How do you know when your breast implant is ruptured

I have silicon and I read the only definitive way to tell it ruptured is an MRI.

Can you live with ruptured implants and one leaking? Will the leaking silicon cause any health problems I really don’t want to get them explanted , but I’m not sure what to do.

Is it unusual for a ruptured silicone implant to cause tenderness and pain? I have developed very sudden pain 3 weeks ago. Ultrasound looks like possible rupture, but having a hard time getting my insurance to approve MRI to confirm. But the pain is very concerning. My mom passed away from breast cancer.

it may cause pain possibly. I would definitely get the MRI and then consult with a plastic surgeon for further evaluation.

Remove them and don’t replace them ! The silicone is toxic and damages your bio system . If implanted above the rib an even bigger complication awaits you in the future - the capsule grow against the rib and and nerves - Damage to the lungs is not uncommon - breast implant illness is real and honest surgeons will tell the truth -

Hi , I have silicone implants for over thirty years, about five years ago I went for a mammogram and I told her that I had implants and she told me that the procedure being done was equipped for implant patients, it was very painful and she kept moving my implants to do the mammogram about two weeks later I started having pain and since I have a bobble the size of an egg on my left breast which now hearts and I’m feeling uncomfortable, I’m 65 yrs and I’m terrified I have no money to go and have them removed and of course replace them, I had cancer and buy removing the tissue I had my left breast empty to the point that I used a prótesis about 4 yrs so i decided to have implant surgery , I don’t know what to do now, and I’m having pain!!!

newer generations will last many years if not decades. if you have concerns, get evaluated by a plastic surgeon. may also consider a MRI

I had saline implants done in 2001 they’ve been fine but recently I notice the right breast seems deflated. The top of the breast seems a flatter than the left. I don’t have pain but I definitely see a difference. I’m so scared!! Can the add make re saline to the capsule ? Or do I need a brand new implant / implants . And of course money is always the issue ☹️. How much does this generally cost ? Also my original surgeon isn’t practicing any longer. I did keep implant identification card that I got when the implants were done with the serial number ms if the devices. Ugh I’m really freaking out about this 😮😢😭

ruptured saline implants cannot be refilled. it needs to be replaced. cost depends on multiple factors. keep your implant card. you will need that when you see a surgeon for replacement. if implant is under warranty, then the cost for the replacement implant will be covered. it will not cover the cost of the surgeons professional fees, facility, and anesthesia. replacing your implants is NOT an emergency. it will not hurt you. for cosmetic purposes, it would be best to replace sooner than later. best wishes

My implants are a classic. LOL Seriously I had them done by Garth Fischer in 1996. They are saline. I think last week my right one deflated. I had a mammogram yesterday because its the yearly but it feels also like I have infection i there as its burning and painful. Plus i developed soft extra breast tissue under armpit o that side. During mammo, the lady asked..."you have implants?" She had just took first imaging of that right breast. She legit said I think it's deflated. So now waiting for my results and seeing NP on Monday and then need to either go back to Garth who is virtually untouchable or find someone who is good. At this stage, I am considering removing both and getting a lift. But need to find someone who is good at this surgery and not over priced for Los Angeles.

I have motiva implants done 2 years ago, I got pregnant straight after the surgery and the shape changed after the baby was born ,I didn't breastfeed but also I started training again about a year ago ...I do boxing and I do sparring is it possible to rupture the implants ?I don't have any more visible changes with the shape after I started to box again

have no idea. highly unlikely that implants will rupture from any form of exercising or pregnancy. if you have concerns, please get evaluated by your surgeon. and consider a MRI for imaging.

Can an ultrasound also detect leakage? I had a car accident a few days ago and the doctor has referred me to get an ultrasound. I have silicone implants that are 13 years old. Sounds like ultrasound isn’t as effective? Thanks in advance

ultrasound not as sensitive for rupture as a MRI. i would advise a MRI if you are concerned of a rupture.

My implants are just over 3 years old. I have been having pain and swelling in my right breast. I’m getting an ultrasound and mammogram. Not an MRI. Should I be worried that something else can be going on? Anyone else experience this..? I’m trying not to worry. Thanks so much!

one month is really early to be too concerned. you are not even recovered from the procedure. I advise you see your surgeon to evaluate you and your concerns.

I Have had my MRI & Ultrasound. My Dr. told me, the implants positive ruptured. It's intact inside and not extra. However, my breast is now having burning and tingling sensation across down to my arm. It feels like an electric shock shooting under my arm. I have a lump under my armpit, my vision is blurry, I'm loosing hair and my rib hurts. My physician prescribed an antibiotic because the plastic surgeon completely booked until November. My insurance already approved the surgery. In your professional opinion What should I do, Doc?

find another surgeon on the approved providers to perform the procedure. if you want it covered by insurance (very surprised they approved!). if not. then call other surgeons to be seen sooner.

Thank you, Doctor. Because I know my insurance policy and what they need to be approved. In addition, the Note from the Doctor requires clear evidence from their professional expertise why the patient requires surgery. The translation of that must be clear before prior authorization and then the COT code. I met all the requirements according to my insurance policy.

Hi there I had a car accident a few days ago I am a massage therapist and had to take a year of medical school so I'm pretty good at palpating the body and feeling things I constantly palpated my breasts after my surgery and so I could feel the implants themselves within the capsule I did a lot of daily massaging and using lots of lymphatic draining Strokes I learned in massage school to keep the swelling down and my boobs you can't even tell that they are fake like everyone thinks they're real I got 620 CC's one year ago I was in a car accident like I said a few days ago I have a lot of bruises where the seat belt was along my breast but it has not changed shape and when I feel it and try to move things around it still feels like I have the hard implant inside of me I don't have any pain or tenderness in the area and everything feels completely normal I should be in the clear correct it was a pretty serious accident my car was totaled but I mean I was okay enough where I was able to get up out of my seat and walk out of the car with no serious injuries and just sat on the curb while the other dude got upset and cussed me out so I was semi-serious I would say since my car was totaled but I didn't have any serious injuries the airbags did deploy but I don't have anything too serious I just had the bruises on my body from the seatbelt I didn't have any other injuries anywhere else just asking you as a surgeon what would be the best option since it seems like I'm okay do I still need to go get an MRI or that's only if I'm suspicious of a rupture because as of now I'm not

I have my Saline implants for 10 yrs .. one (right) ruptured / deflated. Flat .. :(. Going to replace them very soon ! Tomorrow is my consult Replacing with Silicone ether responsive or soft touch. By Natrelle
