What a profound comment. I’m so moved. Caring for someone with dementia is incredibly challenging, and it sounds like you’re going through a very tough time. Your dedication and love are truly admirable, even when things are difficult. Remember to take care of yourself, too, and lean on support systems when you need them. You’re doing an amazing job. Sending you strength and compassion.

I happened to run into this wonderful piece of music by Michel LeGrand, about four years ago. I since have heard it sung by many artists including Frank SInatra, Barbara Streisand,, and best of all Tony Bennett. The lyrics are in my opinion the best love song ever. I am 92 years old and became a widower five years ago. how I wish I could have sung this to my dear wife whose mind became scrambled to dementia. The young lady soloist was absolutely angelic. My deepest congratulations to whoever thought out this choral presentation. It goes in my #1 favorites list. Please put it on a CD.

"I know the way I feel for you is now or never, The more I love the more that I'm afraid That in your eyes I may nor see forever, forever. If we can be the best of lovers, and be the best of friends. If we can try with every day to make it better as it grows, With any luck then I suppose- THE MUSIC NEVER ENDS." Growing up I've always been a Michel Legrand fan. This morning as I was having coffee and some toast with peanut butter, I opened my computer and saw this post by a colleague on fb, so I thought I'd give it a listen. Just as when the solo came in, I found my self unexpectedly bursting in tears. Not only the beautiful rendition touched my heart, but after not hearing this song in a long time, it shook my inner feelings, touched my profound and deep emotion, my soul. And with all the craziness that is happening in the world right now, if we couldn't live together in peace and harmony, I ask, "how do WE keep the music playing?" Ms. Helen Charlston, your solo is just stunning. Just the perfect amount of emotion, warmth, temperament, expression and grace, yet very powerful. I could listen to your fantastic voice all day. Very inspiring. Thank you. As we are currently inhibited from doing what we do best and love, this is one of those perfect reminders not to lose hope, and that sometime, someday we will be back together in concert-- for love conquers all, and that any form of hate has no place in our heart. Then I suppose- truly music never ends.

This song is undoubtedly a pearl and touches a lot of people very deeply in their hearts when it is arranged so masterfully, so courageously rehearsed and so lovingly and sensitively interpreted as we can experience it here. Well, no, but thank you for this sensational gesture, reminding me of an example of all of the amazing choral singing that has been going on in the world. I am weeping as I write. We all corporately sigh as we figure out how to make music like this in masks and keep our droplets to ourselves. Sing on people. In gratitude.

Indeed- I was hoping to get some specific creative ideas I hadn't heard before on what to do with my choir since I have to teach them despite the dangers. So seriously, this is gorgeous, but if anyone has anything about how to run a choral rehearsal/program outside and with a mask, and with no in person performances practical, which is what the recommendations are, I want to hear it.

amazing singing and Helen Charlton is superb as soloist. But for me, it is the bass in pink shirt and headphones behind Layton grooving at 3:10 that makes it for me. HE IS SO INTO THE MUSIC he cannot restrain himself.

Absolutely beautiful - thanks so much to Helen, Stephen Layton and everyone involved in this stunning recording. I can't believe I've never heard this song before and can't wait to learn it, with Helen as soloist, with the Self-Isolation Choir. If you love it too, why not sign up to the course with SIC?

I started the Self Isolation Choir course today learning this sublime song with the fabulous Joanna Forbes L’Estrange and the wonderful Helen Charlston. We’ve had the privilege and joy of singing with Helen and Fieri for many of our SIC works.

I had the pleasure of hearing this choir at the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, Ontario during their North American tour. They were wonderful that evening, but this piece surpasses even that performance. A simply magical rendition of a beautiful arrangement. I have listened to this every day for the last two weeks - can’t get enough of the piece and the angelic performance by Helen Charlston. Incredible!!!

Lyrics: How do you keep the music playing? How do you make it last? How do you keep the song from fading Too fast? How do you lose yourself to someone And never lose your way? How do you not run out of new things To say? And since you know we're always changing How can it be the same? And tell me how year after year You're sure your heart won't fall apart Each time you hear his name? I know the way I feel for you is now or never The more I love, the more that I'm afraid That in your eyes I may not see forever, forever If we can be the best of lovers Yet be the best of friends If we can try with every day to make it better as it grows With any luck then I suppose The music never ends I know (how do you keep the music playing) The way I feel for you is now or never (how do you make it last) The more I love the more that I'm afraid (how do you keep the song from fading) That in your eyes I may not see forever (Keep the song from fading) Forever If we can be the best of lovers Yet be the best of friends If we can try with every day to make it better as it goes With any luck then I suppose The music never ends (source: LyricFind)
