Megaman Maker exists(existed?) as a fan thing and it was actually kinda cool! Cuz you could set what weapons a player starts with for your stage, and make them recharge easier so you can design a stage around a weapon.

i agree about mega man maker not being as versatile as mario maker but most of the versatility comes from the weapons, changing how the player will approach a challenge. one thing that i actually don't like about mario maker is that you can't plan challenges around power-ups unless you expect the player to never get hit even once.
