I have Gooloo jumpers in most of my vehicles and they have been great! Never going back to jumper cables.

I have the GooLoo. I keep it in my car at -35*C. It'll show a little snow flake symbol showing that its too cold to jump, then I'll wait while it warms up the battery pack, say "ready" then I'll hit boost and it'll boost. my 3.0l V6 Escape, I Jumped it twice a day for 3 weeks 6 times a week, never charged it until it hit 50%. Absolutely fantastic.

I have two Gooloo's recommend by Project Farm. One jump started a v8 Tundra no problem. I prefer the pouch cell jump starters because of their compact size. The Gooloo even comes in a nice zipper case to keep everything tidy so you can chuck it under the seat or in the trunk.

I carry both, cables and jumpers. I have different styles of cables, as well as different styles of jumpers. Each jump is unique, so I'm prepared. Even for 120v use like your Dewalt. From a Power Wheel to a Semi, I'm ready. 👍

Thanks for the comparison and teardowns. My older styled jump pack died and I am looking at getting a replacement, but haven't decided yet on which one. I like the Ryobi one because of the battery and I already have the Ryobi air compressor so they could even share a single battery. But it is almost $200.00 and I don't normally use or need one.

They all work pretty much the same in regards to the pocket style lithium jump packs and most of the time people never charge them so when they do need them they're dead because they threw them under the seat or in the trunk of their car and forgot about them for months. There's a lot of different brands, all of them are cheap Chinese units all made the same way with ridiculous price variations. I think the one I have is a TackLife brand, works fine, it'll jump start the V10 in my pickup, doubt it would start a diesel because of the high compression of a diesel, but it works for my needs....jumper cables are great if you got another vehicle there to use, but if not jumper cables are useless. I have the Ryobi 18V Jump Pack, great idea, but once again you have to have the battery with you, otherwise its like the lithium jump packs that are lying dead in the trunk or under the seat. The downside to the lithium packs is they will randomly just die, the batteries give no warning they're just dead suddenly, and need replaced, where the other methods typically give some sort of warning, whether not maintaining a charge as long, or by the battery meter on the battery in the case of a jump pack like the Ryobi.

Least dewalt gives you that nice handle to chuck it over the hill with in 3-5 years when the sla wont hold a charge anymore. One thing the cap discharge ones have going for them is they generally still work very well when they're freezing cold. Straight lipos, not so much.
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Just replace the battery in it, all those style jump boxes have replaceable batteries...I bet if you looked around long enough online you probably could get replacement lithium battery packs for those little pocket style jumper packs. Nice thing with the Ryobi, you just put a battery in it that's fresh whenever needed, and since someone buying the Ryobi jump pack probably already has other Ryobi 18V tools, they most likely have several batteries to keep cycling through. The problem with all the jump box and jump pack systems is you throw it in your car and by the time you need it, its dead....jumper cables never need charged, but require another vehicle and the way things are in the world anymore jumper cables aren't really a preferred method to have to rely on a stranger for help. The jump pack I have you can recharge by plugging into a 12V power source in your car which can be nice...if you remember to do so before you need to use it LOL.

Can you do a jumper cable one? I carry both options in my vehicles.
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Nothing to really do a video about, they are just jumper cables....all sorts of different lengths, and cable gauges depending on what you are trying to start...and most people buy the cheapest ones they can which might be fine for that one time use on a small car, but get into HD trucks and those $10 jumper cables might just melt or catch fire because of the high amount of amps you are trying to push through them. The bigger the gauge number the smaller the cable size, and the less amperage they can handle.

Why is the black hooked up to battery terminal? Shouldn’t it be hooked to vehicle frame?
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Typically those battery cables are so short you are lucky to have enough cable to reach between the terminals of the battery...no you don't have to go to a vehicle frame to jump start a vehicle positive to positive, negative to negative on the battery works just the same...and with many vehicles good luck getting to the frame and many don't have a frame, or is so rusted you can't get a good enough connection anyhow.

As a DeWALT fanboy their jump box sure was disappointing with that lead acid battery. 😕

Yeah the SLA jump starters are all pretty much outdated. Over my 20+ years as an automotive technician I owned several SLA jump starters. Jump N Carry 770, 770R and 950 models. The 950 was a beast when it was new but after about two years it could no longer start our diesels off the vehicle’s battery was still good but severely discharged. To get those going I had to disconnect the battery, jump it, and then while it was running, reconnect the vehicle battery. Not ideal. I derived over to the NOCO GBX155 and never looked back. That thing is an absolute beast and 3 years on now it still functions flawlessly. I have two of the Gooloo 4000 models for home use and they’ve surprised me quite a bit too.

Is there any reason why we can't use an adapter to use a M18 battery with the Ryobi? I am also waiting for a solid M12 option.
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Don't see why not, if the adapter works on your other tools it'll work on the jumper pack, might just stick out the bottom of the jumper pack due to the added bulk of the adapter maybe, but if you got an adapter that's working, I bet it would work just fine in that case, as the battery isn't supplying all the power, it just charges the capacitors inside the jumper pack in the Ryobi one at least.

Does DeWALT make one that takes a tool battery?
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Yes they do, model #DXAE20VBB, uses the Dewalt 20V batteries...so you could probably put a flexvolt battery in it if you wanted to do so. I'd go with the 20V platform myself, if you got Dewalt 20V tools already, that's the way to go...skip that stupid lead acid battery version, those things never seem to last, granted you can replace the battery, but you gotta disassemble the stupid thing to do so, and looks like a ton of screws and stuff to lose in the process LOL. Not to mention a replacement battery probably would cost about the same as just buying another jump box.

We need an m12 jump pack with 2 high output 5.0 batteries
@Shorty_Lickens7 ай бұрын
Well no we dont NEED that. We just need something that works. You can buy several cable devices that attach to a single M18 battery and will jump start your car. And they only cost 30 to 40 dollars. Amazon has several of them. Also for Dewalt.
@Machineius11 ай бұрын
The Ryobi is definitely the future of the BEST jumpstart packs. I only wish Milwaukee would make one like it. I own that Dewalt, it is a piece of trash. It worked for a few times. Now, being one year old, it can barely start my lawn mower. It can not start my escalade with a battery that is only JUST too low to start the truck on it's own. The gooloo one, my son has one, does work very well. But if you use it a few times and forget to charge it? it is useless. And it does seem to lose some charge just sitting in the trunk.
@wildbill23c14 күн бұрын
Someone mentioned the battery adapters, so if they make a Milwaukee to Ryobi battery adapter that might be an option until Milwaukee wakes up and makes an M18 jumper pack LOL. Although given Milwaukees track record for prices they'd price it so high you could invest in the Ryobi brand and save money LOL. Milwaukee has some great stuff, but given the Chinese manufacturing of their stuff, there's no reason it needs to be so expensive, same goes for Dewalt. They're all way out of hand on cost to begin with...and gonna get worse with all the upcoming tariffs unfortunately.
