My mother would have suddenly, and unexpectedly, reclined her seat, hoping that the little darling would be popped back into theirs.

In my opinion, it takes a village to raise a child. There's nothing wrong for an adult to respectfully encourage a child to do what's right

Exactly, I've been there had a word with a 6 year old kid who shoved my 2 year old down a slide nearly sent him flying, as soon as I had a word that kid took care of my boy the rest of the stay there, said sorry and was respectful and made sure his mates were careful too, the mum was still busy chatting to her mates oblivious but that's unfortunate, they need people that will do this

once my son was going down a slide while a woman's daughter was climbing up it and when I looked up she was telling him he needed to apologise and not letting him come to me I went mad she should of told her child not to go up and if there is ever a problem then you need to say we're is your mummy and come talk to the parents so they can deal with it you don't make someone else's child apologise especially when there child is wrong

@Kerry Kearns once a girl was sat on a platform drinking a can of fizzy and her parent wasn't around ( I'd guess she was about 8 years old). She tried to pour it on my 2 year old daughter's head, and I told her not to do that to anyone, never mind a child

I know kids that never act like crazy in a public space. and only by parents not a village. other parents might not know how to raise kids

I wouldn't ever say anything, I don't want to get involved or make a fuss. Plus these days you just don't know what the other persons reaction will be.

I used to travel with a coworker who would bribe any child sitting in proximity, primarily if they showed any early signs of being fussy or restless. She showed them a fiver and told them it was their's upon landing if they were well behaved throughout the flight. This actually worked pretty well. Even the parents, desperate for a smooth flight, were happy for their child to have a little extra incentive to not act up.

A neighbour near me just allows her daughter to scream. Absolutely no reason for it and just wish the parent/s would for once tell her to be quiet and stop the din.

6 hour flight, the kid behind screamed the entire way. She also kicked the back of the chair. We complained once. The kicking stopped. The screaming did not. Screamed the whole six hours. The kid was school going age. Kinda impressed her lung capacity was that great for 6 hours.

Let the cabin crew know about the child's behavior. In other public places ask if the child is ok? If said child is acting out.

I’d speak to the parent if they did nothing I’d tell the child to sit down

If you want people to consider what might be going on with your child , YOU should also be considerate of what might be going on with the people who are affected by your childs bad behaviour. If you cant control your children do not travel with them.
