@@Y0G0FU I want to believe that, but Carl's reaction there didn't feel like the usual Carl troll reaction of genuine delight at being had. Maybe you're right and I'm just reading the situation wrong, but it doesn't feel right. Why did Carl IMMEDIATELY check for the hidden box if he didn't know about it? When I first heard the dono, it just sounded like the meme, not a prompt or invitation to actually do so. Again, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but that moment didn't feel like a genuine "Carl got trolled" moment that we're used to seeing. Although maybe it was different because it was at an AGDQ event? Idk. His reaction to some of the other trolls they got him with felt more genuine to me, but that one felt slightly off.

It suckeddddddd I could barely speak at all until 3 days before the run, I drank like 50 cups of honey lemon tea and thankfully only coughed once during the run. My body loves coughing for an entire month after being sick for some reason hffkeoqhdbfoepwnd But, it came back to life juuuust in time

I can confirm the Larl surprises are real, I was sitting in the gaming room watching them polish up the levels, practicing commentary (w/o those extra surprises). And when Carl went away, they had a different switch ready with the "real" levels.

Carl made a whole level themed around this hardlock. Then he went around to streamers playing the level and tricked them into building this title screen and hardlocking at the title screen. Fortunately the game only loads the level once for the title screen.

despite already knowing about most of these glitches from watching lots of carl, i'll never underestimate carl's ability to put on a good show, with the help of banned wagon ofc putting together a cohesive and entertaining way to show off tons of these cool and funny glitches one after another. glad i was able to catch this live, and so cool that gdq got to 1 mil during this run

The problem with glitches is that you can make a basically impossible level. But you can also do this vanilla if you really want, so there's no reason to ban them

​@@DukasFigulirasThat's a good point actually, I hadn't thought of that. You can just put a super-hidden dev path or a passcode lock to make a level virtually impossible, so glitches aren't really that different. If you put it that way, it doesn't really make sense why Nintendo removes them...

its honestly so interesting to me to see people just take apart video games and do things even the developers didn't know you could do. The broken track glitch is a great example of that, the amount of dedication it took to find every little behavior it has is just inspiring.

Loved watching this live! I absolutely love the mario maker community. I'm so glad I discovered this channel 6 years ago (and then rediscovered it again after not watching for a bit), and then from this channel I've started watching a bunch of other people including Geek, Tanuki Dan, and Defender I'm actually working on a troll level myself at the moment, and I can't tell if it's trash or not lol but it is fun. I don't know if we'll ever see a mario maker 3, but even if we don't the community will last forever. I have had so much fun watching people get bodied in the funniest ways possible in videos and live on streams, and I have many great memories related to mario maker. I definitely want to thank the troll community and particularly you carl, I love these videos for the mario (and now other games) and the science and the spaghetti and everything. I also love how accepting and cool everyone is, I'm aroace and neurodivergent (and a fellow aphantasiac, which I learned from the video where you shared about your aphantasia) and I love hearing people talk about pride and adhd and mental health stuff and all of that.
