on stained (but unvarnished) wood doors.

I have flat, one paneled, stained natural wood doors (and sills, frames, trim, etc). I dust them first and then use Murphy's oil soap to clean them. I like them much better than the white because they stay "cleaner" longer, but also because they're much faster and easier to clean than the multi-paneled doors. A few of my clients have all white trim, sills, and multi-paneled doors and every scuff, fingerprint, bug poop, and mark sticks out like a sore thumb, mine hide a multitude of sins.
